Huffton Posted 24 February, 2020 Share Posted 24 February, 2020 Looking for some advice. I want to bulid a lean to shed against the side of my house. Dimensions roughly 6m x 3.5m. Thinking of using metposts for the uprights. How many uprights would I need for that length , and what size timber should I be looking at for the uprights I'm thinking 4x4?, the spar across the house wall and the roof joists, 4x2?? Thanks on advance

Thanks on advance I have absolutely no idea, but if you google lean to strength you'll get some useful info (to my eyes anyway). Things like this lean to design for planning permission purposes http://planning.walsall.gov.uk/swift/MediaTemp/61602-33239.pdf Or this RICS roof strength calculator https://www.rightsurvey.co.uk/roof-rafters-span-tables-for-surveyors-roof-construction/
