Sheaf Saint Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 In summary, it was just as it was against Bournemouth last week. Our opponents defended well and we didn't.

Useful Idiot Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Another dodgy defensive lineup and poor use of subs. Keeper is very dodgy as well. Big chance for at least a point missed today.
obelisk Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Handed a golden opportunity to take an unlikely 3 points but instead the match highlighted Saints unimaginative attack and woeful defence. What a disappointment that they couldn't even take a point after playing an hour against 10 men.
richardc Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Yep chalking that one down to Ralph as well - totally bizarre sub strategy - 1st change on 78 mins - then wasting time sub with Long at the end
Saints foreva Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Huff and puffed a lot but our boring sideways passing style of play is **** easy to defend against. No one wants to take chances in the final 3rd when it comes to passing the ball, I lost count the amount of times Bertrand was ignored for an overlap by Redmond. Boufal done a few give and go's, only to be ignored. You have to take chances to be a good side, we take very little chance and often hand teams goals - two more today - which is exactly why we will be in another relegation battle this season. Bad Wolf Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Chance missed there. A mark against Ralph surely, not taking one of the CBs off at HT. We looked more creative and composed before that change IMO. And we wonder why RH doesn't seem to like Bertrand. That's why. Looked like he couldn't be arsed most of the time. Boufal was our best player IMO.
OttawaSaint Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Ralph trying to be too smart. Two defensive mistakes. Countless attacking mistakes. A decent team would have made spurs pay. We’re just not a very good team.
badgerx16 Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Not good enough - predictable, laboured, toothless and clueless in attack. And for those questioning the drop ball near the end, that's the rule; the ball goes to the defending team, uncontested.

HarvSFC Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 At least Brighton, Norwich, Villa, Newcastle and Watford are all worse than us. St Marco Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 We had some good chances and their keeper made some decent saves. But the whole formation and player placement was all wrong. That starting set-up killed us.

Wade Garrett Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Keeper is low on confidence. Should have saved the first with ease. Our decision making up front is poor as well. Too many greedy players and quite a few poor passes in forward areas. Bit baffled by Ralph today.

trousers Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 We're missing Djnepo. Would have made the difference today IMO, especially with them down to 10 men. sammysaint93 Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 It’s going to be another long season... That was a pathetic performance against a team who had 10 men for 60 minutes. We basically played 90 minutes with nothing down the right hand side, Boufal anonymous and no right back, bizarre line up and subs.
striker Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 So basically once Spurs were down to 10 the score was 1-1. Amazing we gave up a goal like that up a man. Unlucky not to score though, the goalie kept them in front (after giving us a goal of course).

OttawaSaint Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Redmond was utterly infuriating today. Ings was making some great runs in behind and this guy just wanted to shilly shally with the ball all match long. This isn’t Portsmouth, you’ve got to be quick and decisive. We had them on the ****ing ropes, we’re looking to go ahead, Redmond hung on to the ball, attack broke down, they broke at pace (wow, novel idea) and scored. Baird of the land Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Embarrassing display given they had 10 men. Ralph happy that saints had possession even though barring 2 set pieces we were doing little other than going sideways. Why did he wait so long to try and make changes. Why were certain players exempt from being subbed. Why did no one in the team try and take responsibility. Thought yoshida played well, as did Romeu, as did ings(on atrocious service). Boufal was the best of the rest. All the optimism draining out of the season. We’ve scrambled 2 fluke twins and beaten an atrocious league one side. Saint86 Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Shocking at the back again. Gunn has to be dropped - him and our defence lost us that game - scratch that - gave tottenham that game... all in the first half. Manager has to start taking serious blame for this continuously happening. Ref an utter bender second half. Shocking bias on display. Someone very clearly had a word with him at halftime. Halo Stickman Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Struggling to understand the team selection after Cedric got injured and why it took so long to change formation after they went down to ten men. Should have been Valery for Cedric at the start and certainly at half-time. doggface Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Great opportunity missed as a good time to play spurs. Started 2nd half decent but pathetic last 20. Should have started valery once Cedric went down. A fair result. A Top half team would have beat spurs today and we are lower mid table at best. points wise we have about what I expected but performances have been worse. saint michael Posted 28 September, 2019 Share Posted 28 September, 2019 Think we lack belief. Feels like you are just waiting for the mistake and goal to come. Why oh why we stayed with 5 at the back after they went to 10 men I just don’t know. We move the ball to slowly again. Think we are going to see some highs but we are also going to see more like this. Not sure how we are going to change this type of performance without a major team shakeup.
