Noodles34 Posted 14 July, 2020 Share Posted 14 July, 2020 Thought he bottled out of two or three shots last night, one being the assist! Okay, the second half shot was good and it was an excellent save but yeah, so he chases down on the press, so what? That is not a skill. What you want from him is someone who is getting the ball and constantly running at their defences, like Treore, like Sterling, like Antonio, making defenders panic stricken but he simply does not do that. And when he does try he just runs out of ideas and into a bank of defenders. He looks lacking in confidence and presently looks no better than Obefemi. Of course there is a good player in there, but it is championship level and I really do not think we will see an extended run of form but he is not good enough. The odd game here and there, sure. In saying all of that though, the real problem is that we have got no one better in that position.

Look back to the results when the headless chicken was not playing just before lockdown, then perhaps you will see how poor a judge you were in making that post Saved our bacon in the first half too the one time they got in behind Bertrand . He’s one of the most important players in the team, vital to how we transition and as you say it showed when he was absent. Liked fact he had awareness to pick out Armstrong for the first rather than waste the opportunity with a low odds shot. His shooting’s the area he and Ralph seem to be aware he needs to work on(even if it’s increasing the amount that work the keeper) However if he was the complete goal scorer too he wouldn’t be at saints. The Cat Posted 14 July, 2020 Share Posted 14 July, 2020 Some weird comments on this thread. Really don't understand what people are watching sometimes. Set up a goal, nearly scored, won the corner that got us a point. But apparently that's not good enough 🤷♂️

And don't give me "He was POTY last year"....Brexit has already proven the masses are stupid. So what are you saying, the “masses” think Redmond is decent, but they are wrong because they are stupid. However the minority, who I assume are not stupid, which includes you, think he’s terrible? Sorry if my my small stupid brain is failing to keep up. Lol, so you thought he should have shot from an acute angle rather than clip the ball to the unmarked player who scored. Good god you really cant win with some fans
waylander Posted 15 July, 2020 Share Posted 15 July, 2020 A quote from tomorrow's opponents "why is he still at St Mary’s? Redmond is a superb player which makes it an utter mystery as to why one of the Premier League’s big boys have not made a move for him." As always though get some that seem to have a go even when it's clear he's played well, they don't like him and seemingly never will. I don't think anyone on here thinks he's perfect, sure end product could be better sometimes. But imo his class is clear and he's enjoyed consistently good performances for 2 seasons now. Always one of the first on the team sheet for me.

Always one of the first on the team sheet for me. So far I'd describe him as unfulfilled potential. Far too often players look down the line for him making a run but he's come inside and short for a pass to feet. Too often he turns away from goal to pass backwards or infield instead of taking it down the line, even when there's space ahead of him. For a pacy attacking winger with a decent cross on him, he doesn't play all that different to someone like Ward Prowse would playing on the left wing. Pilchards Posted 2 August, 2020 Share Posted 2 August, 2020 I have no idea when his contract runs out but the official SaintsTwitter is teasing the Left Flank is locked down. A photo of Redmond and Bertrand together. Seems like we are going to have an all Saints day with all the announcements on one day?

Thats the second little lock tease they have had featuring Bertrand.

He does look good at times when carrying the ball in open spaces in transition, but overall I think we need better creative attacking players then him

Saint_clark Posted 7 August, 2020 Share Posted 7 August, 2020 Last game of the season was possibly his best game for us. Needs to play with that attacking intent more often instead of constantly turning inside and playing it sideways or backwards.
