Somewhere between a six and seven for me, considering we have probably a bottom 5 budget overall (wages might be higher but a lot of that was wasted on trash he couldn't use and any transfer budget he's had is pretty been sell to buy) and we were pretty much almost relegated and then very likely to get relegated under Hughes, he's done a decent job. 

He's improved players (JWP wouldn't be the player he is I don't think without Ralph), he's got us playing some good football, some great runs and some top results.

On the flip we've had some terrible runs and some stand out awful results. But we have also very rarely been boring, we were boring (and generally awful) for the 3 years before him.

Plus I still don't think he has a squad he really wants and is designed for his football, hes been making do and mending a lot of his time here. 

This season is probably make or break, looks like he will get backed in the market with more engaged owners.

It's a real Jekyll and Hyde. When we're on a roll it's an 9. When we're not it's a 3.

That being said keeping us up with the players he inherited and absence of funds was nothing short of miraculous.

That's about right. On our excellent runs it really is 9/10

But the long dismal runs are probably 1/10. Can't be bothered to look up all the bad records he holds (mlg will do that) but off the top of my head -

record loss in PL (and done it twice)

Saints record for most number of games in a row without a win?

Was there something about largest number of goals conceded away from home in a calendar year?

And something else about most number of points dropped from a winning position?

And the most unforgiveable one of all: blubbing when he beat Klopp

I don't get that, when we beat the Pool I was crying for joy (watching TV) is it a bad thing to be so emotional for our team? Fans do it, players do it, why not the manager? Fergie always went beserk and Sammy Lee looks like he's having a fit every time his team scores. What's wrong?

best result of the season ...beating Spuds 3-2...................10/10................ralph 5-6 .........still making the same glaring errors and strange selections ...STILL.

Yeah I get what you're saying about passion. It's ultimately why we all love this team even though they bring us such heartache. I get Fergie passion, I get Ralph shows passion. I get falling to your knees and crying because you just won the FA Cup Final.

I don't get falling to your knees blubbing because you just beat the scousers 1-0 at home. It looked like weakness to me and I'm sure Klopp took it that way. A better show of passion would have been to go up to klopp and tell him this is what you get every time you come here. (unfortunately not the case given the woeful performance against their second string a few weeks back)

Here here !! … baffling tactics and ridiculous subs at pointless times ..has to be a bang average under performance..3/10 … had some very good results but the guy is so stubborn and doesn’t like big personalities/leaders in his teams.. no seasoned experienced leaders are ever added.. even now we are  screaming for a mix of youth to be embedded in with ballers with experience,but yet we still wait for players of that calibre..

When we are playing either klopp or pep he Loses his composure …. Body language is like the the teenage boy around the cool 😎 adult ! Bit embarrassing really !

Such dynamic swings in performance would not bode well for your career whatever the direction of travel.

Possibly not but I think it's unfair to point out how awful we are for several months at a time without mentioning that we're also brilliant for several months. Like when discussing last season, I don't think it's fair to mention the defeats to Norwich, Watford and Villa without also talking about the away with at Spurs, win against Arsenal and 4 points from the Manchester clubs in total.

Maybe, but I think he may just wait to see who the first Premiereship casualties are this season and then make his case for the gig.

I think he'll have a decent start to the season and a bad finish, like always. Although the world cup may actually help him this season by giving the players a rest

The 7 game winless streak the start of this past season and the 9 points in 13 games at the start of his first full season with us suggest a 'decent' start is most definitely not guaranteed.

It’s difficult to say, largely depends on the ins and outs for the rest of the window. As it stands today I don’t see how we are going to see much improvement from the end of last season, especially minus Broja, Forster and Tino. 
 

I think he’ll need a relatively good start to keep his job, I can’t see him getting half a season. It did also occur to me that the new assistant maybe a succession plan, a staged handover from Ralph to new bloke as it were.

but if there were to be a new guy ,then he would have an idea of who hed like yes?

I reckon they’ll give him to the World Cup, will be a what 12 games or so and then gives a new guy plenty of time to come in and work with the players if they pull the trigger.

Yep, my thoughts. He'll get a bit of time, although if the end if season form continues, they may press the button a bit earlier.

I wouldn't be against Rooney as manager at some point. The annoying thing is that if he does well he'd be poached by Everton. Think he's going to make it as a good manager tbh.

He did extremely well last season given the circumstances at Derby.

I would be utterly appalled at the idea of Rooney being our manager. He pledged loyalty to Deby and has just walked out

I think Everton is highly likely. He did brilliant last year. He's a very good manager in the making imo.
