Saint Billy Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 (edited) Very sad news. I will never forget his efforts in keeping Saints in existence. RIP Leon. Sorry about typo in heading, unfortunately it cannot be changed. Edited 13 September, 2019 by Saint Billy
alpine_saint Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 One of us. Any chance of a minute's silence before the Bournemouth game ?
alpine_saint Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 RIP sir. Thank you for all you did and tried to do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Amen to that. RIP
Tamesaint Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Very sad news. 10 years ago he did so much to keep Saints alive. A true hero.
Saints foreva Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 An unsung hero in our hour of need. RIP Leon Crouch.
Lighthouse Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 With all the turmoil in the boardroom in that period, we always knew he had out best interests in the front of his mind. R.I.P. Leon. 70 is too young these days.
Saint Garrett Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 RIP - thanks for your efforts - we may not have had a club without you.
Behind Enemy Lines Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 RIP Leon. Thank you for your help in our time of need. Thoughts with his his family and friends. Forever a Saint
The Cat Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Sad news. RIP Leon. He kept the club afloat out of his own pocket and we are all grateful for that.
Doctoroncall Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 A truly great supporter of Saints. RIP Leon
benjii Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 His efforts for the club will probably not get the recognition they deserve. Sympathies to his family.
shurlock Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Remember chatting briefly with him up on a cold October evening up at a Bramall Lane in our administration season. He was a fan before anything else. RIP.
STEVEADAMS Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Sad news did a lot for the club in our hour of need. Forever a Saint.
Depressed of Shirley Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 I really dont think we would have had a club without him, and he was a true fan. RIP Leon
Mr X Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Sad news hope the club/fans organise some kind of lasting memorial to him at the stadium Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
SuperSAINT Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Very sad news. I seem to recall him putting his money in just keep us running. Thanks for everything, Leon.
Guy Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Was it just urban legend that he kept the original, comedy, Ted Bates statue after he paid for the replacement one?
suewhistle Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Was it just urban legend that he kept the original, comedy, Ted Bates statue after he paid for the replacement one? No. Mentioned in the decent write up on the OS. Edit: sorry, I misread your post.
hypochondriac Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 I was collecting for charity outside the stadium a couple of years ago. He stopped, asked me what the charity was for and then put £50 in my bucket. He's a legend in my eyes for that alone.
Wes Tender Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 What a sad loss. His engineering company was a customer of mine so I met him a few times. He was a true Saints fan and in a position to make a real contribution to the club in our time of need.
alehouseboys Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Very sad news. Almost an unsung hero in our hour of need, and he gave us a fantastic Ted Bates statue after that first effort. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Mr Crouch
bpsaint Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Very sad news. Almost an unsung hero in our hour of need, and he gave us a fantastic Ted Bates statue after that first effort. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Mr Crouch My sentiments exactly. RIP Leon
Jimmy_D Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 What he did to save the club and keep us going when we were at our lowest will always be remembered and appreciated. It’s fair to say that without him, Saints might well not still be around. RIP
S-Clarke Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Sad news. He did great stuff for us in our time of need, selfless stuff really. He was one of us, without a doubt. RIP.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Once spent a very interesting day in his company when Saints played at Doncaster. There was no doubt he was a fan first and foremost but he also dug very deep when the club were in trouble and lost a lot of money too. Certainly deserves to be recognised as a true supporter of the club in hard times. He was without ego too - for him the survival and the welfare of the club was the most important aspect.
doddisalegend Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 RIP Thanks for everything you did for our club. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
VectisSaint Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Very sad news. Leon was a true supporter in every sense. Its doubtful that we would have a club in its current form were it not for him. His efforts for Ted's statue were top drawer.
100%Red&White Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Remember chatting briefly with him up on a cold October evening up at a Bramall Lane in our administration season. He was a fan before anything else. RIP. Would seem most appropriate then to see him off with victory at a warm September afternoon at Brammall Lane tomorrow. RIP sir
simo Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Sad to read this news earlier , He kept us going in the dark days before Markus came alone . Being local to lymington I have bumped into him a few times and chatted saints hopefully those at the club remember what he did and there's some sort of memorial for him at the Bournemouth game .
DuncanRG Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 One of us. Any chance of a minute's silence before the Bournemouth game ? I expect there will be more than that at half time.
Sheaf Saint Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Thank you for coming to our rescue in our hour of need Leon. The last ten years might have been very different had you not stepped in and kept us afloat out of your own pocket. A true Saints legend. RIP.
Colinjb Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 A man who truly stood up for us when we needed him. He deserves to be remembered in glowing terms. Thoughts to his family. RIP.
Chez Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 That is sad news. Feels like his efforts were overshadowed a bit by Marcus' acquisition of the club, but they really shouldn't be. I will always be grateful for his generosity to the club in are hour of need.
doggface Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Sad news, gone too soon. An incredible supporter of S.F.C. - rest in peace Leon.
The Kraken Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 RIP Leon, a true saint. Did many good things for the club and was a shining light through the bad times.
Mr Saints Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Very sad. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
Badger Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Sad news, especially at what is now considered a relatively young age. We owe him quite a debt of gratitude for his involvement with the club at a critical time. He probably hasn't had the credit he deserves but was a Saint when needed, and seemed to offer his role in a very dignified way with the minimum of fuss and without seeking self-publicity. Thoughts are with his family.
John Boy Saint Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 A true Saint in our darkest hour. RIP Leon Thank you
spyinthesky Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Not only a true saint but a significant supporter of local charities, especially in Lymington. Had a good chat to him at a hotel in Ipswich after an away game Ithe one where Chris Marsden scored the mazy run goal!!)
LuckyNumber7 Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Very saddened to hear this news, he stepped in in our hour of need because he genuinely cared and without him we may very well not have a club to support. Never really got the credit he deserved in a very turbulent time for Saints. R.I.P Leon.
sainthomer Posted 13 September, 2019 Posted 13 September, 2019 Very sad news. Sat next to him at a fundraiser at St Mary’s when we were close to going under. He was a lovely man and did everything he could to keep the club alive. RIP Leon
