Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 21 July, 2020 Posted 21 July, 2020 (edited) An interesting synopsis from Hampshire Live on the conditions we'll have to satisfy to get Salisu a work permit for those, who like me, have always wondered how this works: And here are the work permit rules which Southampton and Salisu must abide by to complete the transfer. "Where applicable, a club’s application to register a player has to be accompanied by evidence to allow the League to demonstrate that the player may take up employment in the UK," a statement on the Premier League's website details. "The League will not confirm the player is eligible to play for the club applying to register him until it has received such evidence. (Rule U.13) "Players with passports from outside the European Union and the European Economic Area need permission to work in the UK. A club needs to have applied for a permit prior to the window closing. "The UK Home Office has a points-based system based on which clubs must apply to The FA for a "Governing Body Endorsement" for such players. (See p551 of the Premier League Handbook 2018/19) "If the player does not automatically meet these criteria, the club can request an FA Exceptions Panel consider the player’s experience and value in order to determine whether a Governing Body Endorsement should nevertheless be granted." No sure if Spanish media to that too but if they do then with the top rate of income tax at 45% £34.75k/(1-0.45) = £63.18k. Salisu wouldn't be joining us even aged 21 to be sitting on the bench for long. Stephens and Bednarek may start the next campaign as they have a decent partnership and not too long between seasons to bed in Salisu, but I think Salisu would soon find his way into the team once the season is up and running. Matthew Le God Posted 23 July, 2020 Posted 23 July, 2020 It is hard to take Football Insider seriously when their articles are riddled with errors. For example they keep writing articles about Saints & Salisu and say we've agreed to pay him £35k per year. Does no-one proof read for them?

Turkish Posted 25 July, 2020 Posted 25 July, 2020 If this guy is as potentially good as I’m reading then this is a massive coup. Clearly we will only get two or three seasons out of him if he gets anywhere near that level but we could have a hell of a player on our hands with potential to sell on for a huge profit in a few years. Good business. 1
SNSUN Posted 26 July, 2020 Posted 26 July, 2020 I know little of Salisu, but one benefit of strengthening centre back is whether he’s hit or miss long term, we now have two decent, improved centre backs to fall back on in Stephens and Bednarek. If Salisu is first choice, I actually feel for the one that misses out as post-Leicester, Stephens improved and formed a good bond with Bednarek. Unless Leicester come back in for Vestergaard, surely he’s good enough as fourth choice? I’d say those four centre backs puts us in a strong position in that department.

Expand Agree, whilst the fact its done early, and January links, also point towards him being a key target which bodes well. If he does well initially then hopefully we give him a pay rise and add anither year or two to his contract to avoid another Clyne, Wanyama, Hojbjerg sale where the fee is reduced due to only having a year left. We have clearly been burned on long contracts to poor players, but I think we can be a bit more aggressive once a player has shown they are good enough. Bednarek for example. Leicester have done this well, with Chilwell and now Maddison signing new deals which basically guarentees a monster fee when they are sold. VVD a good example for us. Edited 26 July, 2020 by Dusic
