Arsenal build up

Will be a typical Saints home game. Ozil will start...and show why he is a good player if he can be bothered...Sideshow Bob to return and make up for his shocker last game. Arsenal to win comfortably after a couple of early goals. Saints home form for the last few seasons has scarred me in these type of predictions unfortunately :poundit::lol:

One of those games where people predict us to win which is always a worry.

I still wonder where the mentality of this team is, when relegation is a threat they seem to play well and then trail off.  We got safe last year and finishes pretty slowly, the win at Norwich pretty much made us safe, so will we see the same intensity and effort?

Also whilst Arsenal are bad away and have looked a shambles the last two games, their attacking line up could easily score against anyone.

So this 'wounded animal' and complacency problem worry me for this game.

Definitely thinking KWP rather than Valery. I think they'll pressure down that wing, but I think Spurs player versus Arsenal has the edge.

Longs pace up front too. Rest of the team picks itself.

KWP  ----- Stephens ----- Bednarek-----Bertrand

-------------------- JWP --------Hojbjerg----------------

Armstrong ---------------------------------------Redmond

----------------------Ings--------------Long----------------------

Agree with this line-up. Possibly need KWP and RB to be a bit more defensively minded than normal and allow JWP to get forward.. I think our midfield and attacking players can also that Arsenal defence a lot of headaches.

Me too. They are really not as bad as some paint them, and are definitely a handful going forward. I would personally take a draw.

KWP or Valery? Both prone to mistakes.  I would go for Val for this one simply because he's had one game and therefore may be least nervous. (or should I say, more confident). Valery has good speed which will be important against Arsenal's strikers.

Mentioned in the Hojbjerg thread that he might raise his game tonight to impress his potential new club and their supporters....also will we see Arsenal change team to protect players for their 1/4 final FA Cup tie which is on Saturday....after all their league season is finished!

Valery’s issue isn’t often that he is over confident, or lacks urgency, in defence. He needs to take a leaf out of Bednarek’s book- if there’s any danger, smash the ball into the stands for a throw. If he’d just be a bit more no-nonsense, with a bit of urgency, he’d cut out a lot of the needless mistakes imo.

I definitely go for Valery. Not least the fact that the alternative is not our player, several years older but with much less senior experience.

This is going to be difficult for everyone, will the high press be sustainable in this heat? There will be a few knackered players at HT so choice of subs will be crucial. Not the time to try put the kids today we need the tried and trusted with wises heads who can pace themselves for the conditions. Expect Romeu to feature at some stage, he might even start with JWP at RB  and prefer Adams over Obafemi at 65 mins when Long runs himself into the ground.

0-0 or 1-1, Arsenal are not Norwich even under Arteta.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere ... I see Season Ticket holders can obtain a free NOW TV pass for our matches being shown on Sky.

NOW TV free pass

I never received this offer. I have just emailed the club to ask why not. It would have been nice to watch the match live tonight.

We probably should be confident for this one, but with Arsenal having one win in 17 years at St Marys, having lost two games in a row, and with Lawro actually predicting us to win, I just can't be...

It'd be pretty awesome if we could pull out a win and go on to finish above Arsenal though.

Ralph commented - as part of the KWP review - that he hadn't had much chance to show off his talents yet and may get one or two starts before the end of the season. Only one or two? That doesn't suggest he's first choice. I would go for KWP for this one, but hey what do I know. They are much of a muchness.

I was hoping Boufal would come good this season, as he’s clearly very talented and is one of few players for us who can produce the odd moment of brilliance. However, like Lemina there’s just something missing mentally.

No doubt he’ll go somewhere else and have some success, as he did in Spain, but it hadn’t worked for him here.

On his way?

I'd imagine so. Has looked ok in glimpses this season, may be able to turn 10m for him to a newly promoted team or abroad. Djenepo plays a very similar role and is far more promising so I am not personally that bothered.
