6 Points ahead of Cardiff with 3 to play. We are now effectively safe.

But we are shooting ourselves in the foot, that game should have been out of sight.

good point

we missed some very good opportunities but essential point anyway.

puts us 3 ahead of brighton and 6 above cardiff, who now need to get 7 points AT THE VERY LEAST from their last 3

Taking off long and leaving Redmond up top alone, offering nothing, cost us then as well.

We’re simply not good enough in both boxes, that’s why we’re where we are. However, that point should be enough to secure safety now though.

We played well for the most part but we've dropped more points once again because of woeful defending. We desperately need to improve our defence in the summer.

I think Ralph made a mistake putting Redmond upfront when Long went off, he looked knackered and didn't offer us an outlet.

Just to be clear, if we can scrape a draw against Huddersfield, Cardiff will NEED TO WIN at Old Trafford. That's if our other four results all go perfectly in their favour.

Virtual safety but would have been really fantastic to have it complete. There’s a very worrying frailty to us since VVD left, to be honest. Need to spend big on a central defender with class. And then a striker. These giveaways have almost cost us a place in the Prem

Never get anything against Watford. Ever.

Horrible sh1thouse team who are incredibly limited without ‘Mr refreshing honesty from...’ Troy Deeney: ergo frog-faces fat bully boy.

Irrespective, we only have ourselves to blame for not seeing the game out but fkkk me, Watford are sh1t. They’ll struggle next year, guaranteed. They’re not just on the beach, they’re genuinely cr4p. Horrible, niggly, limited and dull.

We’ll be ok. We’ve done magnificent really, with a patched up team of youth, ostracised pros and has-beens. Would love to see how we recruit in the summer and more importantly, if we can get rid of the cr4p like Forster, Hoedt etc.

Long had picked up an injury and couldn't continue. Not sure what other option RH had in the circumstances?

Should have got a 2nd before half time. Poor finishing. Still, would have taken 1 point at the start but feels like Watford robbed us again.

Was that Watford goal marginally offside?

Posted

Thought we played really well and did enough to get the win. The last 5 minutes we looked out on our feet and could see us dropping deeper which Watford took advantage of. Decent point but probably too late as think we're already relegated.....lol

Frustrating to lose the win so late but that’s another PL record for a Saints player and a very useful point.

Unlikely that either Cardiff OR Brighton finish above us with their run ins, even if we don’t get another point.

Good performance until about 85 mins, at which point we seemed determined to let them score. Could see the goal coming a mile out. Shame.

And Brighton would have to get 4 points from 3 games. Isn't going to happen.

Won 4-3 there the other season

Thought we shaded it to be honest, if any team deserved to win that it was us. No blame for the equaliser, the ball just fell to their player. Gutted not to get the win, but there's a whole lot more positives in that performance than negatives. Onwards and upwards.

Redmond can be so profligate still. Knew we’d regret those misses. Ah well. Would have taken a point before k/o

We're well organised now, but you can see why we were so useless under Hughes - we're really lacking some fundamental areas like passing and control. To take even the most basic care of the ball we have to slow the game right down and rely on the CBs to circulate it. After spurning a couple of good chances in the first half, we barely managed to string two passes together in the second, and gave Watford every opportunity to try and kick their misfiring attack back into gear, which they duly did. We'll stay up, but the squad needs a complete overhaul that we almost certainly can't afford.

Thought Stephens had a good game but i’m sure someone will blame him for the equaliser. Yoshida good as well. Prowsey very good. Lemina nice and tidy when he came on as always and two absolutely top drawer saves from Gunn. Not sure why people are criticising Valery coming on, did some good bits defensively and allowed JWP to be further forward where he was very good. Plus, Ings would’ve done **** all like normal apart from give the ball away.

Other than Austin and Ings, none....

Well it's obviously infuriating that we still can't seem to put a game to bed, but I would have taken a point before the game. And the longer it went without us scoring that second, the more inevitable the equaliser became.

Overall though, have to say it was a cracking game of football with both teams going for it. Very enjoyable to watch.

Had we held on, it would have left Cardiff needing to win all three of their remaining games. We still need one more win to be guaranteed, but I reckon we will still stay up even if we don't get another point all season. Which is incredibly unlikely.

Should have won that.

1 point from the last 3 is making heavy work of this run in. Should have been in the clear by now.

Just get the 3 against Bournemouth and lets finally kill off any doubts.

It will all be sorted before Huddersfield come to town.

So frustrating and too predictable. "Would have taken a point" is our mantra.

Having said that we are much, much better under Ralph.

Seemed to be a bit of arguing going on there at the end. Stephens and Hojberg. Good to see passion though. Hoj is the right man for captain.

Would have taken the point before the game but naturally disappointed to only end up with 1 point and not 3 after leading for that long, especially with the chances we spurned.

How many points is that now we’ve conceded from winning/drawing positions?

Posted

And imagine the hoohah on here had we conceded after either of those two coming on... "Why the **** did RH bring a striker on for when we needed to protect our lead...? Blah blah blah"

Damned if you do, damned if you don't

Our subs ruined the game. We must have the mentally weakest team in the history of the Premier League. Don't know how to kill off a game, that Watford goal was so obviously coming. Sick of this season and some of this team.
