verlaine1979 Posted 13 August, 2019 Posted 13 August, 2019 I'd say he was at least as good as ours. If he's dreadful, he's had some randomly very good games against us in the past.
Saint Billy Posted 13 August, 2019 Posted 13 August, 2019 Does it really matter who's in goal for Liverpool, I mean, come on, the other 10 players they have are just going to rip us apart and their keeper will rarely touch the ball. BTW, I'm trying to temp fate, it's the only option.
SNSUN Posted 13 August, 2019 Posted 13 August, 2019 Kill them with pace. 4-2-2-2 counter attacking. Gunn Valery Yoshida Danso Bertrand Hojbjerg Romeu Djenepo Redmond Long Adams I've gone for a Liverpool win in this one but in a close high-scoring game.
Heisenberg Posted 13 August, 2019 Posted 13 August, 2019 Even with tomorrow's long travel and distraction they will still be too good for us. Might help keep score down however.
austsaint Posted 13 August, 2019 Posted 13 August, 2019 Kill them with pace. 4-2-2-2 counter attacking. Gunn Valery Yoshida Danso Bertrand Hojbjerg Romeu Djenepo Redmond Long Adams I've gone for a Liverpool win in this one but in a close high-scoring game. Ings for Long (subs bench) and Boufal on with time to influence the game would be my changes to that side. Ralph won't drop Ward-Prowse though and he may consider Danso and Djenepo not ready. Nothing to lose though is there - in taking them on.
alehouseboys Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Even with tomorrow's long travel and distraction they will still be too good for us. They will be but how many will be rested anyway? Can't see them particularly fearing Chelsea or even putting too much emphasis on this fixture. They'll probably see it as a bit of warm-weather training. Need to see an improvement Saturday and then move on.

Saint Garrett Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 The fact he was released by West Ham suggest he isn't. He is worse than Mignolet IMO and easily worse than Gunn or McCarthy. But we have to actually trouble him which is the real issue which means possession near their goal and getting past Van Dijk. West Ham fans pretty much all thought Darren Randolph was better than Adrian - says a lot.
Batman Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 West Ham fans pretty much all thought Darren Randolph was better than Adrian - says a lot. we had fans who thought Jack Stephens was better than harry maguire and our own, Martin Caraces and that Mane was only as good as Ali Dia
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 we had fans who thought Jack Stephens was better than harry maguire and our own, Martin Caraces and that Mane was only as good as Ali Dia And we had some who wrote of Pelle as a statue
stevy777_x Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 we had fans who thought Jack Stephens was better than harry maguire and our own, Martin Caraces and that Mane was only as good as Ali Dia Most of our fan base don't know what they are talking about. They are a bit like the equivalent of English dinosaur managers who think that percentage football is how football should work. Well you have the same type of fans who only live in english football world and don't know what exists beyond that (player, club and league wise).

Batman Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 (edited) Liverpool looking pretty average at the mo, Losing 1-0 and totally deserved Loads of gaps in the Liverpool midfield Edited 14 August, 2019 by Batman
ErwinK1961 Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Liverpool looking pretty average at the mo, Losing 1-0 and totally deserved Loads of gaps in the Liverpool midfield Not sure our midfield will be quite up to the standard of Chelsea’s tbh to exploit it
Heisenberg Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Jumped on Liverpool at 4/1 1-1 3 mins later.
Hamilton Saint Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Why can no one say fans without saying fan base? A fan is a fan, regardless of any particular origin. I would have thought the term 'fan base', however, refers to a distinct demographic group from which most of the fans are thought to come. No?
Heisenberg Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Bit of extra time here might also help. Every little helps
CamberwellSaint Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Even a hint of some spine and nerve would be an improvement on last week, even if we still get beat by a goal or 3. If you're going to play 3 at the back they've got to be mobile and organised- surely this means Yoshida in with Bednarek, and I'd give Vestergaard another chance as Stephens has already had several too many. Liverpool are the kind of team that we should do well against in a 4-2-2-2, except they're a far-too-good version of that. Maybe this: Gunn Valery-Yoshida-Bednarek-Bertrand Hojbjerg-Romeu WardProwse- Boufal/Djenepo Adams- Redmond Looks skilled but lightweight.
Saints foreva Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Was just about to say Adrian has had a solid game for Liverpool, now he's given away a penalty.
Heisenberg Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 2-2 a heartbreaking penalty shoot out might dampen Liverpool spirits for Sat.
Batman Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 VAR been pretty efficient tonight. Chelsea score a crap penalty to be fair
whelk Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 VAR been pretty efficient tonight. Chelsea score a crap penalty to be fair Why am I not surprised Hoddle still doesn’t grasp it. States ‘ It has to be clear and obvious’ when referring to refs decision. Muppet.
Heisenberg Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Adrian given a timely boost for Saturday But the extra time in the heat will hurt them Insurance bet eases another Liverpool trophy
SaveloyMush Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Adrian given a timely boost for Saturday But the extra time in the heat will hurt them Insurance bet eases another Liverpool trophy Insurance against what, Twot?
wadesmith Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Gotta be good news for us. Liverpool probably celebrating deep into the morning. Don't get home until Thursday afternoon, still with alcohol in system. Really need to target this. Gonna be sluggish Saturday. Let's do this.
John Boy Saint Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 Good job VAR.... Think everyone just went “have you seen the time - yeah that’ll do it was a pants penalty anyway” “ come on pull the plug out let’s see if we can get a drink at Ali’s”.
Ohio Saint Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 I'm trying so hard to be optimistic.......however, all my optimism can muster is to not lose by too many goals
John Boy Saint Posted 14 August, 2019 Posted 14 August, 2019 We have Andre Marriner on the Whistle for this one and Craig Pawson watching TV sat in a van parked by the Gasometer.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 15 August, 2019 Posted 15 August, 2019 Shame we’re playing the bin dippers so early in the season but ultimately they have a far better team. Drubbing in store...probably 0-3. If we’re lucky.
beavis17 Posted 15 August, 2019 Posted 15 August, 2019 Gunn Valery Bednarek Danso Vestergaard Bertrand JWP Romeu Hojbjerg Adams Redmond
tajjuk Posted 15 August, 2019 Posted 15 August, 2019 Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Henderson, Fabinho, and Salah played the full 120 minutes, Mane played 103. With the travelling as well, the late night, it helps. They will still probably thrash us, but might rotate more after that.
Heisenberg Posted 15 August, 2019 Posted 15 August, 2019 Reminds me a little of league cup final We had something like 17 days to prepare vs Uniteds 2 days. Liverpool will only have the one training session focused on us now.... A real opportunity for us COYR

saints-cris Posted 15 August, 2019 Posted 15 August, 2019 The extra time and late night will certainly help us, but they are still way better than us. Hopefully they'll take it very easy when they go 2-0 up.
Shroppie Posted 15 August, 2019 Posted 15 August, 2019 Gunn Valery Bednarek Danso Vestergaard Bertrand JWP Romeu Hojbjerg Adams RedmondSwap Yoshida for Vestergaard and I'll agree. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
the saint in winchester Posted 15 August, 2019 Posted 15 August, 2019 Good job VAR.... Yeah, even with the naked eye and watching on my 32 inch Samsung, I could see Adrian was off his goal line BEFORE the ball was kicked. How VAR didn't spot that ... oh dear. And don't get me started on the earlier Abraham dive that VAR adjudged to be a penalty. And I am a VAR supporter! Bad night for VAR!!
magnet Posted 15 August, 2019 Posted 15 August, 2019 Gunn Valery Bednarek Yoshida Bertrand JWP Romeu Hojbjerg Boufal Adams Redmond Liverpool like to attack though the middle with little one twos so 3 in midfield will make them push the ball out to the wings where Valery and Betrand can play a more defensive role against Arnold and Robertson. Liverpool were playing a very high line last night so we need pace upfront to spring the offside trap so drop Ings for Boufal, I would say Djenepo but not sue he's had enough time with the team yet. I would target Arnold as he has looked a little shaky this season.
LeBizzier69 Posted 15 August, 2019 Posted 15 August, 2019 Hoping the extra booze intake will numb the pain. If I’m doubt, drink 2 more pints than usual.

I believe that after the women's world cup they decided keepers' movement at penalties would not be a matter for VAR. And the ref gave the Abraham penalty. The cynic in me wonders whether they didn't want to undermine the first all-female officials team. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
