Mr X Posted 11 March, 2020 Share Posted 11 March, 2020 Saints’ defeat last Saturday was their ninth home loss of the season, which is more than any other top-flight team. This woeful record sees them rock bottom of the home form table, sat on just 14 points, one less than Norwich have picked up. Thoughts on why we are so appalling at home? How do we turn this around? Were we this bad at home under previous managers too? Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk

Teams know how to play against us at home, sit back and counter and our defence simply isn’t strong or clever enough to learn from mistakes that they’ve been making for 3 seasons. Saint Garrett Posted 11 March, 2020 Share Posted 11 March, 2020 Teams seem to have learnt that if they bully us and play us on the counter, and be direct, we can't handle it. Players like Traore, Antonio, Saint-Maximin absolutely boss us. We can't defend against pace and power, and we aren't creating enough against the lesser sides. qwertyell Posted 11 March, 2020 Share Posted 11 March, 2020 Thoughts on why we are so appalling at home? Players. Tactics. We can't play with the ball. The opposition let us have it because they know A) we won't do anything with it and B) there's a good chance we'll turn it over in a dangerous area. Our away successes have come against sides who took the game to us, giving us chances to press and steal possession high up. Anyone who has gone direct or played cautiously and asked us to make the running has beaten us easily. We're so one dimensional it's not even funny. How many goals have we scored this season from what could be termed a good, flowing move? We profit from mistakes, ricochets, long balls and hustling. It's crap quality football. But it's the best these cloggers can muster. Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
davefoggy Posted 11 March, 2020 Share Posted 11 March, 2020 St Marys is too nice a place for away teams/fans & refs. We need to seriously look at moving away fans, I know it's been discussed before, but it's laughable. We'll probably start winning at home when we play our games behind closed doors. SFC Forever Posted 11 March, 2020 Share Posted 11 March, 2020 Maybe we should be looking at the stadium for a reason. A lack of atmosphere as against that which we could produce at our old ground The Dell
CB Fry Posted 11 March, 2020 Share Posted 11 March, 2020 Maybe we should be looking at the stadium for a reason. A lack of atmosphere as against that which we could produce at our old ground The DellBut all current Premier League stadiums are like that these days. We've finished 8th three times, seventh and sixth in this stadium so I don't think its that much of a problem. Having been to the London Stadium for the first time a couple of weeks ago, we should count our blessings.

Conversely we do not know or have the ability to play teams who play it tight and counter attack, when we play away we normally face a more open game.
