Wonder if said PL CEO and consortium is the Richard Scudamore and Redball group?

Crooks a helmet but I can't disagree with his 1st point.

IF it is Scudamore, then that technically is the [other] Red Bull group RedBall.

It could be Peter Kenyon, who seems to be forever linked with takeovers that don't happen.

* Update - Funnily enough I just googled Peter Kenyon & he was involved in the GACP (DaGrosa) attempted takeover at Newcastle.

But if you read the article that says it isn't her decision to make.

It says she has veto option on any deal, so she is surely in a position to notice Da Grossa is a charlatan and stop it, should she wish to?

Yes but if what they are reporting is true then he's talking to Gao not kat.

But if Kat still has a say and has to sign anything to finalise anything what with being part owner with not as much power but still with a say?

I have no idea how it works hence the question 👍🍻🙂

Kat and Gao could have agreed anything.

Wasn't it reported before that she had a put option (i.e. the right to force him to buy her out) and she tried to exercise it but he wasn't good for the cash. I'm sure I remember reading about that. They were in dispute.

She can if she inserted a veto clause into the deal to sell 80% to Gao.

My impressions are it’s just as well she has 20% holding and veto. I’m sure without her Gao, would have loaded the debt to buy back on Southampton......

There was talk of legal action wasn't there? About 18 months ago i think.

I'm more worried about the mental state of "Gazz" who only trusts Alex Crook.

If Adam Blackmore says it isnt the degrosa guy I would tend to believe him .

He also says there is a buyer there which is great news !!!

Its gonna be complicated though ....Dell fella has an 80k loan out , Gao wants what 200 to clear his loan , and KAT has 20% (which is not a veto 25% or above is .

Somethings happening none of guesers know what which is good ,.

I was told a few weeks ago that a takeover is progressing and that Kat was happy. That would probably suggest that it isn't this chancer and more likely to be someone hopefully better than who we currently have.

Stay calm, people. I have a hunch things could work out really well. From this side of the Atlantic, I know a few of those involved. There's a scenario where this is truly transformative for Saints. Nothing's finalized of course.  Can't say more just yet. But speaking personally, as a life-long Saints fan, I'm pretty excited about what I'm hearing.

Taking your post at face value, it sounds exciting, so can you expand on what "transformative" may look like?😁

From the DaGrosa group? Or another?

Not sure the club needs transforming just a decent amount of dosh chucked at it in the player dept. I’m hoping it’s evolution and not revolution.

Depends if you want to compete with big clubs. If that s the objective, then you do.

Marketing wise would be one of the areas of transformation, if you want to build a brand.

I think the thing you need most with worldwide marketing is the media. The reason the bigger clubs get more worldwide fans is they are always on tele and in the papers so people around the world see and know about them more.

Don't know how we could get more time on tele unless we consistently finish higher in the league and/ or become more attractive to watch.

So the answer is to,?

We have to be realistic, even if someone comes in and pumps in £millions, we'll never compete with the 'big clubs' on a regular basis. We'll have good periods, and when the big clubs then decide to take our best players will drop back and go again. But if we have the finances we'll bounce back and have another go.

The big clubs generally come from big cities. Southampton is a medium-sized city with a medium-sized football club, compared to the other 80 or so league clubs in this country we are one of the bigger ones but the real big 'uns are are another level. I've been following this club for nearly 6 decades so I guess I kind of accept it.

Ok did some digging and checked for possible US investors who have been looking at or shown interest in UK clubs or european clubs recently.

So @NewYorkSaint can you say if either of the below maybe involved

  • Henry Mauriss
  • Bull Horn Holdings - Rob Striar or Chris Calise

FYI for all - Mission statement from Bull Horn very interesting & they filed for an IPO for 75mil a few days ago.

"We are a newly organized blank check company formed for the purpose of effecting a merger, capital stock exchange, asset acquisition, stock purchase, reorganization or similar business combination with one or more businesses. We have not selected any business combination target. While our efforts to identify a prospective target business will not necessarily be limited to a particular industry, sector or region, we intend to capitalize on the expertise of our management team in the sports (including sports franchises or assets related to sports franchises, and sports technology), entertainment and brands sectors. We intend to focus on leading sports, entertainment and brand companies that have potential for brand and commercial growth. Our objective is to generate attractive returns and create value for our shareholders by applying our strategy of identifying opportunities and capitalizing on the experience of our management team to acquire and manage a business that can benefit from our management team’s global experience with teams, leagues, brands and investments."

Building a brand is expensive if you didn't already become one during football's heyday. It's not for nothing that the only two clubs attempting to join the famous old guard on the global stage are owned by countries, rather than individuals.

Christ, the classic “football consortium”.

Grandiose plan.

Washed up player as some sort of associate / advisor.

No money.

To be honest this sounds like a rehash of the original da grosa story, I assume the exclusive letter is just a period to negotiated/due diligence etc which we sort of already knew.

The interesting thing for me was the other 20% being involved.

Still not convinced this is the real deal
