Saint Fan CaM Posted 15 November, 2019 Share Posted 15 November, 2019 And we started the ‘easier’ run with an awful performance against Everton, so not really looking like this team is capable of finding the performances that will boost confidence and put some points on the table. Everything about the style of play and (lack of) quality on the pitch screams we’re in deep, deep trouble. The only way out that I can see if they’re really going to stick with Ralph is to have a fundamental change of coaching staff. I’d get Rohl back in a heartbeat. Quite a few of us even called the current scenario pre-season. It won't change supporter emotions or gut reactions. It is good to see it broken down and quantified like that, cheers for sharing! norwaysaint Posted 15 November, 2019 Share Posted 15 November, 2019 I guess this would only be grounds for optimism if we'd been beaten after gutsy, battling displays where they had simply proved to be the better team. I haven't seen many games this season, but when I did, we looked clueless, poorly trained and indisciplined.

tajjuk Posted 15 November, 2019 Share Posted 15 November, 2019 (edited) Yes, though as someone said above, we started this run of 'easier' fixtures with a home game against Everton and were very poor. Plus Newcastle have had the 2nd hardest run of fixtures and have nearly the double the points. But have been saying this for a while, our first 13 fixtures saw us play all of last year's top 9 teams, and are four games against 'lesser' teams, 3 of them were away. We'll have to see how the team reacts over the next 6 weeks or so, but I think whether we stay up now hangs on who we get in to oversee transfers and who they can get in January. We need to get 30 -32 points from somewhere, which is 11 wins, but we do have to still play Watford twice, Norwich twice, Villa twice, Newcastle twice, Crystal Palace twice, West Ham twice, plus Brighton, Burnley and Sheff Utd at home. That is a lot of winnable games, but the team still needs to play way better than it currently is. Edited 15 November, 2019 by tajjuk

If we (Ralph) hadn’t royally stuffed up Bournemouth and Everton at home then supporter emotions would be in a very different place.

Doctoroncall Posted 15 November, 2019 Share Posted 15 November, 2019 If we (Ralph) hadn’t royally stuffed up Bournemouth and Everton at home then supporter emotions would be in a very different place. This has been key on top of our only two wins against teams reduced to 10 men with our best creative player in the side. It shows how much extra work the side need to put in just to be able to compete, let alone win matches.

Colinjb Posted 17 November, 2019 Share Posted 17 November, 2019 Happy to grasp anything right now. But, the performances from the team tell me we are only heading in one direction.
