Dusic Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Really hope Ralph ditches 3 CBs pretty soon. Quite clearly CB is our weakest position, so why play one more than is needed? Vestergaard almost ends up being a left back which he is totally unsuited to, and the others seem to forget to mark players. We get continually done down the sides of the centre backs because Vestergaard and Bednarek are so slow. They don't like being in those areas. Our CBs are also dreadful on the ball, usually takes four passes to get the ball to the other side of the pitch when many teams would do it in two. A back four keeps things much more simple, which our CBs badly need. Maybe wheel it out at City or Liverpool, but otherwise lets find some consistency in setup and selection. Morse Posted 29 September, 2019 Share Posted 29 September, 2019 There is not one if our CBs who would get a start in any other premiership team. Until we can shift some of Reeds mistakes out , or the Chinaman opens his wallet, we're stuck with them.
Nordic Saint Posted 29 September, 2019 Share Posted 29 September, 2019 Can't we just play our best rwb, Cedric, at rwb, our best lwb, Bertrand, at lwb, and our best 2 cbs, and Bednarek and Yoshida at cb and play that back 4, which is our best defence, every week, so they get used to playing together regularly? If either of our cbs gets injured, we can bring in Danso and if he proves good enough, then eventually he might take Yoshida's slot long-term. Our two wing-backs are two of the only players left in the squad who are good enough to be sold to a top half club for a decent fee, who haven't been sold, so they should be the first on the team sheet. I agree with that totally, but would say that if Cedric is injured, loses form or throws a wobbly bring in Valery and don't mess around with square pegs. You honestly don't think Bednarek (and to a lesser extend Yoshida) would get into ANY other team in the league?
