Spades Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 A friend has just texted me to say that on Radio Solent they have just said that Rupert only was intending to go to Staplewood for a pep talk and the Echo has mis-represented the meeting. Can anyone confirm that this is what Radio Solent said? I dont think it is just a small meeting at the training ground quotes like 'We have to do what is right for the club' are very unlikely to link to something like 'we must stop the 1 striker up front formation and revert back to 4-4-2'... surely there is more to the meeting than talking tactics?
DT Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Ladies and gentlemen - will you please welcome.... Another false dawn!
Frank's cousin Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I dont think it is just a small meeting at the training ground quotes like 'We have to do what is right for the club' are very unlikely to link to something like 'we must stop the 1 striker up front formation and revert back to 4-4-2'... surely there is more to the meeting than talking tactics? UHm would not be so sure....its obvious Rupert believes that under the current situation 'JP is best for the club...' hopefully i am wrong
JustMike Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 this is bull! how on earth does even Lord Lowe not see that JP is not up to it???
DT Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 this is bull! how on earth does even Lord Lowe not see that JP is not up to it??? Because he is supremely arrogant and intellectually sub-normal.
SaintRobbie Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Robbie, go back to work. LOL. But this is more important.
SaintRobbie Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 A friend has just texted me to say that on Radio Solent they have just said that Rupert only was intending to go to Staplewood for a pep talk and the Echo has mis-represented the meeting. Can anyone confirm that this is what Radio Solent said? So it was a pep talk. A Churchillian 'you're all doing very well'... or was it an Atlee-esque declaration that 'all will be well with the plan'. Either way sounds terribly unoptimistic.
thorpie the sinner Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 A bloody pep talk!!!!! I can't believe it!!!! This clubs astounds me more day by day
trousers Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 So, I assume the forum was blacked out on purpose so that the result of the meeting will never be known...ever....?
Master Bates Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Normally when the forum goes down there's big news, here's hoping.
ericofarabia Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Normally when the forum goes down there's big news, here's hoping. Is it Friday already?
Weston Saint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Lowe will meet the coaches and then address the players. He will no doubt continue to endorse the "Dutch" way and perhaps give Wotte a more prominent role as joint head coach with JP. He will site our financial position as being a major factor but will tell the players he will keep faith with their undoubted talent and continue to support their development. That is my take on the meeting today without any inside or outside knowledge. Hope I am wrong though!Looks like I was right No news is bad news. Echo sensationalising a normal get together?
StubbSaint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 If the club has to pay compensation to JP, Lowe will have to sell our best players to cover the costs of this. Yet another example of our playing staff being detrimentally determined by management incompetence. and what best players might that be , kelvin and thats it, and only because he has more to do than any other player
DT Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Normally when the forum goes down there's big news, here's hoping. Perhaps a mod could let us know why it went down? Did a certain someone call on the batphone? Or was it harmless internetty jiggery pokery?
dubai_phil Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Is it Friday already? Oh do TRY and keep up. It is Wednesday this week. According to my new dual English/Islamic calendar it is Wednesday the 24th of wobblelinebigsquiggle, also 2-60 of Miladi with expected west north winds of speed medium . Next week there is the chance of light Tortoises on Monday and a top raining period by mid week making it likely to be a Friday of next week which should be 1-70 if it isn't the 24th of the 20th... I kid you not, I love this Dubai real Estate Calendar, now if I can just find out what flip squigglysquigglybig U flippetyflippety means I could tell you the exact time of the bid as well
dubai_phil Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 oops sorry for the confusion, the light Tortoises actually translates as Al Arbeein Al Meralaai. hope that clears any confusion. Hey certainly clearer than all the signals coming out of SMS at the moment

DT Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 right, can someone please explain why he STILL hasnt been sacked??? Because Lowe is always right and the Dutchman is doing a really good job, you fool. It's obvious. I mean, we beat someone once.
DT Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 PS Rupert you are a turd with the brains of a flea.
DT Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 PPS Mr Lowe - you have no business acumen, are arrogant, and know nothing about football. Bet you are rubbish at hockey too.
JustMike Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Because Lowe is always right and the Dutchman is doing a really good job, you fool. It's obvious. I mean, we beat someone once. ahhh yes, silly me Seriously though, it is beyond me that even Lowe will carry on with the dutchman!!
alpine_saint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Has Poortvillet been sacked yet ? I must have missed the announcement..
DT Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 No because he is doing a really good job with der boysh and we play good no? We just need a bit of luck...(and a manager, chairman, midfield, defence, attack, finance, a witch, endless Fridays, a takeover, a makeover, a takeaway and Playaway)
dubai_phil Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 right, can someone please explain why he STILL hasnt been sacked??? being pedantic, how do we know he hasn't? after all we're only the fans, don't expect us to get to know anything important from the OS and the Echo guys are probably off for Happy Hour down the pub by now Which is where I'm off to

explorer saint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 And just to cheer us up our brave res team went down fighting to the mighty lions of millwall 1-2, but they did play well and all was good until the ref blew for the kick off
saint lard Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 This "crises meeting" has been blown out of proportion methinks. Rupert, having a chat with the players and JP along the lines of "you need to pull your fingers out i am supporting Jan and you need to do the same as players,i still believe you can come good and Jan is the man to make that happen" Rupert will disclose the meeting to the press as a positive one "clearing the air and making it crystal clear in everyones minds what we need to do to push on making sure we are carry on heading in the right direction and playing attractive football" Hence the Status quo will remain...........and no. nothing to do with the band before some brightspark trys to crack a funny.
Weston Saint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 JAN Poortvliet came through this morning's crunch meeting at Saints unscathed and in a fighting mood. The head coach met with PLC chairman Rupert Lowe and the Saints players at Staplewood, in a bid to help find a solution to the club's dismal home form. The meeting was called in the wake of Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Doncaster. The pressure on Poortvliet increased following the home loss against the relegation rivals and there was speculation his job could be at risk. The Dutchman said he was well aware of that, but believed minds had been sharpened as a result of the talks. "I think it was great this morning," he said. "Everyone talked, it was good and the boys know what to do. He added: "I think we have to work even harder, because I think it's a fight."

chi saint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Well if there was a time to get rid of JP, this was it, with the two week break. It's now time to don the life jackets, get up on deck and see if we hit the fast approaching iceberg that is relegation, or if we just scrap by and survive!
SaintRobbie Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I'd like to personally congratulate Rupert Lowe for this super meeting... your leadership is inspirational and I know that we will now walk this league. Automatic promotion here we come. Thank you for cutting short your holiday, without you the CLub was heading for the rocks. I am just so relieved. Inspired far more than Obama's inauguration. Mr Lowe - you are a legend. Please stand again for parliament, you are a wonderful man. OMG.
explorer saint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 'Great news so right guys what we need to do is get fit, run around a bit more and lets see where that takes us, oh we are now bottom' This beggars belief, for just a second I thought Lowe would of got the meassage or realised he has screwed up, but no even now he still wont admit to any mistakes and do the decent thing but no he will let us continue to slide for the sake of his own ego.
