Saint-Reece Posted 13 July, 2019 Posted 13 July, 2019 If it’s anything like last years pre season hopefully they’ll be showing it on YouTube!
Saint-Reece Posted 13 July, 2019 Posted 13 July, 2019 Anyone know if the game in Austria tomorrow is going to be shown online? Just seen it will be shown on the OS and Facebook live

John Boy Saint Posted 13 July, 2019 Posted 13 July, 2019 Anymore rumours at all about a game in Ireland? Looking at the last training video they are likely to be getting a game at Croke Park - Long will love that with his background! Cedric too with his shooting!
Dusic Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 4-2-2-2 in the friendly today. Interesting Adams has been given Austin's number!
suewhistle Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 I've just opened a bottle of Gruner Veltliner from Weingut Stadt Krems to get myself in a an Austrian mood. Any of our nutters out there? Steve? ;-)
SNSUN Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 West Ham beat them 3-2 on Thursday. Strong line up today for a first pre-season friendly.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Can’t we have one summer without ITK hint hint sh1te if you know something post it if not save it for the pub. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Wasn’t trying to make out I was in the know. The rumour was that there has been a bust up between RH and his nos 2. I really don’t know if it’s true, I was hoping not but it seems strange and I was hoping someone on here knew something. I am very sorry if my post irritated you.
suewhistle Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 On the OS: https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2019-07-14/live-broadcast-scr-altach-southampton-pre-season-friendly-austria
TWar Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Che Adams immediately scores. So good at shielding the ball.
Colinjb Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Ché Adams, 1-0 on 2 minutes. Held off his defender well to turn and finish.
iansums Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 1-0 Saints, Adams daisy cutter into the corner, just like on his You Tube video.
SuperSAINT Posted 14 July, 2019 Author Posted 14 July, 2019 Che Adams - scuffed. :-) I was just going to ask
Cabbage_Face Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Scuffed finish, Adams no good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mallagroth Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Friendly has got a bit of bite to it so far which is unusual, got a competitive edge. Great streaming coverage as well.
CJ_SAINT Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Good goal from Altach, deserved IMO, only a friendly so not overly bothered, but even here Ely looks out of his depth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nordic Saint Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Adams looks good but we've still got major problems in the centre of our defence.
shurlock Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Agreed. Not much marking going on. I don't think we expected them to be so up for this. Midfield very lightweight Sims and Ely especially. Hoj and Romeu not even looking to playing through them. Going very early and direct to Adams and to a lesser extent Long.
Matthew Le God Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Sims and Ely especially. Hoj and Romeu not even looking to playing through them. Going very early and direct to Adams and to a lesser extent Long. That is how Hasenhuttl's 4222 system worked at RB Leipzig. You go direct to the quick strikers, if they get it great, if they don't then the opponent is on the back foot trying to deal with it and stretched out of position and you counter press high up the pitch. Hard to do with Elyounoussi... as he is ****!

Hard to do with Elyounoussi... as he is ****! I know but you’d expect Sims and Elyounoussi to be more involved and there’d be a bit more variety in play. It also makes it hard to get the fullbacks involved as they can’t possibly get up the pitch in such quick time. Anyway it’s preseason and all taken with a pinch of salt.

A front four of Redmond, Djenepro, Ings & Adams would be interesting to see using the style. Gunn Valery Bednarek Vestergaard Bertrand Ward-Prowse Hojbjerg Redmond Djenepro Ings Adams

suewhistle Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Adams has looked useful: good finish, hit the post, robbed a defender and had a shot cleared off the line. Sims has been well offside about 3 times. Elyonoussi sort of involved.. central defence vulnerable to the ball over the top. Ho hum.
LeBenali Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Very lightweight in centre mid for the second half! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Turkish Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 A front four of Redmond, Djenepro, Ings & Adams would be interesting to see using the style. Gunn Valery Bednarek Vestergaard Bertrand Ward-Prowse Hojbjerg Redmond Djenepro Ings Adams Ridiculous team. Far too lightweight in in the middle. That team would get torn to pieces by a quick, strong midfield and attack. I would say as important as a decent centre back is a proper defensive midfielder in the wanyama mould to sit in front of them.

We might get away with an attacking four if we bring in a more mobile upgrade on Romeu. But if we’re starting Romeu and Hoj, JWP will move further up and provide a bit more balance while one of Redmond, Djenepo, Ings or Adams will give way.
Red Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Is Ings injured yet? Looked like he was playing with one
suewhistle Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Hmm, the defence looked less vulnerable in the second half, but that was probably Altach tiring? Our forwards seemed less likely to score too although Redmond was lively. Dan N'D looks a unit but him and Obafemi look a bit raw. None of the kids looked out of place, no Lee Todds there (one for the older fans..). JWP had a bit of bite even in a friendly.
Batman Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Why not? Because defensively, it would get torn apart, like it did much of last season
DT Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 Why was Stephens playing? I don't get it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Saint Matty 76 Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 If we were able to get away without playing a DM next to Hojbjerg then we wouldn't be getting rid of Lemina. It's Romeu or preferably a new signing. Personally I wouldn't mind JWP/Djenepo behind Redmond/Adams during Ings' inevitable injury periods.
Micky Posted 14 July, 2019 Posted 14 July, 2019 so what was the score?3 - 1 to Liverpool, but I was at Valley Parade...! Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
