indeed, so now you can ask your question.

Thanks. The funny thing is the semi-final programme from Stamford Bridge, which I've also still got, was the same price.

In which positions did Saints & Pompey finish in the Football League in 1946?

Do you mean 46/47, which was the first post war season?

No, I mean 1945/46, which was the first full Football League season to finish after the war, with 42 games played by each team, although it tends to get overlooked.

Not full football league, but regional divisions, north and south.

How many Premier League own goals have Saints conceded at St Mary's ?

Be surprised if anyone knows that without looking it up. Am going to guess it's around 25-30 (about 1 or 2 a year?)

Most of the answers on this thread have been looked up.

1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 or 9 o r10 or 11 or 12 or 13 or 14 or 15 or 16 or 17 or 18 or 19 or 20!

I win!

Which one ? Nineteen of your answers are wrong.

OK I guess 6

No. And rather than simply guessing a random number, an answer would gain far more credence if some detail of each OG was given.

3 , JWP got one and Hoedt 2 maybe !

JWP got the latest one, but Hoedt has only ever scored a PL OG away from home, ( at Anfield and the Etihad for certain ). Mind you, centre backs whose surnames begin with 'H' do figure strongly, as alluded to in post #571 above.

As this question seems to have stalled the thread, or you have all simply lost interest, I think this installment needs to be closed.

The answer I have, and there is no need for pedantic correction if I have missed something, is 8 own goals conceded in the Premier League at St Mary's. The latest being JWP vs Man City on Dec 30th 2018, and the preceding 6 being

Jakobson vs Skates Nov 13th 2004

Higginbotham vs Middlesborough Dec 11th 2004

Higginbotham vs Norwich Apr 30th 2004

Hooiveld vs Fulham Oct 7th 2012

Guly vs Arsenal Jan 1st 2013

Hooiveld vs Spurs Dec 22nd 2013

But who scored the first, and against which opponents ?

First PL defeat, first PL goal scored, first PL goal conceded, first PL red card, first PL goal for MLT, first PL game where Saints took the lead, first PL game where Saints threw away a lead.

I'd spent the previous season arguing with my QPR supporting housemate over who had England's next great striker, Shearer or Ferdinand. Now we had replaced Shearer with Dixon and Speedie and then Ferdinand claimed two goals to beat us. Being a Saints fan always finds a way to become crap just when things are looking good.

Well, that has to be right.

In which season did saints record the biggest win in the division for that season 6-0 and also record the two joint highest scoring games with a 6-2 win and a 6 -2 loss.
