Annoyingly it is almost guaranteed Boris will win the no confidence vote.

He will be untouchable for a year and the unbearable drivel about how we can now all move on and his mandate will make me want to top myself.

Mad Nad nailing her colours to the mast already. She only supports Johnson because she knows full well there isn't another candidate quite stupid or desperate enough to have her in their cabinet. Likewise Liz Truss.

She thinks she's being clever but all she is doing is admitting that her party were woefully unprepared for a pandemic, which she has strenuously denied previously. She couldn't outwit a blancmange.

This is important and I hope people take note, because if Johnson goes there will be an effort to rebrand the successor as the "new" Tory party, like Johnson himself successfully did after ousting May.

Graham Bradley has strongly hinted that the rule about no further challenge for a year might be removed.

It is possible to thank departing staff and still adhere to socially distancing rules. Unless we have all missed something and the small print said that the PM is exempt and all staff leaving his service need a party and plenty to drink?

I think the reasoning is more the lying to Parliament bit rather than the cake bit. The fact that he is the only sitting PM to ever have been confirmed to have broken the law is also pretty damning.

So you keep telling us, while utterly failing to grasp that it's not the cake or the curry that is the real issue; it's the principle.

No real difference to Labour bending the knee to their donors.

 

I agree, the principle was ridiculous and could cost the leader of the opposition (and his no.2) their jobs.

Most worrying is that the blatant gaslighting lying sems to have to spread out from Johnson like a cancer. Its almosty Putinesque. He has to go for that reason alone.

No one wins and recovers. Enough Tories know he has lost the confidence of the voters and cannot recover. Not policies but trust and cannot be won back. Been exposed.

What do we reckon in terms of tonight? He’ll get the 180 in favour, would be very surprised if he didn’t. Under 75 against would be a big result, 90-100 medium damaging but could carry on. Over 100 worse damage, limping on and over 125 would be very challenging for any longer than 12 months. JRM said earlier that a victory by 1 was sufficient and was reminded of his quote from the ERG having launched the challenge v May. He had to apologise to her in effect on R5L. As for Dorries, saw the barrage v Hunt, haven’t seen the donors quote yet but let’s face it anyone with a brain knows they exist for their paymasters anyway. The paymasters have changed to some extent with Brexit eg Odey, JCB, Vote Leave and hangers on. Why I vote Lib Dem.

Apparently he would have done worse than Theresa May did in her no confidence vote if there are more than 133 votes against him. She only lasted s few months after that. If there are more than 133 votes against him, he really is a dead man walking.

Not quite sure how abstentions fit into that scenario.

211 for, 148 against. Wow, only 63 clear. Tories are as cohesive and broken as Saints playing a high line in the 4222 formation against a front two of Son and Mbappe.
