Frank's cousin Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Lol. It won't happen. Please name one other football club of our size that this has happened to. Wimbledon...
eelpie Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I think you'll find that was Harold MacMillan  50 years ago.
hypochondriac Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Wimbledon... The circumstances and situation were completely different.
Frank's cousin Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 The circumstances and situation were completely different. True, but its less about the symtoms that caused the admin and more about teh consequences... same as Brighton whose ground was sold etc. I do think the consequences could be quite hideous....
buctootim Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 Actually there has been no change in ownership recently. The current structure has been in place for some time, but only recently has the decision been made to ditch the Norwich Union name in GB and make it more joined up in the whole of Europe. It's purely a rebranding exercise. The Aviva name was an original term with no prior connotations chosen partly for it's appeal as a palindrome, that is a fact. I checked -you're right. I dont know why I thought they were French.
bridge too far Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 I checked -you're right. I dont know why I thought they were French. Were you thinking of Axa? I think that company's French owned.
saintbletch Posted 20 January, 2009 Posted 20 January, 2009 True' date=' but its less about the symtoms that caused the admin and more about teh consequences... same as Brighton whose ground was sold etc. I do think the consequences could be quite hideous....[/quote'] Agree with FC but rather than being about the symptoms of their administration, it's more about the economic environment we find ourselves in right now that is more important. If we were to go into administration, no previous club would have had the perfect-storm combination of a) our debts, b) the frozen credit market c) a waining and divided fan base and d) the fact that we've already been in the shop window for the last several years without a buyer e) associated with d - no apparent sugar-daddy fan waiting in the wings. Administration wouldn't be a walk in the park. And I don't believe there are any guarantees that a team going into administration right now would come out the other side. Looking at the past and stating that it ( a club going out of business ) hasn't happened before ignores the unique economic climate we find ourselves in IMO.
eelpie Posted 21 January, 2009 Posted 21 January, 2009 Whilst they're all off of my Christmas card list, trading the club, as we know it, for a few quid out of their collective pockets is pretty petty. They have done it before before. £1 a share, I believe is what it cost them to make millions at our expense.
70's Mike Posted 21 January, 2009 Posted 21 January, 2009 another rubbish rumour a sunday no public announcement so cannot be official
Deano6 Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 How was it for everyone? I had a lovely cup of tea and garibaldi and voted "Yes"!
DT Posted 13 February, 2009 Posted 13 February, 2009 How was it for everyone? I had a lovely cup of tea and garibaldi and voted "Yes"! Funny you should say that, Gary Baldi is our new Premiership loan striker.
