SaintBobby Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 We need to be all over this. Ridiculous if not. OMG. He’d be perfect. So, I assume we aren’t interested! :-(
LeBenali Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Reed apparently talking with Fulham Odd as they just signed Harry Arter on loan the other day.
OldNick Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 No, it means we get £40m+ if he wants to leave next summer, instead of about £15m.That isn't good news for me. It maybe god news if you have a financial gain by this. Contracts mean SFA and so him signing one does protect the asset for the club but it doesn't mean he wont go in January or next summer. Sorry if I cant get too excited by players signing long contracts but its the cynic in me.
LGTL Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 I predicted this window at the end of January on the second post of the original 2019 Transfer Window thread. It’s another poor show lets be honest.
Micky Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Quite a long walk from the car park there, I hope they’ve got a golf buggy. They have, but they've decided to use the fork lift instead....!
SuperSAINT Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Reed apparently talking with Fulham Good news for Slattery & Smallbone if true.
Saint Garrett Posted 8 August, 2019 Author Posted 8 August, 2019 Wanyama was rumoured to be going to Bournemouth earlier on in the week.
Mr Saints Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Shame to see what has happened to Vic. He was such a colossus for us.
SuperSAINT Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Wanyama was rumoured to be going to Bournemouth earlier on in the week. Does them signing Billing rule that move out?
Appy Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Does them signing Billing rule that move out? Apparently, would love us to sign him.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 I doubt we will be signing a CB unless we get a quality bargain from somewhere No point in buying for sake of it
Lighthouse Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 That isn't good news for me. It maybe god news if you have a financial gain by this. Contracts mean SFA and so him signing one does protect the asset for the club but it doesn't mean he wont go in January or next summer. Sorry if I cant get too excited by players signing long contracts but its the cynic in me. As fans we do. It's like saying we might as well have let Lallana go free because we don't get any money. If we'd done that we wouldn't have been able to buy Mane and Tadic. It only means SFA if you pretend there is no connection between finances and whats on the pitch. Under Poortvleit our bank balance was quite apparent on match days.
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 I predicted this window at the end of January on the second post of the original 2019 Transfer Window thread. It’s another poor show lets be honest. How much did you win?
tajjuk Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Yeh Sky sports seems to think limited options, but we simply don't seem to do these deals. Aside McCarthy and Carillo who was the last player over about 25 we signed?
ally_uk Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Get Wanyama in and that lad from barca on loan that would be a decent window
hypochondriac Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Never going to happen but I'd love Vic on loan even if he's injured a fair amount.
EBS1980 Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 2pm press conference today so hopefully there will be questions about ins and outs asked
Saint Garrett Posted 8 August, 2019 Author Posted 8 August, 2019 2pm press conference today so hopefully there will be questions about ins and outs asked We'll certainly have some things confirmed you'd think. whether thats "we're done" or not...
Saint Pete Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 I actually think it seems more likely that if we sign anyone today it would be a CM rather than a CB on the basis that Lemina seems nailed on to leave over next couple of weeks, and also rumours of Reed going out on loan? That would surely leave a space for a signing of some sort at CM even if only a loan. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Raging Bull Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Any chance we can have some true ITK’ers on the board here to confirm or put us out of our misery? Guan or K Billy??
jamesfp1 Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Any chance we can have some true ITK’ers on the board here to confirm or put us out of our misery? Guan or K Billy?? I think they went with Les & co
Mr X Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Staggering that we haven't got a CB sorted when that was deemed a priority, I can see us getting an emergency one in next transfer Sent from my moto g(6) play using Tapatalk

Heisenberg Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 I think some of you are now aware of the mess Les Reed caused and was causing. Probably now realize why I was so desperate to get him out of our club. Clubs hands are now tied and we need to clean up the Les mess for another few transfer windows. Horrible but our reality

Heisenberg Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Fingers crossed we can survive it. At least now we have Ralph over Hughes #positives
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Never going to happen but I'd love Vic on loan even if he's injured a fair amount. Really...…. ?
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 At least now we have Ralph over Hughes #positives Exactly. It's amazing how those of us that were ahead of the curve with Hughes and Reed were criticised so much but now the conclusions are seen as 'obvious' as if everyone was on the same page from the beginning. Revisionist history.
Red Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Good news for Slattery & Smallbone if true. Wrong Reed - it's Bobby Reed according to Sky
Unbelievable Jeff Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Wrong Reed - it's Bobby Reed according to Sky Makes more sense - be leaving us far too exposed in that area if it was our Reed.
Red Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Wrong Reed - it's Bobby Reed according to Sky Ok just saw this: https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/fulham-in-pole-position-to-sign-southampton-player/ so maybe they are after both??
hypochondriac Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Really...…. ?Yes. Ledley King was injured loads for spurs but was excellent when he played. Wanyama on loan would definitely improve us in dm even if he can't play every game.
SaveloyMush Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 I would LOVE Wanyama back. I have a suspicion that Victor is somewhat older than his "official" age of 28...
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 (edited) Yes. Ledley King was injured loads for spurs but was excellent when he played. Wanyama on loan would definitely improve us in dm even if he can't play every game. Happy to pay what will be big wages for a bit part player... He has had his day here, if was still as capable as he was before, Poch would be keeping him.. Edited 8 August, 2019 by ALWAYS_SFC
Greenridge Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 It’s been mentioned many times that we are operating a one out one in strategy. On the assumption the Austin deal goes through then we should expect someone through our door.
hypochondriac Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Happy to pay what will be big wages for a bit part player... He has had his day here, if was still as capable as he was before Poch would be keeping him..If spurs want rid they may agree to a pay as you play deal or to subsidise his wages the same way we will be doing for some of our players. As I said it's not going to happen anyway but I certainly won't be writing him off entirely. He'd be an improvement in dm on what we have imo.
hackedoff Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 2pm press conference today so hopefully there will be questions about ins and outs asked Probably to announce that the decision to appoint Theresa May as the negotiator in all transfer deals was, in hindsight a mistake.
Heisenberg Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Not good enough for Spurs - not good enough for us? That's ridiculous I think some seriously underestimate how far behind Spurs and the top 6 sides we now are.
Saint Pete Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Happy to pay what will be big wages for a bit part player... He has had his day here, if was still as capable as he was before, Poch would be keeping him..The fact that he can't get in Spurs team doesn't necessarily mean he isn't significantly better than the limited options we have in that position currently. I get why we aren't normally keen on loans, but in our current situation, a couple of loans of experienced players in key positions until we can afford perm signings could make a big difference to us in my opinion. DT Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Wanyama back would be excellent Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 (edited) Strange to think some believe players (MS & VW- injury prone too) who were good for us and left for bigger things because of it now want them back despite the quality they had with us is no longer there...……. odd Edited 8 August, 2019 by ALWAYS_SFC
Dusic Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Fantastic news about Redmond, and well deserved. Protects the value of an asset that must now be worth about £50m in todays market. I would be very suprised if Reed went out on loan. Without him and Lemina, our midfield numbers look very light, Hojbjerg, Romeu and JWP (who has never really suited that position) plus Smallbone and Slattery. Getting Austin out on a perm would be good, as presumably not paying any of his wages then. Just seen the Notweigan Journo whose articles were quoted here yesterday saying Mboro have made an offer for Moi (presume loan). By the end of the Aug window our wage bill will be quite reduced.
Saint Matty 76 Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 The tweet says "concrete bid" so I'm kind of hoping it's a permanent offer.
SNSUN Posted 8 August, 2019 Posted 8 August, 2019 Makes more sense - be leaving us far too exposed in that area if it was our Reed. If we get rid of Harrison Reed, one of two of the true defensive midfielders in the squad, we might as well resort to long ball if Romeu gets suspended or injured. It’d be madness. Central midfield is weak enough as it is without losing another one, especially with Lemina on his way. We will concede goals galore. I really can’t see any incomings now with under 4 hours to go.
