Brighton don't need the points. They're not mathematically safe but it would take a miracle for them to go down.

Yep, and if Everton beat Villa in the game before ours, Brighton will be 5 points (and c.10 goal difference advantage) above relegation with 3 games to play (vs us tonight, then Newcastle and Burnley). So, likelihood is they'll need 1 point from their last 3 games to guarantee safety.

Saints have done wonderfully in their last 4 away games, but we've played well away virtually all season (even before the change back to 4-2-2-2). We have been fairly abysmal all season at home and although we were magnificent against Man City, they are a fairly unique team who obsessively dominate possession and at times we rode our luck. Will we be able to beat two teams (Brighton/Sheff U) who will be well organised, get players behind the ball and look to break at speed ?   I would love to think that we can have two comfortable  victories to really demonstrate we have put the home form to the sword, but wouldn't be surprised that tomorrow morning this Forum consists of  "get rid of Redmond" and "Stephens is a League 1 player" comments after a dull 1-1 draw or defeat.

Our success (Top 10+) next season will be dependant on maintaining our brilliant away form and starting to transform our results at home.  The next two home games will a good opportunity to demonstrate our progress in this area - in some ways a 3-0 home victory against a lower league team like Brighton would show more potential than a last minute draw at Old Trafford (based on the very low points that we've gained at home this season). Fingers crossed that we create a foundation to move forward next season ....

Historically contemptuous of Brighton, but like Potter and his style, so as long as we beat them this evening don't mind if they stay up. 2-0 to Saints (Ings and Redmond) - COYR!

So is the BT Freebie the same code for everyone? I have requested one from club (45 years ST holder:)) but they say should have been done by last night!

0315hrs here in Perth Western Australia. Quite right to rest players, I want us to hammer Bournemouth, that to me is more important.

Yeah, same here.  I thought I read somewhere that they were sending the codes out on the day but like you I seem to have missed the boat!  Annoying but I’m sure there will be a stream somewhere

Think Smallbone will start for Armstrong, maybe Hojbjerg for Romeu and, although I doubt it would be popular, wouldn't be surprised to see us start with Obafemi and Long up front as Ings and Adams put in a lot of running and pressing at OT.

I'd be absolutely stunned if Ings would accept being benched given he's chasing a 20+ goal return and outside shot of the golden boot.

I agree although Ralph's mention of younger lads might mean a start for Vokins as well.  Obefemi looks nailed on to start but I'd have him or Long instead of Adams anyway.  Great as the goal against Man City was, the circumstances were exceptional.   Sadly, I think the club should give up on Che and maybe give Dan N'Lundulu his chance off the bench.

I received mine on Monday. I don't know if the code is linked to your name, it's certainly linked to the game. If the local pub is showing it and it's quiet and safe in there I'll publish it on here and first come, first served.

Any of the youth players in and around the squad better at possession football and creating chances for games like this? Tella looks good whenever I see him.

Nathan Tella is injured. Will Ferry is likely to again be the academy attacking midfielder option for this game.

I think we will win. However we surely cannot be as energetic as we have so successfully been in recents days. Brighton will be fighting for their lives. They know that we haven't been doing well at home. So it's going to be a different type of game and the result will be uncomfortably close.

2-1 Saints, with goals from Che and Ings.

I had emailed the club a couple of hours ago, but here we are past 5pm and no response.

Not sure why they're fighting for their lives. They didn't put in much fight losing 0-5 to Man City and they will be safe on 36 points. They have no more to play for than us.

We do have something to pay for, the thing that premier league football is all about - MONEY.  With each place in the league table worth about £2m difference in prize money we have a £6m incentive to finish 11th instead of 14th.  But for me, even more important are the bragging rights from being the top club on the South Coast. Both Brighton and Boscombe have challenged us in recent years and while it's good having them in the Premier League (sadly, not much longer for Bournemouth), we need to win tonight to keep the Albion their place!

That's all true, and I didn't say we have nothing to play for: I said they've no more than us.

Both clubs want the money, momentum to carry into next season and the satisfaction of a win over another South Coast club (wouldn't go so far as to call them rivals or this a derby match)

Maybe sacrilege to even think it but maybe JWP would benefit from a rest for at least the first half

It might just be me but I've really got no interest in that, just because we happen to be situated on the same orientation of coastline. It would be like an East Cost 'derby' between Hartlepool and Southend.

So I assume we're lining up like this:

               McCarthy

JWP     Vest     Bed      Vokins

Smallbone  Romeu  PEH  Redmond

           Oba            Ings

Will be interesting to see how Pierre gets on at Right Back tonight. I remember earlier in the season when he was at left back he put in a great shift :) 2-0 for me tonight - Ings and Obafemi COYR :)

Hmm, wouldn't have put Vestergard in, that's too much disruption for me to feel confident now.

Would have much rather seen Kayne Ramsey given a chance at right back too rather than Hojberg.

More changes than I expected, especially in defence. Someone at the club said the team were well motivated to get revenge on Bournemouth, so let's hope we're saving ourselves for that.

Games have come thick and fast, this is our 4th game in 12 days I think. So, perhaps natural that some players aren’t at 100% or could do with a rest.  In reality we’re looking at 11th as the highest we can finish anyway, 10th at a push, though it would be great to keep the superb run going of course.

Defence looks a bit of a mess to me, Glenn Murray will score.

Hoping we can get a 1-1 out of this.

6 point gap to Burnley with 3 games to go. So 11th it is at best. Play some fringe players build for the next season, which we are pretty much in anyway.
