trousers Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 The players have had two days off? Why? They were **** saturday, get them back into training and working. FFS, you play **** and you get 2 days off as a reward. Aye. Just posted that...sorry to steal your thunder Unbelievable isn't it!
trousers Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Relevant or not but someone said on another thread they heard Fulthorpe speaking to Cowen and said something along the lines of 'we will be in charge by Wednesday' ? Yep....I too believe he said that.....on 23rd September 2008.....etc
ottery st mary Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Ain't many left to choose from is there..... Wonder wotte the gorrey details will be when they come out As a Scotsman would say, Hoch a Day.
dubai_phil Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Relevant or not but someone said on another thread they heard Fulthorpe speaking to Cowen and said something along the lines of 'we will be in charge by Wednesday' ? Obviously with a pinch of salt on my behalf in terms of yeah right we all know that old story, but that statement was made by JF in public to Andrew Cowen and heard by a good friend and reliable source on Saturday in the general area of hospitality before the game, it's just another thought that makes me think that what lowe really needs to do today is to see if the management has lost the dressing room or not and whether a short term deckchair shuffle is possible.
Wade Garrett Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Lowe will meet the coaches and then address the players. He will no doubt continue to endorse the "Dutch" way and perhaps give Wotte a more prominent role as joint head coach with JP. He will site our financial position as being a major factor but will tell the players he will keep faith with their undoubted talent and continue to support their development. That is my take on the meeting today without any inside or outside knowledge. Hope I am wrong though! I hope you are too wrong Ron Ron. (Sorry I'll get my coat).
ottery st mary Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I hope the Chairman of Football is in charge of this football team/management meeting.
Hatch Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Rupert will appoint himself as manager. Expect to see him in his RL Tracksuit by 5pm today.
OldNick Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Rupert will appoint himself as manager. Expect to see him in his RL Tracksuit by 5pm today.Lol

That is my take on the meeting today without any inside or outside knowledge. Hope I am wrong though! I sadly think you might be right. Reinforcing failure with more failure (Wotte) is not the way to go though. JP must be sacked. A new manager and Director of Football (Lowe replacement) must be found VERY VERY SOON... certainly by the Norwich game. Lowe hanging on or trying to keep this foolishness going will result in utter disaster. I mean UTTER disaster.
Saint Bowood Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 hahaaa.the cunning plan is: Joint Head Coaches with JP taking the team for away games and Wotte for home games (but with home games switched to Staplewood - only 40 parking spaces so no crowd to pressure the players ) Brilliant!
slickmick Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Optimists view. Lowe will address to the players and coaches that a takeover has been excepted and he will be standing down.

david in sweden Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 It does sound to me as if JP may have lost the dressing room. For RL to say "AS OF NOW Jan has my full support" to me says that could well change after this morning. What happens is anyone's guess but it seems like things are getting worse before they'll get better......maybe a lot worse Life at SFC is becoming a Soap Opera..... Indeed it is, and the loosely concealed " support " from RL is actually the " kiss of death " for the Dutch trainers. I recall the comment from many years ago, whenever a " soon-to-be-sacked " manager was given a vote of confidence by the Board of Directors, he was usually out of a job within a fortnight. Sorry Jan, I really liked your efforts and it's helped the Academy lads develop a lot quicker than they would have done before, BUT.. sadly there was no-one there to put away all those half chances.
georgeg Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Optimists view. Lowe will address to the players and coaches that a takeover has been excepted and he will be standing down. please, please. please. please!!!!!!!!
Whitey Grandad Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Rupert will appoint himself as manager. Expect to see him in his RL Tracksuit by 5pm today. But I thought we needed the cheap option???
Um Bongo Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Aye. Just posted that...sorry to steal your thunder Unbelievable isn't it! You put it better anyway. Just popping down to the stadium now. If i see Rupes i'll be sure to pass on the messages.
saints_is_the_south Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 JP has been absent since saturday The players have been absent since saturday Hockaday has been absent since saturday Something is deffo going on. Absent since saturday? I don't recall anybody turning up saturday either, or most of the season for that matter!
charliemiller Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Did any of you consider that Roops might have had a resignation on his desk yesterday
dubai_phil Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Did any of you consider that Roops might have had a resignation on his desk yesterday Which would explain a return to Holland to hide away from the glare of the Echo's hounds. Would make a nice tidy solution, JP admits the pressure is too much but shows what he did manage in his cv.. Ah speculation, hasn't been like this since the old PA takeover days. As it matters not a jot to Rupe's what we post on here I'll wait for the press conference or statement to come out some time in the next .... year or so
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Did any of you consider that Roops might have had a resignation on his desk yesterday He is known for producing letters at meetings !!

OldNick Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Nervous laughter?!Oh yeah Im RL's PR plant you've found me out.Lol.Now that is in the open, can you tell me how to get my invoice through to the club so I can get paid? We now have 3 'amigos' who think Im a club PR plant. Alpine Ottery and Trousers. You 3 should become private investigators, because you are good at it.Lol
DT Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 If he was really serious he's have said "by Friday" By which time one would hope that Skacel will have signed.
dubai_phil Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Ha - just thought - IF he did quit and flew home then no doubt the crisis is actually not about manager but about them trying to track down where the fook JP went so they can deliver the NDA for him to sign lol
Big Bad Bob Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 If he was really serious he's have said "by Friday" No, no, no, do you not read the takeover threads...Wednesday is the NEW friday, or was that Sunday??

yorkiesaint Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 i think this is a likely scenario, JP has offered to quit, the meeting is to agree terms. or am i getting overexcited!
OldNick Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I hate being peoples biach.I just wish you'd be a bit quicker serving up the Quails eggs and champers for me and Calvin to quaff
slickmick Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 What if it was another who flew the coup on Saturday!! Who are you referring to ? Wilde ? Wotte ?

Big Bad Bob Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I hate being peoples biach. Isn't he a bisexual composer?? BTW I'm not making any speculation on the meeting as any one of a number of things is going to happen.
dubai_phil Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 What if it was another who flew the coup on Saturday!! Or was getting his a** fried for running away...... Hubble bubble toil and trouble.... Like I said over the weekend, the wisest thing to have done would be to log off and let this week pass as most is speculation, some statements simply wrong and others harmful to the club. but it's like those old Doctor Who episodes when you were a kid - you can't watch but you have to peep out from the end of the sofa just in case!

Big Bad Bob Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I think I know who Davros is. Our next manager?? http://www.quizardry.com/index.php?id=31&lid=18 (still makes me laugh!!)
Charlie Wayman Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 It may be that Wilde has told Lowe that he no longer has his backing and Cowan has whispered in Lowe's ear. Will Wilde force another EGM or will Lowe go quietly once he realises that he could no longer win a majority vote - but, and it's a BIG BUT do we want Crouch back either? Wilde certainly wouldn't back him. Maybe with Lowe out, Cowan would be a good compromise chairman?
Goodfellas Jay Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 "This morning will be the first time Lowe has been able to speak to Poortvliet since Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to relegation rivals Doncaster. The head coach has been in Holland since the loss, as the players had Sunday and Monday off." That's what disturbs me most....we have possibly our worst result in 30 years (losing to Doncaster at home must be up there with a shout) and what happens? The players and management take a two day break. Cue the 'excuse' that "there's no game next week so no need to rush players back" but what message does it send out when the players aren't summonsed into work for two days following such a poor day at the office? Stachan would have had them in at 6am on the Sunday (or at least told them to turn up then and not do so himself...!) This institutional apathy sums it up for me.... He did do just that.... (And I'm sure I've put this on here before!) Strachan wreaks his revenge Gordon Strachan was apoplectic after Southampton's home defeat by Everton last weekend, describing it as ''the worst performance since I've been here''. The players were told to report for extra training at 10 o'clock on Sunday morning, though when they arrived there was no sign of the manager. At 10.20am coach Dennis Rofe received a call on his mobile phone suggesting they continue warming up and Strachan would ''be there soon''. Another 20 minutes went by when Rofe's phone bleeped again, and his master's voice said he still ''had things to do'' but would be arriving soon. Two hours dragged by and Strachan rang for the third time. ''Right,'' he told the players via Rofe, ''I've wasted your time this morning like you wasted my time yesterday''. And the line went dead.
bridge too far Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Does anyone know: a) what time the meeting is scheduled for b) who is ACTUALLY attending - players, playing staff, board members....... oh and do we have anyone there watching?

Window Cleaner Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 and http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4059686.Hockaday_placed_on_gardening_leave/ perhaps he's been meddling with team affairs behind Jan's back. Wouldn't be the first and wouldn't be the last.
Thedelldays Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 This is just brilliant remember at the time it happening and shows what a great manager/motivator GS was. yep... i loved the fact he went out spying on the players after rumours were about that they were on the pop more than they were supposed to.... another one..we lost on sky and during the post match interview he was asked how the players are feeling..he said he did not know as he just locked them in the dressing room for them to sort it out themselves as THEY let the fans down that day... just looking back..it was amazing how he got the level of performaces out of some pretty average players....how we did not do everything to keep him is beyond me.. god I miss him
