LeG was hinting that we’d be forced back into the transfer window for a CB because of a fitness issue. Assuming he is being sincere and accurate, Covid wouldn’t necessitate signing another replace in the way that say a ruptured ACL might.

Redmond, Bednarek and Ings have all been away, though the latter was in the training pics today.

Doubt it’s Salisu, as he’s supposed to have been in quarantine for the last 2 weeks.

Better now than in 4 weeks time tbf. Let's hope the player LeG referred to in his earlier post takes it seriously and not only isolates, but keeps fit in that time.

Why would a player self isolating for 2 weeks force us into the transfer market though?

not related is my guess.

All of a sudden, the club telling the players they aren't allowed to go abroad doesn't seem so unreasonable does it...

Totally unreasonable! They can advise, not insist!

I wouldn't accept it from my employer, vast majority wouldn't either! That's not to say i would be jumping on a plane to go abroad!

Presumably they didn’t insist given that many players did go and posted about it on social media, as did the club. However if my employer advised me not to, and I went, and then left myself unable to work for two weeks because of it then i’d expect them to be pretty pissed off - especially if I was a contracted, high value asset.

They could certainly advise you and tell you that you won't be paid if your behaviour is unreasonable. They can't stop you murdering your wife, for example, but would be able to sack you for the consequences. 😉

You might be able to work from Wormwood Scrubs instead of from home, but they'd still get you for bringing the company into disrepute: it's in loads of contracts!

Of course they didn't insist, they knew they couldn't!

The club can be pissed off as much as they like! You reckon the player is chuffed about it?

Really not such a big deal if no rules/laws/contractual obligations have been broken!

Travelling abroad legally for a holiday wouldn't be unreasonable behaviour in my book!

Is it in yours?

If you’ve got Covid, you’re not gonna feckin remain fit. Depending on the reaction, he’ll be lucky if he can do his boots up by day 9.

Please continue with your hilarious jokes... 😉

It's not the effing travelling, it's the consequences for goodness sake. Like those Aberdeen players who went out to a crowded Saturday night bar in the centre: not illegal but stupid. Besides, it's not what you (or I) think, it's what your employers think and your contract says. There's lot's of things you might not think unreasonable behaviour, hence my slightly over-he-top comparison, but best not to test the point.

Those consequences are only there if you catch covid-19!

Redmond, Bednerek or Obafemi as Romeu and Ings have been photographed.

It won’t be Salisu haven he’s spent two weeks isolating in the U.K. before being announced. Why anyone even suggested him given that is weird.

Get a grip.  Firstly, the article says the player is asymptomatic.  Secondly, a fit athlete of the age range of the current footballing squad at Southampton is highly unlikely to suffer any serious reaction to COVID-19.   The overwhelming majority of people suffering bad symptoms either have underlying health conditions or are severely obese.

In the video the club tweeted yesterday were:

Armstrong, Bednarek, Ings, Boufal, Romeu, Stephens, KWP, Vestergaard, Bertrand, Long, Valery, Smallbone, Adams, Ward-Prowse, Vokins

So it's none of them

So let's hope it's not Obafemi.
