Saint_clark Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Yes.What a load of nonsense that is then. Should always go to the team that had possession. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Ralph has got this badly wrong. No balance so we are playing in one direction and it's so easy to play against. He's got to swallow his pride and get bertie on at LB. Move Cedric at RB. Take any one of our CBs off. Put ings on upfront take JWP off. Even his corners are ****e. grezz Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 He hasn't done any worse than anyone else but I just don't get why he's playing Cedric at LB when Bertrand is on the bench. It ruins our width because Cedric wants to come in all the time. No shape and no idea i'm afraid. They fully deserve to be ahead.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 I think we need to start questioning Ralph - his tactics only work away from home, and his team setup is awful. We need to go to 5 at the back if we're going to play Vest, and hook JWP off.
Suhari Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 So Valery can't get on the bench, but Stephens can. Injury? Bertrand can't get a game, so we play a right footed RB at LB, and a CB who has played LB at RB. And for some reason things aren't working. In the words of Adrian Durham: "Ralph H: is he all that?"
IronCitySaint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 The manager seems quite clueless when selecting and organizing a defence. Yes, we have limited quality in every area but surely he can see that was not going to work. Will he have the smarts to sort it out in the second half? If not then I can only think he believes it more important to make a point with certain players than winning games. Truly awful performance.
saint1977 Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Appalling from manager, players and the fans. RH has cocked that up and would never recover from that type of debacle at Spurs or Man U, so he and Saints are ideal as he can he do very well overall and be forgiven when has a selection brain fart - and this isn’t the first one by a long way eg Cardiff last year. Players were lazy and sloppy from the start. Fans should be really singing Bertrand and Valery’s names, put lots of pressure on RH to swallow his pride and drop this silly set up. It doesn’t work.
Edmonton Saint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 That first goal was really bad. We had 5 defenders stood marking nobody, and nobody attacking the ball. Basics from a very Basic defence.
Ohio Saint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 All our goals have come in the 2nd half this season? They'd better get going with that then.
Baird of the land Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Get Bertie on, move Cedric back and Danso in centre back in place of the lanky sloth. Also JWP seems to of lost his dead ball skills this season as he can't beat the 1st man, hojberg's ability perhaps doesn't match his mouth. On plus side boufal and Redmond looking good and romeu getting involved Why does the useless danso get to stay on.
redkeith Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Crap. We are so unbalanced without Bertrand. He must start on Tuesday. I can't see us doing anything much in the 2nd half, unless he bring on Bertrand for Danso maybe and goes 4222 . No one has had a good half for us. Also, if you have a right footer at left back, don't put another right footer in front of him, unless you want the oppo to know that you are going to cut inside every time !
Sheaf Saint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Overall, I don't think we're playing that badly. We're winning the ball in their half and making all the running and dictating the tempo of the game. But that defence is f*cking hideous. Case in point - at one stage, under no pressure, Vest messed up his jump and gave it straight back, then was far too slow to react when the ball came back in again. He's a massive liability. After not putting a foot wrong last Saturday, Maya must be right miffed at being left out again in favour of this charlatan. What on earth has happened with Bertrand? If he's leaving then why is he even on the bench? If he's fit enough to play then get him on FFS.
benjii Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Our home record under Ralph is pretty awful
saint1977 Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Why does the useless danso get to stay on. Because he can run at least and is vaguely athletic. Would help if he was actually played in position. Whatever issue RH with Bertrand it needs sorting out and if the manager won’t do it, Semmens night have to.
VectisSaint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Well, Vestegaard and Danso, complete liabilities. How the hell has it come to this? Our defence is a complete and utter shambles and we are toothless up front. Still, its OK cos we are playing the Skates on Tuesday. To be honest, play like this and the Skates will stuff us.
NewYorkSaint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 The one thing that's been impressive is the number of times we've stolen possession from them. Romeu is usually the key. Bring on Bertrand, move Cedric back to right and keep the aggression up... You never know. Next goal crucial.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Our home record under Ralph is pretty awful Because playing on the break only works if teams attack you.
Colinjb Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Not very good. All fart and no sh*t up front and a static defence. If there are no changes for the second half I will be fuming.
Ohio Saint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Crap. We are so unbalanced without Bertrand. He must start on Tuesday. He won't play for us again. I feel it in my water.

Whatever issue RH with Bertrand it needs sorting out and if the manager won’t do it, Semmens night have to. Several times at the end of the half he struggled to pass to a team mate 2 feet away. Looked worse than vestergaard even in his natural position. If he’s our center back savior he’s hiding it well.

obelisk Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 It seems a long time since I've enjoyed watching Saints. Especially at St Mary's
Saints foreva Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Because playing on the break only works if teams attack you. Bournemouth are attacking us.

What's your standard for playing badly?
trousers Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 This is down to the selection We have better defenders on the bench ffs let alone playing players out of position. We won’t be getting anything out of this gameAny chance you could repeat this every 5 minutes? Cheers
Dig Dig Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 If we keep ****ing about with fullback positions, life is always going to be difficult
Lighthouse Posted 20 September, 2019 Author Posted 20 September, 2019 I genuinely feel sorry for Danso. I thought he was supposed to come in and be a decent CB and here he is playing a different position every half an hour. No wonder he looks lost. Valery - Yoshida - Danso - Bertrand Give that defence five uninterrupted games in a row, then see if we’re any better.
Colinjb Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 He won't play for us again. I feel it in my water. By again, do you mean now?
Ohio Saint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Yeah, I've been wrong before. Even so, let's see how keen he is.

hypochondriac Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Is soares now playing on the right with Bertrand left?
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 JWP and Hoj are where attacking chances seem to end. JWP has been woeful with his two corners.
Convict Colony Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Someone tell me what veestergaards strengths are ?

OttawaSaint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Valery was doing great, not even making the bench now. What gives?
hypochondriac Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Yes.If we at better this half and end up doing OK then the manager has basically lost us this game with his selections.
Saint_clark Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Hojberg and romeu seem to be stood right next to each other every time one of them receives the ball. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
Mr X Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Valery was doing great, not even making the bench now. What gives? no idea is he injured or on bench?
BotleySaint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Prowse misses another chance... Reflective of his career really. He is a good footballer but lacks the quality for the top division really. Always a nearly man.
Saint_clark Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Adams positioning terrible again, standing on the nearside corner of the box when JWP was looking to cross it in. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
RedArmy Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 Romeu is sh1te tonight. Giving the ball away very cheaply
OttawaSaint Posted 20 September, 2019 Posted 20 September, 2019 If we at better this half and end up doing OK then the manager has basically lost us this game with his selections. My thoughts exactly. Very naive to shoehorn players into a formation. These games are won and lost on very fine margins, having players uncomfortable in positions is asking for trouble.
