obelisk Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 "Southampton a little bit sleepy". That's an understatement.

igsey Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Redders doing well with his first proper run at the full back, hope we see more of that in the second half.

Well the lineup because they got back early Tuesday morning from Manchester and having been unchanged for three matches some needed a rest. Shape - don’t know
Lord Duckhunter Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 The Captain running around doing his little boy lost impression. No presence at all, he needs to get a grip of the game. He’s the cm & skipper ffs 1
AtomicSaint Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Well this is painful, looks like we don't want to score, can Obafemi control anything he makes Long look like a football genius. 1
Archers Road Stand Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Seen performances like that at St. Marys too many times since the Puel days. Our home form is an absolute joke. 1

AtomicSaint Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 If we are doing a swap with Spurs for KWP it will have to be PEH and someone else on his performance tonight. 1
Saint Fan CaM Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Can't understand why the crowd are not booing that performance off the pitch at half-time. Complete horse manure. Even Ings our best player looks poor. I reckon there's a mass bet in the Saints camp for a Brighton win! lol 1
trousers Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Bring on the calvary Ralph! P.s. Come on Man Utd! #nowlookingoverourshoulderagain
Teddeer Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Bring on Long, Armstrong, Bertrand and Stephens at HT.
doc oli Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Yes disappointing but did we really expect all those changes to have no impact on the style and intensity of the team? Clearly trying a few things out, many aren’t working, but if we’re back to usual Saints against Bournemouth then we won’t be complaining.
Micky Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 From what little i saw on a crappy stream that looked as bad as we have been in a while.
northam soul Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Gone back to the old pass it back to the centre backs routine when we are moving forward. Perhaps we can add that record to all the others, most passes backwards in a single game.
Wes Tender Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 As I thought a few days ago, this is typical Saints; play really well against the top teams, play crap against the lower teams. We lack the width that Bertrand and K W-P give us and the backbone that Armstrong gives us. I suspect that Hojbjerg doesn't really want to be out there risking an injury. Too many changes, which has forfeited our cohesion and the understanding between players. The club eventually emailed me the BT code before the match, but it is an awful feed. Perhaps it's my computer, but other match feeds have been good.
edprice1984 Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Ings looks a little jaded. He and Obafemi are getting no service. Clearly Vestergaard, Hojberg are not up to it. Vokins has done ok. Smallbone and JWP need to move the ball quicker.
obelisk Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Not exactly offering much to get excited about for next season at St Mary's. 1

CWD Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 We lose so much bite when Armstrong is out of the team. Smallbone is tidy but doesn’t seem to want to run at defenders like Armstrong does, don’t think RM/RW is really his position. good to see Vokins getting a start, but Redmond doesn’t have the understanding with him that Bertrand does. Would like to see JV attack his man a bit more. oh and £60m for Hoibjerg and Panic Vestegaard? Get near that, and Semmens deserves a knighthood 😂

He's been involved more than Ings. Their isolation is down to the lack of creativity in the rest of the team more than anything else. 1

John Boy Saint Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 To be expected with such an oddment out there here and there - Ings will likely come off because he is just a yard short - which is not to malign him because he has worked like a dog the last few games - likewise Prowsey. sorry boys but Redmond still needs a rocket up his bloody backside he is so damn predictable, on the odd occasion he buy a ticket to the raffle he actually makes a difference.

derry Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 We are the 19th worst home team in the league whilst being the 5th best away team. It doesnt need a genius to work out why, away, the players move the ball forward quickly, at home the back six even if they are going forward don't pass forward but almost always stop and pass back. The slow play allows the opponents to get their whole team goal side and crowd out the forwards. Away we attack quickly in numbers and often cut defences open, at home we don't. The changes haven't helped and have only accentuated our abysmal football at home whilst playing the same negative go nowhere possession at the back we've played all season.
obelisk Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Saints seem to be incapable of applying periods of pressure at home. Any chances are snatched at and most visiting 'keepers have a pretty comfortable 90 minutes when dropping in at St Mary's. It's been the same tor 2 or 3 years now. Something needs to change in the mindset because we can't rely on decent away form.
Manuel Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Well, we know our best team, and the lack of squad depth is pretty clear too.
vectraman Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 As soon as a team let us have time on the ball, our poor passing, movement and control shines through. Away from home, less time in possession, quicker getting the ball forward, much better side. We need to play away at home, even against the poor teams. Keep our shaky defence protected by playing deeper, attacking quicker.
Saint_clark Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Very harsh on Obafemi. Hardly ever given a proper chance compared to Adams.
OttawaSaint Posted 16 July, 2020 Author Posted 16 July, 2020 I think Vokins has been one of the better things that we have seen today. He’s done fine, needs to go for the overlap more but Redmond missed a relatively simple through ball to him. He would have been clean in on goal.
Saint_clark Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Good finish Adams 🤦♂️ Brilliant play from Redmond and Vokins in build up.
OttawaSaint Posted 16 July, 2020 Author Posted 16 July, 2020 Hoj goes back into midfield. Fuck! Sick of his shit passing, haul him off.
simo Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Just now, Saint_clark said: Vestergard is too dangerous to let him play. They'd be less chance of us conceding with him off and us with ten men than with him playing! 1
Saint_clark Posted 16 July, 2020 Posted 16 July, 2020 Hojberg really does think he's better than he actually is, trying these long range passes and consistently missing the target...
