GazzerMaBoy Posted 30 August, 2019 Share Posted 30 August, 2019 Hi Guys. I posted this on the Saints Away message board but there doesn't seem to be much recent action on there so I've put it on here too. I've just managed to get tickets for the Spurs Away game and I'm about to book the train travel. I think I remember someone saying a while ago that there was a cost-saving trick you could use by getting a ticket to Basingstoke then a Travelcard from there...??? I may be completely wrong but just thought I'd put this in the realm in case someone knows about this [or another option] so a saving can be made by everyone else looking to do the same route. Cheers!

the saint in winchester Posted 30 August, 2019 Share Posted 30 August, 2019 Guys, could you hallucinate for me? I just did a quick trainline : (1) SOU to LON inc travelcard - £47.50 (2) SOU to BSK £13.50, BSK to LON inc travelcard £30.90 = £44.40 I can save £3? I think you must have something more significant in mind? Thanks in anticipation.

Shroppie Posted 30 August, 2019 Share Posted 30 August, 2019 Coming from Shropshire to London or Southampton I can always save by looking at different routes and splitting the journey. Recent trip to London on Virgin return, with Railcard, would have been £124. Three tickets - to Shrewsbury, then Birmingham, then Chiltern line to London was about an hour longer but cost £43.
