aintforever Posted 29 August, 2019 Share Posted 29 August, 2019 How long do you want this session of Parliament to last, it’s already the longest since the 1650’s. It’s now time for remoaners to put their money where their mouths are and vote the Government down. Trailing round the TV studios moaning on won’t do it, it’s in their hands. I doubt enough will though, don’t want to risk losing their seats or handing Boris a larger majority. Boris is playing a blinder. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Just looks to me like a desperate act for a party that has painted itself into a corner. Even if they force through a no deal AND win the next election they still have to make a success of Brexit or they are finished as a party. If no deal Brexit is a disaster we will soon have a new government, second vote and be back in the EU.
Tamesaint Posted 29 August, 2019 Share Posted 29 August, 2019 I wonder how long the likes of Rudd and Hancock will be able to stay in this government. There is surely a limit as to how long they can hold their noses and go back on their previous announcements. Or are they so keen to climb the greasy pole of government that they will happily give up all their previous principles?

Perhaps like lifelong arch Brixiteer Jeremy Corbyn, ambition is more important than principle. Or maybe they’re like Sarah Wollaston, who in her short political career has been in 3 parties, as well as being for leave and then for Remain. Boris has set a ****ing big elephant trap, and Bercow, Grieve and the rest of the deranged Remainiacs have fallen straight into it. Now that is where Brexiteers hold the advantage, as we would almost certainly have to join as a new member state, and consequently demonstrate "the ability to take on and implement effectively the obligations of membership, including adherence to the aims of political, economic and monetary union". He tried to bluster with the EU and when that didnt work he provoked the MPs. He doesn't care who as long as he can 'show' he tried and 'its not my fault guv'. That way he has delivered on Brexit and still gets to be PM. Pity about Ruth Davidson and many of the sensible Tories who are standing down at the next election. If they are replaced by more headbangers the Tories will be in real trouble long term. Edited 29 August, 2019 by buctootim

Once out we have to get on with it, stop moaning about the rights and wrongs and fight for our future. It will be difficult but the options are limited. His first proper outing onto the streets since he became PM, and he just looks utterly lost and unable to counter any of the guy's points, or deal with the situation in any kind of competent manner. It's a total embarrassment and shows just how useless he is when he has no script to read from or his usual loveable buffoon act won't work. That's the point I was making. For purposes of objectivity I agree on that clip - its heckling basically and is only one way. Would have been interesting to hear his response. He had a lot of stick out and about though, and seemingly not the organised Momentum/Socialist Worker variety either. A shock for him away from his lower profile as London Mayor and the sycophantic bubble of the DT minions, Spectator, Bridgen etc, this job is a million times harder than he thought. My sense is that he believed Cummings could plot his way through - but is proving an even bigger millstone than Coulson was for Cameron. His best chance is to get rid by the end of the weekend and at least go down fighting with his own ideas. Farage is full of hot air - don’t know why the Tory Party take him so seriously. In a prolonged GE campaign, where the issues will go beyond Brexit, Farage will be an absolute liability. Every time time the media get him a millimetre off Brexit - NHS, immigration, education - he has been appalling.

His prior comments on the NHS are an accident waiting to happen if an outlet is persistent, link that back to the £350m lie and leaves Boris in big trouble as well.
