Interesting dig from PSV there! I think that's pretty clear we didn't get our shit in line for this one!

Don't know anything about him to be honest, but it's another kick in the balls to our transfer plans. I wonder if this was who Ralph was referring to as our 'first targets we missed out on' - or was that more Mckennie?

Bit of both.  Sangare much cheaper!

SFC hasn’t had its shit together for four years, ever since Ronald left and especially since the Fonte January window debacle. Squad needs major strengthening so loans it is. Not ideal but tides Ralph over until we can get rid of Gao and co for good

Our hands are tied by the Legacy of Reed. The man came far to close to ruining us. I used to moan that he hamstrung our potential. Now I am just greatful that we seem to have survived Reed without getting relegated and entering adminstration.

There’s clearly more to this than is in the public domain. I don’t care what anyone says about big clubs and history, players and agents don’t choose Eredivisie over the Premier League in 2020. As skint as we are, I can’t see that having sold PEH we couldn’t budget £8m for a replacement. If things really are THAT bad, why bid for him in the first place?

I think McK was the one we ‘missed out on’.

Unless Gao won’t sanction any major buys until the club is sold, that could be another take...

Clearly you are wrong in 2020. Choosing a Big 3 (or especially 2) Eredivise Club against a bottom half PL club is really quite an easy decision to make.

We aren't signing (foreign) players because they don't want to come here. They see no prospect of winning anything, wages are not significantly better, Staplewood is not really the big draw that MLG suggests (was it ever?), playing in a system that means you have to work hard closing down, Brexit, bungling Govt covid-19 regulations. Players also will look at how its worked out here for other players recently. Ralph is not a big draw. We really aren't such an attraction any more.

Did a check on voetbalzone cos I know they dont pay that well here and last year the estimate average salary for a eredivise player was 291k euro a year with ziyech being the top on 4mil a year or 70k pounds a week.

Am guessing PSV would be paying Sangare around 30-40 euro a week max for a DM - plus factor in finances due to covid and no fans in stadiums either I'd guess closer to 30k

Don't forget there was the interview with Semmens a while back that seemed to indicate we were seemingly gambling on prices in certain leagues coming down by the end of the window so lets see if that happens...

Nah just paper talk in the dutch papers about being interested on weds but that could be them pumping up their own tyres.

The main insight I got from the PSV forum was he is tall and they dont like the french.

Fitted our profile exactly.  I would be surprised if we weren't in for him.

Nah bro we are going to get a rolls royce of a centre midfielder that is going to be our pressing king in the midfield and score goals for fun.

Schneider wouldn’t confirm the identity of McKennie’s other suitors, but Sports Illustrated understands that Southampton initially was the most interested team beyond German borders.

So he probably was our main target

I agree, proven by Peiters, Propper and Wijnaldum.

It's weird that we even thought that was a goer, he was already on huge wages. It wouldn't take much for the club to do the initial due diligence on those elements before wasting any time on it.

Depressing to even think for one millisecond that winning on the weekend might have dampened our search for new players but the delay in lining up a central midfielder is tantamount to negligence. Really think we must be absolutely skint or run by people with very little experience of how transfers work.

Would totally take Theo on loan, great move for both parties. We need extra forward/no10 options, he is more of a goal threat than Redmond/Djenpo, we wouldn't be committing a huge transfer fee. We have plenty of younger players to develop, we need a little balance with experience.

I'm not sure Theo would offer us anything. He's not been very good for some time now.

Sessegnon would be a weird loan signing if there's no option/obligation to buy - Not guaranteed game time with us too.

Much rather get someone that is suited to playing on the right of the two 10's.

sadly not being very good isn't the bench mark for not offering us something in some positions right now!

Its more than reasonable to ask if we want to block tellas "pathway" for someone like Theo but i honestly think Theo would offer us more coming on than tella does for example

Re outs:

I can us coming to an agreement with Carillo and allowing him to then join another club on a free.

Praying Hoedt joins Lazio.

Its gone quiet with Boufal the last day or so.

Likes of Sims, Hesketh etc can move on loan during the EFL window, til mid October I think.

One player that I'm surprised that we haven't been linked with is Lerma from Bournemouth. His first season in the Premiership was very successful although his performances seemed to drop last season.  He has premiership experience, is a defensive midfielder, plays the high press and is probably available due to their relegation.  I cannot see any rumours linking him to any other team in the last week. Maybe Bournemouth are asking too much, hence the absence of clear suitors, but in the absence of anyone else he would be the type of individual we could be looking at (particularly as we are getting pretty desperate for a DM).

He wouldn't be my first choice, but seems a logical possibility.

In my house we have wanted Lerma or Billing as a naturally athletic midfield signing all summer.  Billing gets goals too

I can the following panning out:

- Carillo leaves on mutual concent (To be done after the transfer window)

- Boufal stays with no replacement lined up (especially as prem loan will be done for CM)

- we loan a CM from another prem team as no money for a permanent signing.

Posted

Wasn't the plan to leave it late in the window when the prices being asked will drop. Me thinks we are leaving it too late and heading for another catastrophic shit show of a transfer window.

Am I right in thinking we can still sign EFL players after the deadline?

I think so..?

However, there will be an additional, domestic window that continues through to 5 p.m. on Oct. 16 when clubs will only be able to trade (either loans or permanent registrations) with EFL teams (so not internationally or with other Premier League clubs).

Ok scoped the Dutch papers and it's all over them.

Apparently we were in the stands on the weekend v Venlo and also a Spanish club is interested in him as well.

Could be 12-15m based on their speculation

Tella has a bit of pace (not sure what else he offers), Theo has lost much of his plus I'm pretty sure he will just get injured

Scouting for players to replace hojbjerg. Laughable bearing in mind we've known he's off for a minimum of 6 months.
