Archangel Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 My first post here, having been a lurker for a couple of years. I was one of the younger ones at the Milton Road end and got to know Dougal when he picked me up off the deck after an Arsenal fan brained me with a glass bottle. I somehow became one of the lads and had lots of fun at home and away matches. I loved the Dell and have recently gone to St Mary's as a carer for my best mate who is unfortunately confined to a wheelchair. Anyway, I'm pleased to hear Dougal is still alive and kicking. Does he go to St Mary's?
Wrensup Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Wouldn't play Boufal in these conditions. Given it's just going to be a mess of a game I'd go with: McCarthy Bednarek Vesterguard Yoshi JWP Romeu Højbjerg Bertrand Armstrong Long Ings You do actually what us to score a goal right?
stupandus Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Must have met you myself then.John lives near Highcliffe and very rarely goes now.Quite a few of us old blokes still have season tickets and meet up on the odd occaision.
Batman Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Imagine going there with the sh!t show we had under Pellegrino LOL The only time I have been to Fratton was when we beat them 5-1 for Alan Knights testimonial!
Pamplemousse Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Imagine going there with the sh!t show we had under Pellegrino LOL The only time I have been to Fratton was when we beat them 5-1 for Alan Knights testimonial! Crikey, can you imagine

SNSUN Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 thought ambulances took you to hospital, not home? They’ll have to pawn that flag for money when Eisner does one in 6 months time and they creep towards admin...
Useful Idiot Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 thought ambulances took you to hospital, not home? They think any self propelled vehicle with four wheels is a weird, magical device powered by witchcraft. You can't expect them to be able to tell a bus, a taxi or an ambulance from each other.
Wurzel Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 We've now reached that time of the day as kick off approaches when my mindset changes from "It's just another game" to nervous anticipation and a "we have to smash them " attitude.
Archangel Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 He is the admin of a Saints chat group on Facebook. His name is John Titheridge Thanks for that. I'll have to look it up.
Shance Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 I am absolutely ****ting a brick over this game now. This game could kick start their season and even though we were 2 leagues below them, they've never let us forget the 4-1. Lose this and this generation of Saints fans will never live it down and will never be allowed to forget it. Time for our players to step the **** up and write themselves into Saints folklore!!!
Wurzel Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 They’ll have to pawn that flag for money when Eisner does one in 6 months time and they creep towards admin... In Eisner's first get together with his new board he asked why they weren't playing their great rivals Southampton more often and suggested creating a new cup that they could compete against each other for every season:mcinnes: True story.
suewhistle Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 The only time I have been to Fratton was when we beat them 5-1 for Alan Knights testimonial! I seem to recall 7. Apart from that I remember missiles over the wall and smiling sweetly at the policeman as I pssed their cordon and walked in the opposite direction to the station..
Nordic Saint Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 In Eisner's first get together with his new board he asked why they weren't playing their great rivals Southampton more often and suggested creating a new cup that they could compete against each other for every season:mcinnes: True story. Until the rivalry became more bitter and intense in the 70s, we used to play each other nearly every year in friendlies, which were usually testimonials for the 2 clubs' players. My favourite was when we beat them 7-0 in the John Milkins Testimonial at Fratton Park.
Monk Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Building slowly down here. Weather has done a complete U turn as it stands. Rumours of Naylor being out but Harness may make the squad. No idea if Hawkins will play CB or ST. If he starts, expect them to line up 4-4-2 and play on the diag.
StDunko Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Any recommendations for the best pub to watch this in near to Central Station?
LGTL Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Keep calm lads, this is it. Don’t let us down.
igsey Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Biggest game since the cup final, buzzing for this but terrified of us losing! Hope the refs are in good form and not swayed by the crowd.
St Marco Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Building slowly down here. Weather has done a complete U turn as it stands. Rumours of Naylor being out but Harness may make the squad. No idea if Hawkins will play CB or ST. If he starts, expect them to line up 4-4-2 and play on the diag. Maybe just me but I have no clue on who any of their players are. Kanu pay me now still plays for them though right?

Are any of those players any good?
Saints foreva Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Maybe just me but I have no clue on who any of their players are. Kanu pay me now still plays for them though right? Harness is a decent player tbf.

Archangel Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Must have met you myself then.John lives near Highcliffe and very rarely goes now.Quite a few of us old blokes still have season tickets and meet up on the odd occasion. I got stung by a hornet on the IOW and I ended up with a pure white patch on my head a few months later. I remember Dougal wetting himself laughing and he called me 'Badger' which seemed to stick. Those were great days and even though we were always struggling in the league there was a hardness about the team and none of this corporate rubbish there is these days. Anyway, it would be a pleasure to meet up with anyone from back then. Hoping tonight goes well and we well and truly stuff the rabble down the road.
benjii Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Can we hear more about Dougal please? Was he our leader? What did he do away from football? Was he mental or just hard?
Shance Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Can we hear more about Dougal please? Was he our leader? What did he do away from football? Was he mental or just hard? Lol:
Dark Munster Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Maybe just me but I have no clue on who any of their players are. Kanu pay me now still plays for them though right? I think so. He only turned 30 last week. Again. Is Lawrence still working in their ticket office?
Dark Munster Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 You would think they would have covered the pitch overnight (?).
Archangel Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Can we hear more about Dougal please? Was he our leader? What did he do away from football? Was he mental or just hard? He ate Tottenham supporters for breakfast and even the match coppers left him alone. As a 15/16 year old, you felt quite safe with him at matches.
Edmonton Saint Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Going to need a stream for this, as in Canada they are deeming Arsenal v Forest more worthy of showing live..
Spoonman Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 In the door from work, Saints shirt on, beers in the fridge, pre-match nerves building.. Not winning tonight is unthinkable, don’t let us down Saints, go and rip em a new one
OttawaSaint Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Harness is a decent player tbf. He's probably a holding midfielder...
OttawaSaint Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Going to need a stream for this, as in Canada they are deeming Arsenal v Forest more worthy of showing live.. Fecking ridiculous. Checked DAZN yesterday. Idiots!
O_RLY Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Anyone got a good stream? Can't find anything from here in Poland ...
Saints foreva Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 I can't remember the last time I had nerves like this for a Saints game. Just ****ing win Saints.

benjii Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Sounds like the police have the train delays in full swing.
CanadaSaint Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Fecking ridiculous. Checked DAZN yesterday. Idiots! Scumbags. Preston vs Man City or Arsenal vs Forest.
Bananaman Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Very attacking. Wouldve liked Redders in there. Otherwise decent. Obafemi a risk
egg Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 Happy with that team. Our best back 4 and midfield, and pace up top. Glad Ralph is taking it seriously.
CanadaSaint Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 https://soccerlegacy.net/ Did you register? I'm a bit leery about these sites.
Huffton Posted 24 September, 2019 Posted 24 September, 2019 I loke the look of that, Obafemi could cause those carthorses big problems!
