I know we are safe but why have we gone with this lineup and shape?

Well the lineup because they got back early Tuesday morning from Manchester and having been unchanged for three matches some needed a rest.

Shape - don’t know

Yes disappointing but did we really expect all those changes to have no impact on the style and intensity of the team? Clearly trying a few things out, many aren’t working, but if we’re back to usual Saints against Bournemouth then we won’t be complaining.

As I thought a few days ago, this is typical Saints; play really well against the top teams, play crap against the lower teams. We lack the width that Bertrand and K W-P give us and the backbone that Armstrong gives us. I suspect that Hojbjerg doesn't really want to be out there risking an injury. Too many changes, which has forfeited our cohesion and the understanding between players. The club eventually emailed me the BT code before the match, but it is an awful feed. Perhaps it's my computer, but other match feeds have been good.

Trouble is Bompey are actually a better side IMHO.

We lose so much bite when Armstrong is out of the team. Smallbone is tidy but doesn’t seem to want to run at defenders like Armstrong does, don’t think RM/RW is really his position.

good to see Vokins getting a start, but Redmond doesn’t have the understanding with him that Bertrand does. Would like to see JV attack his man a bit more.

oh and £60m for Hoibjerg and Panic Vestegaard? Get near that, and Semmens deserves a knighthood 😂

Might as well.

I understand that Obafemi deserves a go after scoring but he's done nothing again.

He's been involved more than Ings. Their isolation is down to the lack of creativity in the rest of the team more than anything else.

To be expected with such an oddment out there here and there - Ings will likely come off because he is just a yard short - which is not to malign him because he has worked like a dog the last few games - likewise Prowsey.
sorry boys but Redmond still needs a rocket up his bloody backside he is so damn predictable, on the odd occasion he buy a ticket to the raffle he actually makes a difference.

Exactly. Especially playing Hojbjerg in defence, he simply isn't an overlapping FB.

His touch and football brain look largely shit though

We are the 19th worst home team in the league whilst being the 5th best away team. It doesnt need a genius to work out why,  away, the players move the ball forward quickly, at home the back six even if they are going forward don't pass forward but almost always stop and pass back. The slow play allows the opponents to get their whole team goal side and crowd out the forwards. Away we attack quickly in numbers and often cut defences open, at home we don't. The changes haven't helped and have only accentuated our abysmal football at home whilst  playing the same negative go nowhere possession at the back we've played all season.

Saints seem to be incapable of applying periods of pressure at home. Any chances are snatched at and most visiting 'keepers have a pretty comfortable 90 minutes when dropping in at St Mary's. It's been the same tor 2 or 3 years now. Something needs to change in the mindset because we can't rely on decent away form.

As soon as a team let us have time on the ball, our poor passing, movement and control shines through. Away from home, less time in possession, quicker getting the ball forward, much better side.
We need to play away at home, even against the poor teams.

Keep our shaky defence protected by playing deeper, attacking quicker.
