Pearce and Curbishley are no go's.

Pearce is in a very comfortable job at the FA, and wouldn't leave that comfort zone to come here (and rightly so).

Curbishley has said he will hold out for a Prem job.

Leaves either Dowie or Boothroyd and frankly both are twice as capable as JP is to do this job.

Can I just weigh in with one more suggestion, Paul Tisdale

Whoever's said Peter Taylor, thats a shout and a half. Especially as I go to Uni in Wycombe and i'm working with the club at the moment to help my write my Dissertation! But the Wycombe job isn't easy, they need to sell before doing anything, so its effectively a shoestring they're working on there!

Also Martin Allen and Danny Wilson could be worth a go, and these could fall within our ''price range''

Iain, Dowie in my opinion, is one of a very small number who would and could be welcomed into the fans hearts, not just the dugout. I am assuming that we will be scrapping our way to safety in Div 1 next season and trying to overhaul a points deduction. I also think that he is the type of bloke who the fans will support in numbers through lean spells, whichever division. "Iain Dowieeees Red and White Army" fits too.

Just for fun

OK, so now putting on a "PR" hat, let us look at what we have as at this time.

Ian Dowie has the support of 22% of the votes cast.

So in PR speak... let's read the "possible" future press comments

Almost 80% of Saints fans asked are not in favour of Ian Dowie becoming the next manager of Southampton FC...

Despite drastic action being taken to save Southampton's season, the fan base remains split into many factions and dissent amongst the ranks continues....

After accusations that the Board do not know what they are doing and accusations of weak decision making, the fan base are unable to agree on a suitable future manager and continue to debate fiercely....

Tough job running a football club :-)

Peter Taylor is a good shout but not if he already has a job (unless he wants to pay his own compensation!!)

Can I put into the Mix Darren Ferguson (Peterborough). He has done an amazing job with no money and their players are playing through their skins for him. Due to be promoted 2 times in a row.

Darragh MacAnthony is putting money into Peterborough, £1.5 in transfers and they have rejected £2.5m bids for their strikers!

You need to read Dubai Phil's post above Frank;)

So are you happy that Poortvliet is allowed to continue?

Well 80% are not! ;-)

I voted for Dowie.

If I had to make that decison and I could make the figures match, or get teh banks blessing, I would ask JP to direct the academy and bring in Dowie now.

But who are you to decide "realistic"?

I see no way we'd afford a couple of them, and have no idea if any would be interested in working here.

Hey it's my fanatsy poll idea!

The concept is simple

On a SHORT TERM CONTRACT until the end of the season (because of concerns about finance if we got relegated)

And to do the job of keeping us UP, not being "the Lidl's version" - again

I'm shocked 23 people have voted for Jan, i guess only relegation will change their mind!

Those who voted for Jan should be named and explain why he should be kept on. Everyone knows the reasons why people want him gone so would be nice to hear from the pro JP and hear the reasons why they think he can save us?

Didnt Roy Keane take an average Sunderland squad from near the bottom to promotion in half a season? Cant see him & Lowe working together but then we might have driven him off by then:D

He had big problems at Sunderland with the "bling types" but he loved working with the kids who loved him...

And they said he would never work with Quinn. Rupes would be a pussycat in comparison to their relationship

hmm nice one

I too subscribe to the Tisdale option, but long term starting for next season.

Allen, despite his wheeling/dealing in the loan market has not been that successful at Cheltenham, where he is operating without resources. One regular told me that Allen's constant changing the team/squad round was a major factor in their poor run.

Danny Wilson really is yesterday's man, having gone through Bristol City and Hartlepool where he has failed.

Ah, that ol stalwart! Happy days!!

You can pinpoint the decline at Saints from the moment Marsden left us. Most people consider the rot started when Strachan left but it had infact already started. I'm convinced Strachan saw the writing on the wall (he learnt from his coventry experience) and timed his exit to perfection.

I voted Curbishley, as he is head and shoulders more able than any of the others; precisely why we could never hope to get him here.

We can always hope and :prayer: Wes!! you never know, Curbs may be up for a struggle to resurrect his career!! I think Dubai phil hit the nail on the head!! The appointment is simple, 6 month contract, keep us up, talk in the summer!!

My vote is for Micky Adams.

Why is not more popular?

Did well at Fulham, Brighton and Leicester.

Plus he's got a better slightly better point average than Dowie.

Adams stats - 633 points from 435 games = 1.46 pts/game

Dowie stats - 413 points from 286 games = 1.44 pts/game

Strachan stats (excl Celtic) - 415 points from 325 games = 1.28 pts/game
