Lambert was a boyhood Liverpool fan coming to the end of his career. Noone begrudged him a fairytale return.

Lallana, on the other hand, was busy declaring his love for Saints, signing a long term contract, kissing the badge and openly stating he wanted to spend his career here, before (supposedley) going on strike, refusing to play and signing Liverpool shirts whilst saying 'I hope so' when asked if he'll be a Liverpool soon.

Hardly comparable. 

(Ps. Lovren also got pelters that summer for joing Liverpool)

That word supposedley (sic) just about sums it up, even when it's spelt correctly.

Nobody knows the truth, it's all ancient history, why keep regurgitating it like yesterday's bad curry.

No need to be so pedantic regarding spelling, you clearly knew what I meant. 

Regardless, and if you disregard the supposedly (look, spelt correctly this time) parts, the rest of my post still stands.

The point is, he's back. And if he plays anything like the little cameo on Saturday he will be a blessing. Time to be thankful and give credit where its due.

Great interview between the two Adams. Lallana definitely has a "future manager" vibe about him. I certainly wouldn't have any qualms if he needed to step up as interim Saints manager at any stage...

Particularly like him telling his fellow squad members in no uncertain terms that they need to "man up"

Yes, we forget just what a good player he was for us in his pomp.  I've been a bit surprised at how much of his skill and poise remain at 36, and it's fairly clear he has at least a good 45 minutes of Football (per game) left in his legs.    I was never too fussed about vilifying  him for the Liverpool departure - I just thought he had very little to offer on and off the field to justify the contract.   And I was probably wrong on both counts.

Could someone educate me on what exactly Lalanna brings to the side now.

I accept that when he was with is a few years ago he was a clever player who could manipulate an opening.

But not now ! He is an aged guy now who cannot survive in the Prem.

His only attribute it seems to me is to pointlessly pitch to the ref and get booked. Is that what we signed him for !

And I really don't buy into the younger players taking on board his wisdom and experience,either in a match or in training.

Someone earlier listed the utterly pointless signings this lot have made in the last 18 months. Stewart, Cornet Brereton Diaz Archer etc.

Can we add Lallana to that list ?

A few people said the same about Le Tissier. I'm surprised he's not starting, he has got a winning mentality and has always had vision.

He tried a few through passes. They didn't come off, but had more vision than a lot of what we'd been trying.

With the number of players we were looking to replace in the summer, he was a free, experienced player with leadership that the manager felt was badly needed.

I could see the logic in having him in the squad.

I don't see the point in playing him as a central midfielder. Bring him on but have him higher up the pitch. He's one of the only players we have who can make an opening with a bit of skill and who has composure. Get the ball pinged into him near the oppo box.

Juric has been playing a 3-4-1-2 so you would think he'd be perfect for the '1', basically the creative 10 role just behind the strikers*. He started Dibling there yesterday but Dibling for Lallana in that position seems an obvious sub to make after 60 mins or so. If he gets the ball there he can drift out to either side in more of a free role, look to be creative and pull the defence out of position, and not have to run or tackle too much. 

(* I use this term loosely)

I could see the point in him for a Martin team where the slower pace suited his lack of running. 

Now, however, I can't see the point - he's just not got the legs to play I'm an aggressive high press anymore.
