um pahars Posted 20 January, 2009 Author Posted 20 January, 2009 Following on from my thread last night about Hockaday which has turned out to be on the money, I was told in the same conversation that we have a "Football Advisor" at St Mary's who reports direct to Lowe. The name given to me was something like Tim Van Der Witte. Have no idea where he fits in in the scheme of things, but the stories I have heard is that he is none too popoular here, or at other clubs!!!! He was mentioned at the same time as Hockaday as my contact reckons he was involved in some way with Hockaday's departure. So who exactly is he??? What's his experience??? What's his role??? How much is he costing??? Does Poortvliet report to him??? Why hasn't it been made public??? Bullshyt, gossip, tittle tattle, I have no idea, but considering it came in the same conversation as Hockaday being booted out, then I think it might have some legs. I was always led to believe that Hockaday had Lowe's ear, but maybe there is a new Rasputin at St Mary's. Anyone got any better contacts???? Considering the stewards have to be informed of all people who walk the corridors of SMS (according tothe Echo re the Armstrong saga), then surely someone must be able to get a name.

alpine_saint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 As someone else has said, we are supposed to believe that this "mystery man" + JP + Wotte + Gorre + Mr. M. Mouse is cheaper than Pearson was ??? Lowe is a prize waanker.

thefuriousb Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I am not an apologist though I can understand why some think I may be, but is it that they are cheaper, or just that they make up what was/is to be the "grand plan" to try and take the club forward (of which there is no evident signs, ie results)?

Badger Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Johan Spastic. Of course Rupert could still be taking informal advice from Hoddle;our recruitment policy of recycling youngsters to give another chance does have a similarity to his academy.

Didn't one of our posters meet an agent at Southampton Airport a year back? He seemed to have the whole Dutch story explained to him well before Rupert came back? I can't remember if he mentioned a name though. (Think it was one of our Spanish named intelligence sources)

hugh Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 As with a couple of others, that name rings a bell. I am sure that there was a picture posted during the pre-season of this bloke standing on the sidelines talking to both Rupert and JP. It was the general conclusion that he was a Dutch agent, possibly JP's, but I could be wrong and frequently am!

PaulSaint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 So Who Is Lowe's Football Advisor??? I reckon it could be "Paul Gascoigne", he ends most days at the bottom of a table?

Saint Martini Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I never ever heard of a Dutch bloke that closely resembles that name in Dutch football. He must be a gigantic nobody.

John B Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 As most of the well informed posters on here say Lowe knows nothing about football if indeed he has a football advisor is that not a good idea.

Not really when Lowe said the reason that they let Pearson go was money. Add all the subsequent salaries together now and we could have kept Pearson. Devious lying Lowe strikes again
SaintRobbie Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Lowe doesnt have a football advisor. He doesnt need one...apparently.

Add all the subsequent salaries together now and we could have kept Pearson. Devious lying Lowe strikes again Why not really? So if Pearson was here he does not need an advisor if so why not? By the way is Pearson the manager who with a more experience squad of players got us into a similar position we are today
Snowballs2 Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Why not really? So if Pearson was here he does not need an advisor if so why not? Pearson does not need the supervision that apparently Jan does, based on his results
Saint Bowood Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I spoke to an ex-player before Xmas and he mentioned that there was another Dutch guy in the mix (not Gorre) - he thought his role was primarily recruitment (I assumed he meant player recruitment although that was not explicitly confirmed).
John B Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Lowe doesnt have a football advisor. He doesnt need one...apparently. I have been watching Saints for nearly fifty years but I dont really understand all this hype about managers tactics and motivation. I thought some teams were rubbish and some not three clubs have to be relegated If we had some decent players we wouldv not be in our present position. If Surman and Lallana are worth millions why are they helping us to produce better results. We are rubbish what can a manager do to improve it.? If players are too tense in front of goal what can be done. Posters are saying get in Dowie and Boothroyd but both of them have failed recently at other clubs
Bailey Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 There is this one chap that sits in the Directors Box alongside Wotte every home game. I often wonder who he is and what he does but have never managed to figure it out. If someone managed to post a picture of this supposed 'football advisor' then I may just be able to put a name to a face.
Master Bates Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Posters are saying get in Dowie and Boothroyd but both of them have failed recently at other clubs Gordon Strachan had also failed recent to joining us.
John B Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Gordon Strachan had also failed recent to joining us. Yes I take your point but I still cannot get my head round how much a manager influences teams.
Torbay Saint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Yes I take your point but I still cannot get my head round how much a manager influences teams. Just ask a Nottingham Forest fan...
slickmick Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Yes I take your point but I still cannot get my head round how much a manager influences teams. Best ask Forest. I get your point though, the players themselves have a lot to answer for.
ottery st mary Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Narrowed down to a poster on here called nick....waiting for my source named Michael to get back to me.....He has had some wild guesses in the past so will askhim several times. The leader in the film The Lavender Hill Mob was called Holland....now, I had forgotten that....How appropriate. Mind you they were a funny lot, taking things that were not theirs and causing a right mess with whatever they touched. Led by some True upper class English Gent.
John B Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Best ask Forest. I get your point though, the players themselves have a lot to answer for. Yes I know Forest are winning but they did win before Davies took over but Watford Charlton are not doing that well with new managers. Spurs are slightly better under Redknapp but they do have some really good players it just seems hit and miss to me Pearson took us over last year and very nearly took us down. If Wright had not made that save we would have been relegated probably.

If Wright had not made that save we would have been relegated probably. If Dodd and Gorman had stayed in charge, it's a pretty safe bet that we would have been relegated well before the final game of the season. No, of course that can't be proved, but if you look at how results went with that pair in charge it looks highly likely. Pearson slowed the Dodd/Gorman plummet to a decline, then stabilised and improved things. He wasn't a miracle worker, but I'd say he made a positive difference.

There can't be many times when Saints have brought in a new manager and he instantly turned things around, but as we seem to be getting worse and little sign of improvement, I think we have little choice. With Pearson, he won 2, drew 2 and lost 1 from our last 5 games. To me that is the sign of improvement that has not been seen this season.

I think we have been pretty poor all season going right back to the Blackpool game but sometimes we play well but need to make many clearcut chances. I know we got to the play offs in season 2 but the other seasons in the Championship have been dire. Thats why I like the idea of trying to bring in high quality youngsters in order to eventually develop a team which we can be proud of not a bunch of overpaid untalented footballers With no money we are well and truly stuffed. Perhaps another manager will get more out of the team than JP time will tell

Bet you can't! - The person sitting next to Wotte (am I doing here?) is female (was wearing big earings, even though you can't see them in this picture, and I don't know any bloke that would wear them to a football match!). This picture was taken at 6 minutes to 5 on Saturday 17th January just before the final whistle blew. Notice that Askham is looking towards the Northam end whereas most others are looking towards the Chapel end. Protests getting to him perhaps?

Bailey Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 That's the guy! It's the chap on the ladies left that is always at the games. (not Wotte ) He's present at every home game and I often see him chatting to Wotte, Lowe and Wilde etc. Now we need some investigative people to find out who this guy is and see if there's anything in this!

Looking at this picture of The Directors and hangers on...(whom, are the resident posters on here) The new Director of the re make of The Lavender Hill Mob has got the new cast here at St Marys, all in one group. I don't mean to be rude...but I will try not to be......Some would say..What a Motley crew.....But me, I would not go so far... Did I use whom in the wrong context?
Master Bates Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 That guy was at one of our friendlies, I remember mentioning it on here. BALLS!!!!!!!! just did a search for Tardif as he told me about him, but can't find it, must be on the old forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
