Kim van der Waals.....revealed sort of :)

Interesting add-on to this:

My brother is a professional football scout in Holland, and I asked him about Van Der Waals. Here is his answer:

"I happened to see this article a few weeks ago in Voetbal International. The common thread throughout the article was this vague figure of Kim Van Der Waals. Bottom line is that nobody in the football world here (Holland) knows of him, what he does, or has done, or even who he is. It seems that one day he walked into SFC out of nowhere and became extremely close to your chairman. I hear he is impossible to work with and even harder to get out, due to his protection from Lowe. His added value is ZERO.

Having read that I'm extremely worried.

Can anyone confirm this:

Does van Der Waals have a penchant for short-sleeve shirt and tie combos?

Hmm. So the plot thickens.

The question remains, if what we've 'discovered' is correct, then just how did this guy make himself such a prominent part at Saints?

The "Ali Dia of DoF's" seems to be a good description with what we know (or rather "don't know") so far.

the date of the osbourne fan forum was 6th november so he was definately here then and if you want a photo of him just dig out a copy of the echo for around that date and i think a few were in the sport section perhaps he was in one of them?

I have a friend who works for the Echo. Any idea of the dates of which paper to get? I'll get my hands on one.

Such a shame we didn't know of this before the AGM. Would have been great to see Lowe's face if someone asked who he was!

Exactly what I was thinking, but why has it taken us the fans to unearth him, surely the national press or local press and media must have known of him.

I've seen him at almost every home game this season and thought nothing of it.

It was only when there was a thread started suggesting we may have a 'secret football advisor' that I figured this guy could be just that.

correct. I recall BarcelonaSaint confirming it was th chap he saw at teh airport with Poortvliet 3 months before Lowe re-joined the board last year

...but, of course, all posts pre-Aug 08 are 'lost'...hmmmm..... so we need whoever took the photo of Lowe and this chap at Farnborough to re-post....it was the one with Lowe wearing his light green crumpled jacket talking on the touchline before the game with this "Russian looking" chap standing next to him....

He was definitely in a photgraph from the Farnboro pre season game. there were comments that he appeared Russian (not very PC)

Shame so many posters have been hounded off the site as whoever posted it will no doubt still have a digital copy at home. Shame on us and the Echo for not spotting that we had a consultant on board. Anyone able to trawl the Annual Accounts for his fees? - oh of course not, they haven't been published yet....

You can scroll through the pics from that day's edition online - there is a link on the Echo website to the Photos....

He's a bloody good advisor though. We'd never have won that one game at home this season with JP running the team.

Hey, that one was down to me (it's the game I have been to at SMS so far this season).

And on topic:

Well done guys and gals. I am seriously impressed with your imput on here. You make Columbo look like an amatuer!

Apart from no one ever having any idea about this guy being at SMS (and no one ever having heard of him before) is that he states he and Lowe have devised the footballing plan (or words to that effect) which woulkd certainly give credence to those who claim Portaloo does as Lowe (via KvdW?) tells him. It also goes against Wotte's statement at AGM that he and Portaloo pick the tactics, team, etc.

Did, kim, bring the painting of the windmill, we requested for the directors room?

Wondering if certain pay packets/expenses/bonus will cover or have covered the cost £60,000 re JP to Helmond...under agents fees no doubt....Just an opinion.

Ottery,

I love your posts, keep em coming. They're the best things on here lately.

Oh, and I don't believe for a second that Portaloo paid that 60k out of his own pocket either.

I know why the article was written: The writer, Michel van Egmond, is Editor in Chief of the Feijenoord Krant (Feijenoord's own newspaper, published as far as I know in print only). Feijenoord is of course where Wotte was DoF when they also appointed Gullit as Manager. Both were spectacular failures. So this Feijenoord newspaper was simply doing a "where are they now" story on Wotte.

Alas....I was storing it all on TSF for safe keeping....little did I know that this would be the first forum in the history of all forums to lose ALL it's data due to a server crash....but what do I know....? I've only been in I.T. for 25 years....

More likely a "look where he is failing now" story.

Would RL not have a duty to inform the shareholders, financers etc., if he has employed a football adviser

"Duty to inform" is probably a bit OTT as this guy is probably retained, if at all(!), in some sort of consultancy capacity. I doubt he's a fully paid up employee with official accountabilities.

Having said that, if a shareholder asks the question of the board as to whether there is a person employed as a strategic go-between of the head coach and the chairman I think they ought to furnish that shareholder with an honest and frank answer, particularly if the individual in question is alleged or perceived to have had "hands-on" influence in the day to day football strategy.

I'd agree. He's probably on some consultancy agreement and cetainly hasn't been given the DOF title, but that's not to say he isn't as heavily involved as that article (and my source says).

The story will be that he only bills us for the days he works. He does some scouting on the opposition and is keeping an eye out for foreign talent. But that doesn't explain his presence at Staplewood, his involvement in training and discussions between the management team on a regular basis (not to mention being in the middle of shouting matches!!).
