***saints to enter administration***

I might be being a bit naive but I doubt it came from the Lowe or Crouch camp as a deliberate ploy.

I don't like lowe and i try and not let that cloud my judgement, but if you spoke to Steve G, you will know where he heard it from, which suggests the rumour did have credible legs....... even if it was ********. I'm probably over reacting but seems to me someone (for whatever reason) wanted that rumour out there. It worries me it tied in so nicely with Sales story

How could it oh master of conspiracy? ;)

OK, here goes. Lowe and the Wolves chairman want to do business. Lowe wants the maxiumum amount for his shares. The Wolves chairman wants to buyout crouch and the rest for a snip. Lowe has a gentlemans agreement that his shares will be bought for say 30p if Lowe can get the shareprice down so the rest can be hoovered up more cheaply.

I think that is highly unlikely but what do I know.

I may, or may not have been being serious.

That said Charlie Sale led with the story so i remain very suspicious. It may have simply been a PR move with the story coming out (to attract anti lowe sentiment) just prior to the transfer window closing. the window closed with no sales and it would give the luvvies ammo.

And there's been a fair amount of low share price hoovering this week...IMHO

I agree completely with the link to the charlie sale story (FWIW) but can't agree with the link to lowe selling cheaply....not how the man works

I remember Lowe once saying “I'm always sincere even when I'm lying.” I wouldn't trust him.

WTF has the Liverpool captain got to do with whats going on in our club ? unless he too is friends with Wilde and Morgan

Steve G is injured, everyone knows that. There is no way that he would be involved with saints if his hamstring was hurty. Maybe when its fixed he may think again. Please don't think you can pull the cashmere over our eyes.

We are not going into administration - Lowe will not let it happen as he cannot afford to be tarnished as a failed PLC CEO in the City. And his ego will not allow it. He will sell or cut-back as much as he can before admin comes knocking. I wonder whether the early bird offer will come a little earlier this year? Otherwise a lack of take-up in ST's (leading to big hole in finances) will not be known until too late to act. We will end up in L1 and be faced with a devastating scenario that will make the current situation look rosy.

Stanley, I thought the share purchase price for a complete takeover (essentially, the hoovering-up price once a certain level has been reached) was set by company law as the highest price paid during the preceding x weeks (can't remember what "x" is).

If so, that conspiracy theory wouldn't work.

At least legally. ;)

This is absolutely reliable - PLC board will announce 1st week of Feb that company is entering administration. This is info I have obtained this afternoon from a wholly credible source.

An absolutely massive blow, as I read this as relegation now a certainty. While it may in the long term prove a blessing in disguise, this will prove the absolutely bottom point we have reached for many decades.

I am gutted tonight

1 minute to go.....tick, tick, tick....

In fairness this rumour was making the rounds within the financial market at the time Forester posted. Exit2 and SteveGrant had heard it. Clearly speculation by some who had a reasonable idea of what is going on and no smoke without fire. We are not out of the woods yet.

Disappointed that you used that phrase WS. It is frequently used to give any old ****** a veneer of credibility and is one of the nastiest most insidious sayings that was ever coined.

It is indeed a toss of a phrase.

Can I get a no-administration WOOT from anyone?

Random info but my mother is doing a degree at winchester uni. Someone on her courses husband works at sms (bit sketchy on details) and said we would be going into admin soon. I'll try and find more details if I can

It was chinese whispers, the husband probably said he works at sms in administration.

We are going down anyway

Administation is largely irrelevant in terms of the outcome ...its not like we have a 10 point safety cushion to park our arses on

Listen best to get relegated and THEN go into administrations NEXT year eh? After all that is probably Lowe's plan!!!

Just read on a football but non-Saints site that there is a rumour doing the rounds in the city that the 23rd is the "magical" date..

As per my previous bet - which, sadly, no one took me up on - including Forrester who said his info was "absolutely reliable" that we'd be in administration by now, I'm willing to bet £1,000 at evens that we DON'T go into administration on or before 23rd Feb 2009. Just PM me to take me up on the bet.

Whilst we're on the subject what are the odds for Saints to go down? £1000 dead cert bet I'd have thought. I wonder if they're less now than when Lowe put a bet on at the start of the season?

.... well its an explanation isnt it!? ;)

Dear NickG,

My son, Master Bates, has just suffered a heart attack and died after you resurrected this old thread, please see it in your kind heart to pay the funeral costs, or risk being sued and taken to court for manslaughter.

Kind regards,

Mother of Master Bates x x
