Sounds to me like Forster, Sims and possibly Elyounoussi will be given chances to impress next season and the rest are being pushed to other clubs.

Elyounoussi definitely won’t, he’s already signed for Celtic for another season.

Sims? I've not been following him in the MLS tbh, has he done well?

Not really set the MLS alight. 9 games, 1 goal. Hasn’t featured in the MLS is back tournament because his loan contract ended on June 30th.

No sign of Ings or possibly Bednarek in the training pics. And Lawro predicts Saints 2 . 0. Mc Goaldrought hat trick on the cards then.😱

They appear in the latest batch thankfully...

My initial thoughts for loanees that did well were Reed and Forster. (Jones at Gillingham did well at DM but that’s probably closer to his level.) Lemina did OK from what I gather at Galatasaray but I can’t see him in our colours again. Sims could be a cheapo 4th choice if Boufal leaves but I’d worry about strength in depth if that were the case.

I’m glad it’s this summer that we aren’t fannying around looking for a manager as the turnaround is so tight, and early signings will make it even better. For once we are in a good position going into a summer break. (What there is of it!) Hopefully it also will help us take our good form into the new season and, as we were nice and fit coming back from the COVID shutdown, the same should apply in September.

Really, I took that to mean people like Harrison Reed who have impressed while on loan. Obviously Forster has impressed, but can't really say the same about the others you listed or any of the other for that matter.

Fair enough, pretty much confirms he's never going to make it here then.

Got shot in the summer! Not sure why people keep calling for him.

The main points from the press conference..

- RH unmoved on Salisu talk although he expects signings and wants to get these done early.

Haven't we been here before ?

Given that we seemingly almost have two new players through the door, then it's a positive start.

Been following Saints too long to get excited over possible signings. We almost had Toby signed up to stay at one point...

The whole make-up of football income was completely different then. All gate receipts (which was the majority of income for all clubs then) was shared 50% - home and away. That's why we could compete with the likes of Utd/Liverpool/Everton/Arsenal in the 80s. It's why clubs like Derby, Forest, Villa won the league and clubs like us and Watford, Ipswich came second. If you could do some decent scouting and management - you could have a good crack at the league.

That changed in the late 80s and when the bigger clubs really started to absolutely dominate. Then came the PL income, Champions League and some clubs generating huge amounts from an overseas fan base - which put them on an untouchable level.

You just cannot compare the two - so many things have changed.

Nice to have at least stimulated an interesting debate even if I was wrong in my asserrions. I have learnt some interesting facts from the posts - so thanks fellow saints fans. The 'coma' crack was quite witty too

Is Lemina's bridge to Ralph definitely burnt? On his day he can be a thoroughbred, and perhaps just the kind of player we need - especially as it wouldn't involve a transfer fee, but he needs to do it every week, and his piss poor attitude is a big stumbling block.

I'd fancy Ralph's chances at rehabilitating him, but I'm not sure he's worth the risk when Ralph has done such a great job building spirit and cohesiveness in the squad. Pity, really.

I've heard severe doubts from a senior level at the club as to whether anyone can sort out his attitude.

My own view is simple: Lemina is not a team player. All he wants is his own glory and more money. But football is a team game so he'll never fit at Saints.

It'd be great if Ralph could integrate him and get him playing. He's the best midfielder on our books, and that we can't use him is very frustrating.

My feeling is that his chance has been and gone, sadly.

Hopefully we can outspend the likes to Sheff Utd this summer but not expecting too. Players look relaxed in training, still predicting an open game.

Couldn't give a toss about outspending other clubs, it's all about the quality and attitude of the players/staff we recruit!

Saints on Sky Sports Mix it says in the paper today (whatever that is ....)

All fully explained earlier in this thread.

Question generally is why have we not been shown the press conference on the OS?

Egg me old mate I would suggest that you blow the flame out on that particular candle, the bloke is a wastrel, and he sure as hell ain't our best midfielder as he ain't been in it for over a season. Given the outlay we made on buying him, versus what he has given back he is nowhere near consideration as a "best midfielder ".

0-0 bore draw.

Nice to have an end to the season we can enjoy. Fully expect us to push on next season, not sure we're quite at Leicester/Wolves "best of the rest" levels but it would be nicer if we can get close to them.

Not really Freeview. Only if you've got a Virgin, Sky or Now package.

I’m going for a 6-0 win for Saints and Danny to get four and that’s because Sheffield United hate Vardy

almost as much as we do. I won’t forget how he put  an Dyke out of playing for months.i

Is that Virgil van Dijk's gay cousin? 🤔😉

I doubt Sheffield United's fans dislike for Vardy (if it exists) would be to the extent where their players are happy to concede goals to help Vardy not win a golden boot.

Danny Ings hat-trick to secure the golden boot please.

Amen to that. Anyone but Vardy to win it. I still haven't got over him crocking up Van Dijk!

I think I'd be okay with a 3-4 defeat if Ings got a hattrick.

Yes, yes, I know - every place is worth £2m or something. But in the absence of silverware, I'm more interested in a Saints player getting some golden footwear, to be honest.

Another oddball post about being happy to see Saints lose if............ I just want to see us win like each and every other game, if Ings were to win the Golden Boot then that would be a bonus.

Of course, I want us to win. Like every game. 8-0 would be great, with Ings getting all the goals.

But given a choice between (a) winning 1-0 and (b) losing but Ings getting the golden boot, I'd probably choose the latter tbh.

I'm not overly exercised about whether we finish 11th or 12th.
