Summer 2020 transfer business

We broke the trend on the contracts when we signed Lemina, Boufal and Carrillo straight on big money though. Although I agree, signing on a lower wage with increments as you go along is definitely the best route. Honestly, Reed and Ross need absolutely shooting for the position they've put us in.

£75m for VVD and we pissed it up the flaming wall and put ourselves in the shit. In that period we were the worst run club in England, IMO. To cock up £75m income to the rate we have takes special skill.

Because Jamie O'Hara on TalkSport said that if Man Utd had Ings they'd be title challengers and then a mass Twitter debate raged. It is just TalkSport being TalkSport and they got the debate they wanted.

And what about Maureen Lipman?

Are we signing Maureen Lipman??? Very confusing....

I probably could have made up a really funny punchline there if we were just about to sign Beattie... #oneforthekids

He was left out of their friendly today as they want to sell him to raise money and didnt want to risk him getting injured.

Everton are close to signing Allan from Napoli and Doucoure from Watford so doubt they would want McKennie as well.

So in theory seems promising...but Blackmore was clear we weren't in for him and most of the noise seems to be coming from the Schalke side, which no doubt suits them given their need to sell.

Valencia in financial trouble, seems really bad. Anyone of theirs we could pinch for a reduced price?

Mouctar Diakhaby would add height at CB, but he looked a little clumsy on the ball. A lot quicker than Vestergaard. Jose Gaya might be worth a look. He has a nice left foot and decent going forward.

Signing Mckennie would already make this a good window, anything after that would be a bonus.

Expensive deal to do — but I suppose if we decide to sell Reed, it’s almost like finding the equivalent of a 40% McKennie discount code.

The interesting thing is that all the rumours are suggestive that we have 'offered' a certain amount, or are at least prepared to - that suggests we have that available, because you couldn't offer 22m on the hope that we shift Reed and Lemina for e.g. I reckon the overall problem is that we need to shift players to free up wages, that should be easier because even loan deals subsidise the wages - let's see what happens.

Whatever Adam Blackmore and Carl Anka said previously, I genuinely think we want him and have wanted him since the start, no smoke without fire and all that.

It was an observation I made at the time, that he had a bit of a pot, to general agreement when it was pointed out. I'd also agree that Obafemi is another that  seems less than professional both from RH's comments and from a poster's personal knowledge of him.

Obafemi got his arse chewed off by the club liaison for telling some bird he was injured quite some time back. She promptly posted it on Twitter, notifying the opposition just prior to a game. Not ideal. Just a silly mistake by a young, naive player but I hope he learnt his lesson. He doesn’t seen to look after himself physically.

I would get shot & bring in that young Uruguayan instead.

Only player that might leave is Vestergaard. Heard nothing re Bednarek, though Sky sports reported chelsea's intetest in January. Keep an eye out for training pics. Im not trying to keep everyone guessing. Some stuff is detrimental to the club. I'm sure Ralph will do the right thing. He wants to build something here and his obsession with stats will point him to the right areas to strengthen.

That's a VERY small selection of players featured yesterday

I thought the WM stuff was all BS and he isn’t very good at footballing.

This is what happens when you can’t get into the site to get reminded of what’s happening. And every time I click on a like I instantly regret it.

Inclined to agree, as much as our jounos deny it, the links don't want to go away.

I'd imagine if we can sell Reed and one of Lemina/Hoedt/Carillo then we should still be in the black even if we make this signing. It did sound like his wages may be a stumbling block though, I think someone said he was on Forster money?

How do you figure we’d be ahead?

we have spent £23m on KWP / Salisu - recouped around £15-19 for Pierre

the figure mooted for Reed is around £8m - but it’s £20m ish for Mckennie.

we aren’t getting £15m for Hoedt, Lemina or Carillo

Sadly, we aren't getting anything for Hoedt. Lemina or Carillo--or Elyoussai or Danso or Vestergaard or Boufal, i hope I am proved wrong but we are stuck with them. It must be hard for the manager and serious professionals to get on with their careers with that lot hanging around

You may be correct but I suspect not with at least one or even two of them. Danso by the way isnt ours and is now on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf.

I just hope our CEO has more positivity around selling them than you and I'm sure he will.

He was never owned by Saints, he was on loan.

What I don't understand is that there is talk that we are interested in signing Ntcham from Celtic, while they would love to have Elyonoussi but can't afford him. Isn't there some possibility of a swap deal? Or are Elyonoussi's wages the problem? Or is just that Celtic don't want to sell Ntcham or daren't do so because the fans would be too upset?

From what I can see from Celtic fans is that they love Ntcham and hope the club don't sell him, but they do seem to be resigned to him leaving.

Dan Sheldon (TA) reiterated that we will have to sell before we could make a move for McKennie.

Aside from the dross that we won't get fees for, the only players we have who are worth anything and aren't key first teamers would be:

Vestergaard, Reed, Sims, Boufal (although he will surely end up leaving on loan if anything as only has a year left) and Gunn (who it would make far more sense to loan out).

Am I missing anyone?

Think you’ve got everyone.  Not going to be too much money lower down the leagues for any older academy lads either.

Celtic currently have no need to buy Elyounoussi as he is on loan with them until summer 2021.

Plus I'd guess that Ntcham is the backup option if Saints don't get McKennie. So any deal for Ntcham would be on the back burner until McKennie either signs or doesn't.

If they can sell Boufal twice it would be brilliant! Hoedt??

We do. Like I said, my friend who works at the club has confirmed that we are interested if Reed leaves.

Hypochondriac do you know if the Celtic midfielder is a top target for us?

No I only saw him for five minutes and he just mentioned that and how everything is easier at the club when we are playing well because there's less abuse (and what a great bloke jwp is.) ill say if I hear anything else.

Just had a WhatsApp from my contact sorry it’s been a while but Hes been busy with work and on holiday, however as per the last message things are starting to move

Incomings

we’re not done yet, still look for a replacement for Hojbjerg we are interested in an unnamed USA midfielder currently playing in Germany, sorry but other clubs read this forum so he wouldn’t let me share his name so we don’t alert the competition. Also looking at another player playing in Germany and someone in the Scotland

we are apparently also interested in bringing in another striker, expect to see us liked with a very talented young South American playing in the second tier of Spanish football over the next week or so

outgoings

clubs looking for buyers for several first team squad members, you know who they are so no surprises here. However he thinks Vestergaard May be closing in on a move away and if he does expect us to move for a centre back, an Austrian playing in Germany is one Ralph is keeping tabs on I understand

other news

apparently there are fitness issues in t he squad  and a player has tested positive for CV19, I can’t say who but you’ll be able to guess from the training shots

Two new long term contracts to be agreed soon to add to JWP which I told you about a few weeks ago.

Things looking VERY positive but need to shift a few to get the wage bill down.
