I don't know a lot about that Emmanuel Dennis, but just looked at his scoring record and it's nothing to shout about. Never hit double figures in a single league season, playing in Ukraine and Belgium. Comparing him to Wesley, who was also from Club Brugge and had a similarly average scoring record and he cost £22m and has ultimately flopped so far.

Not a lot of clips on YT either, but what you can find shows a player with pretty dodgy control. His first goal against Madrid went in when his first touch ended up playing the ball against his standing foot.

He doesn't play that many minutes so his goals per minutes played is decent enough. See: https://www.transfermarkt.com/emmanuel-dennis/leistungsdaten/spieler/448854/plus/0?saison=ges

Oh 😞.

Seriously though, he doesn't seem any better than Obafemi. Don't see any point in this.

Someone like Loftus-Cheek on loan wouldn’t surprise me

He is made of glass, which is a shame as he is quality.

Not sure he is a '6' though.

Link to Russian midfielder Daler Kuzyaev, free agent after leaving Zenit:

If that ends up happening you would feel its low down the list of targets. Maybe a backup option.

It's quite frankly absurd that there is an international game 4 days before the start of the season.

We weren't complaining when Rickie scored on his England debut, 3 days before the start of the 13/14 season.

The PL could have easily pushed the season start back a week. Those Nations League games were in the calendar before covid

I'd be happy for us to push him on further....

To give this some perspective you need to bear in mid the level of defenders there means Wesley Hoedt can play for a top side in Belgium.

We were previously linked so wonder if that interest will re-emerge. No space however unless we are planning to move on Boufal as suggested

And the main thing: no money.

In my NFL whatsapp group the americans, especially women, are really excited about this. They don't follow real football at all but they were chatting about spurs and, strangely, Harry Kane due to this. Womens football seems pretty good for marketing yourself across the pond and you don't even need to splash out on a Pulisic.

To be fair if you are in a group chat about NFL the change of weather outside would appear really exciting...

personally, on balance, I’d keep him unless we find someone willing to take him on and cover all his salary and we can get a replacement for c. The amount we receive.

Completely different situation to that of Hodet and lemina who are compete bellends... boufal is a pretty decent lad and a liked member of the squad.

I agree with this, and as Stevy points out he was unlucky with injuries last season. Also I don't think 'not a bit part role' means starting every game, but more not 'only considered when we're desperate'.  i don't think he's fit for today, is he? Which would rather illustrate the problem.

You’re in an NFL WhatsApp group and you had the cheek to say I was boring the other day

NFL is a surprisingly fun sport if you give it a go. Not a coincidence that the superbowl is one of the most watched sporting events in the world.

I have given it a go but after 2hours I gave up . The games need to be reduced to action on the field . In USA people seem to have it on as background !

So the only recent links have been Choudhury (would surely cost too much yo be worth it) and the Russian lad (available on a free).

Imagine we will see some strong linka shortly as we are in dire need of another midfielder - cannot be in a PL season with two CMs (three with Smallbone).

Think we would look to replace Boufal (if he goes?) or do you think Ralph sees Tella as doing that?

Going to be tricky to find the money to afford 2 players.

If anything yesterday showed we need a progressive midfielder

A nice left sided midfielder at RB Salzburg called Dominik Szoboszlai - 19yrs - scored 7 goals for them seems to have pace as well.

Probably out of our budget though

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Assuming any deal for RLC would be a loan, but it’d be a very sensible bit of business for someone, if he can stay fit.

RLC would be a very, very good signing. He was instrumental at Palace, but a poor spell of injuries has seen his career stall quite heavily. If we can get him on a similar loan to buy deal as Bertrand then I would be more than happy with him. Much better than Choudhury, I think he would bring the same class as Ings and Bertrand have from the bigger PL sides.

Lets get a team of double barrelled surnames.

The issues with RLC:

1. He is always injured

2. We wouldn't be able to sign him permanently if he did well so its against the ethos of the club

3. He isnt a 'no6'

4. He is always injured
