SaintRichmond Posted 17 May, 2020 Share Posted 17 May, 2020 I regret being thick, but can someone explain how 22 players are going to run around for 90 mins, keeping 2 metres apart, whilst on the subs bench, face masks will be worn ??
The Cat Posted 17 May, 2020 Share Posted 17 May, 2020 Here's the government advice for people working outside: "You must maintain social distancing in the workplace wherever possible. Where the social distancing guidelines cannot be followed in full in relation to a particular activity, businesses should consider whether that activity needs to continue for the business to operate, and, if so, take all the mitigating actions possible to reduce the risk of transmission between their staff." Footballers on the pitch cannot follow the guidance in "full relation" however subs, and staff on the side of the pitch can. Whether anyone agrees or disagrees that football should be played is irrelevant, because as long as the "activity needs to continue for the business to operate" then it can. whelk Posted 17 May, 2020 Share Posted 17 May, 2020 What is the point of social distancing if everyone has been tested negative? Make people feel better with a bit of lip service. Everyone has lost their minds
Lighthouse Posted 17 May, 2020 Share Posted 17 May, 2020 What is the point of social distancing if everyone has been tested negative? Make people feel better with a bit of lip service. Everyone has lost their minds I agree. You can either believe that testing will ensure nobody in the stadium had the virus, in which case there’s no need for any of the masks, social distancing etc. Or you’ve accepted that some people will get into the stadium with the virus, in which case it’s likely to be spread significantly by breath and close contact. It’s a meaningless compromise, which as you say is just paying lip service. They should have some conviction, one way or another.

VectisSaint Posted 18 May, 2020 Share Posted 18 May, 2020 What is the point of social distancing if everyone has been tested negative? Make people feel better with a bit of lip service. Everyone has lost their minds Swab tests are not 100% accurate, some studies suggest up to 30% of results are wrong, but probably much lower. Also tests only give a result at an instant in time, and also take time to process, people can become infected after the test. Chance is low, but finite. VectisSaint Posted 22 May, 2020 Share Posted 22 May, 2020 No, if you are a carrier, it will be detected. Except the times when it isn't. Tests are not 100% accurate.
