saintwbu Posted 16 August, 2019 Posted 16 August, 2019 I agree we need/have needed an upgrade on Long for a while. But the alternative is Ings, and I genuinely don't see much between the two, and if anything I think Long had a much bigger impact at the tailend of last season and still provides 'something different', whilst Ings is a bit meh in all departments really. For me, Long is still going to be a useful asset this season.

Gingeletiss Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 But Ings is our record signing! Only because some idiot set up a 'must buy' condition, when loaning him. I doubt RH would of give him a second thought, if he had been in charge of transfer selection.
northam soul Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Nothing to lose so let’s go for it, a back four of Cedric Yosh
northam soul Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Sorry, not sure what was going on there. Back four of Cedric, Yoshida, Danso and Bertrand. Romeu and Pierre in the middle Che, Moussa and Redmond with Boufal in behind. May as well go for it and try something different as the same old sure isn’t working.

Cabbage_Face Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 I think it will be Big Fraser Valery Bednarek Danso Vestergaard Bertrand -----------Romeu Hojbjerg -----------Redmond Adams ings Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Shroppie Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 If we persevere with a back 3/5, I hope it's Gunn Valery Yoshida Danso Bednarek Bertrand Hojbjerg JWP Romeu Adams Redmond But would prefer Gunn Valery Yoshida Bednarek Bertrand Hojbjerg Romeu JWP Armstrong Adams Redmond Yes. Armstrong. Bench: McCarthy Cedric Danso Boufal Ings Djenepo Obafemi Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Heisenberg Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Maybe an option for today 3-7-1 Gunn McCarthy FF Cedric Valery Bednarek Danso Stephen's Vesty Berty --------------------- Adams
sydney_saint Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 (edited) I like this. McCarthy Valery Bednarek Danso Bertrand Romeu Hojbjerg Djennepo Boufal Redmond Adams Gunn Cedric Yoshida Armstrong Jwp Obafemi Ings That team would be lucky to get 30% of possession and very little defending in the top third. Would absolutely get walloped! JWP must play. Edited 17 August, 2019 by sydney_saint
Shroppie Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 That team would be lucky to get 30% if possession and very little defending in the top third. Would absolutely get walloped! JWP must play.Saved me saying it! Agreed. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

sydney_saint Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Possession got us a lot of goals against Burnley...This is Liverpool. We can't defend for 90 minutes against them. To be honest our defence can't defend 90 minutes against anyone anyway. To get anything from the game we will need stages of possession to take the heat out and also hopefully get them chasing and tiring after their Wednesday round trip. They will still have more of the ball, but we at least need some phases. Sent from my CPH1835 using Tapatalk

Apart from Danso being an unknown quantity, I like the look of this. Nothing to lose, let's have a real go at them. Charlie Nicholas on Sky predicting 2-2, I'm going for us to win 2-1
Convict Colony Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 I'd defo have Danso starting today, Liverpool have pace our starting CBs currently turn like oil tankers.
NewYorkSaint Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Burnley playing beautifully against Arsenal. Makes me feel a little, just a little, bit better about last week.
TWar Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 352 by the looks of it. Seems like a good idea to me. Hyper defensive with Che hitting on the break.
igsey Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Not sure playing super defensive against Liverpool is going to work, Redmond and Che have their work cut out. Also, how bad is that bench?
SuperSAINT Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 No Boufal on the bench Forster & McCarthy tombola subs-bench game continues.
Baird of the land Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Depressing set up. Seems to be utterly playing 8nto Liverpool’s hands. At least yoshi is back.
Lighthouse Posted 17 August, 2019 Author Posted 17 August, 2019 No Boufal on the bench Must be injured. Decent enough team I think.
bpsaint Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Was the Adrian injury just mind games from Klopp? Shame there’s no Danso, no faith in Vestergaard. Not much inspiration on that bench either.
Dr. Kucho Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Unimpressed with the lineup. Was hoping we would hit them with pace and attack after their midweek 120 minute game in Istanbul.
Window Cleaner Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Unimpressed with the lineup. Was hoping we would hit them with pace and attack after their midweek 120 minute game in Istanbul. Woiuldn't we need better players to do that though ? Far too many illusions about the quality of our effective unfortunately. Trying to contain them is our best plan.
ally_uk Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Hit them with pace and get smashed on the counter? Ok then......
Window Cleaner Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 No Boufal on the bench Probably because he's not very good at football.
saintwbu Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Probably because he's not very good at football. Was reported the other day that his father had passed away, so more likely to be that tbf - even more so considering Ralph said he made a positive impact v Burnley..
Convict Colony Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Probably because he's not very good at football.Hasn't stopped half our squad

Pamplemousse Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Any links to the game brothers ? http://www.livetotal.tv/c/football/england-premier-league/17-08-2019/southampton-vs-liverpool/7/
saintwbu Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 Talking him up to try to get some of Nice's new found cash trove. Yeah probably made up that his old man died as well, Nice will love that, will give him that burning desire inside to make him proud! ****

Colinjb Posted 17 August, 2019 Posted 17 August, 2019 That was before the Burnley game. Funerals take time to organise.
Lighthouse Posted 17 August, 2019 Author Posted 17 August, 2019 Funerals take time to organise. Aren’t Muslims traditionally buried within 24 hours of death? Sounds like a nightmare to organise but I’d have thought it’s been held already.

A fair point, although I believe delays can be held for postmortem purposes. Hopefully he isn't injured. It would be good to see his reintegration continue.
