Flashbacks to Brazil V Germany here. Barring a miracle, Barca manager will go tomorrow.

Why do Barca have a habit of appointing these random coaches these days? You'd think a club of their fame and standing could attract any manager in the entire world.

This isn't the first time they've had someone not really known who failed - Martino was another, a few years ago. They had Valverde too, not massively high profile and he failed too.

Possibly thinking they just need someone to come in and pick the obvious first 11 then sit back?

Pochettino the obvious appointment.

Really isn't any tactical thinking there! Just give it to Messi and let him run seems to be the approach. They have some great players in De Jong, Griezmann etc and they just struggle because there's seemingly no tactical shape or manager philosophy for them to adapt.

Behave. Not obvious at all.

Really? His style of play would suit Barca down to the ground.

His wife said her and the kids would leave him if he took the Barca gig - having been boss at Espanyol

I think that would go out of the window when he's actually offered the most prestigious job in world football.

Maybe Barca will take Hoedt, Lemina, Forster and Elyanoussi of our hands. They can't get worse...

Given that they spent £30m on former Middlesbrough Championship player, Martin Braithwaite, I'm sure we have a chance.

Whoever comes in has a massive task. They'll be inheriting an ageing team including some big egos and prima donnas who will be resistant to change, happy to keep banking their megabucks until they retire.

Barca's play now looks slow and outmoded. Still dangerous in attack but brittle in defence. They still hope teams will be frightened of them and set up defending deep, which used to be the case. But, as last night showed, they can't cope with the modern pressing game, losing the ball regularly near their own goal and then showing no energy, urgency of intensity to recover. I was reminded of Man Utd struggling against us in one of our first games under Poch. So used to being allowed possession and time to dwell on the ball.

In fact the whole team looked lethargic and put out that they're still playing rather than on the summer break.

Yeah, he's pretty good at that sort of thing.

Apart from the fact he's got 131 goals in 394 games as a winger! He missed a sitter, but he is a pretty lethal finisher from the wide areas in pretty much 9/10 games.

They lost this due to Pep's total tactical overthinking in the first half. I don't know why some coaches worry so much about the oppo, just play to your own strengths and believe in your own philosophy. Yes, plan for their strengths, but don't abandon your entire identity to try and nullify them. They abandoned everything in the first half. So weird.
