John D Posted 13 August, 2020 Posted 13 August, 2020 EFL have confirmed dates for Carabao cup and that EFL fixtures will be released on 21 August. Presume PL will be day before
CB Fry Posted 13 August, 2020 Posted 13 August, 2020 Won't be far away from the first insider knowledge fixture predictions of the season then.
CB Fry Posted 13 August, 2020 Posted 13 August, 2020 My sources tell me that our first match is Crystal Palace away.

Expand That would be the worst first game of the season! Always keen to avoid the newly promoted clubs at the start of a season. They always play with a little bit more of a bounce and can catch you off guard - even Norwich beat Man City at the start of last season. Give us some games against West Ham, Newcastle, Burnley, Brighton, Sheff U etc to start with please!

Matthew Le God Posted 17 August, 2020 Posted 17 August, 2020 The Group Stage draw for the EFL Trophy will take place on Tuesday 18 August at 1.30pm on talkSPORT 2. 1
Saint Garrett Posted 17 August, 2020 Posted 17 August, 2020 What is the group stage? Does that mean extra games?
Matthew Le God Posted 17 August, 2020 Posted 17 August, 2020 On 17/08/2020 at 15:57, Saint Garrett said: What is the group stage? Does that mean extra games? Expand There has been a group stage for the last 3 seasons. Group stage Sixteen groups of 4 teams would be organised on a regionalised basis. All groups would include one invited club. All clubs would play each other once, either home or away (Academies play all group matches away from home). Clubs would be awarded three points for a win and one point for a draw. In the event of a drawn game (after 90 minutes), a penalty shootout would be held with the winning team earning an additional point. Clubs expelled from the EFL will be knocked out of the tournament automatically. The top two teams would progress to the Knockout Stage. Knockout stage Round 2 and 3 of the competition will be drawn on a regionalised basis. In Round 2, the group winners shall be seeded and the group runners-up shall be unseeded in the draw. In Round 2, teams who played in the same group as each other in the Group Stage shall keep apart from each other. Academy teams from Round 2 to the semi-finals keep apart. 1

Hopefully that has changed for this season.

The above group stage is for the EFL Trophy, it doesn't have a sponsor for 2020/21. Last season it was called the Leasing.com Cup, the season before it was the Checkatrade. I thought that was the Fulham game where PEH played LWB Expand It's pretty much what the JPT was, they've had this group stage for a few years, where they invite the 'U23s' of 'bigger' sides to compete. Think we were knocked out by Charlton last year.

Matthew Le God Posted 18 August, 2020 Posted 18 August, 2020 Southampton's ball was removed to prevent a match with Pompey as EFL don't want potential high profile clashes.

tajjuk Posted 20 August, 2020 Posted 20 August, 2020 An average set of fixtures, bloody Burnley away early again, bet the weather will be crap, early September but it'll be Feb weather. Hopefully though should be able to pick up enough form and points to not be near the bottom, compared to last year where we played the previous seasons top 9 teams in the first 12 games IIRC.
