Doctoroncall Posted 27 March, 2019 Share Posted 27 March, 2019 Due to hit our streets in 2022. So will it be no more overtaking? A move towards automation? It’s bad enough sitting behind a lorry overtaking another over a mile on the motorway/dual carriageway but on a single carriageway A road, it’ll be more difficult or impossible. What next the telemetry data sent to insurance companies? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47715415

benjii Posted 28 March, 2019 Share Posted 28 March, 2019 So whats the point of it? To make speeding unpleasant.

OldNick Posted 29 March, 2019 Share Posted 29 March, 2019 The system can be overridden by the driver.I suspect only for a short period. The insurance companies will be pushing that all speed data be kept of driving so that if you are speeding and have an accident they can walk away as you are breaking the law
John Boy Saint Posted 29 March, 2019 Share Posted 29 March, 2019 The one thing that seems to have slipped under the radar is that it is a bit big brother, yes I know your phone gives the game away where you are, but this will be a system that is implemented by the government so they will be able to monitor exactly where you are.........isn’t that an invasion of civil liberties? Saint Luke Posted 1 April, 2019 Share Posted 1 April, 2019 If you watched the Hunted programme where people tried to stay on the run then you will see that the government can pretty much track every vehicle if it's reasonably new. They were able to locate a car once they new it's registration. So big brother has been doing this for years already.
buctootim Posted 1 April, 2019 Share Posted 1 April, 2019 You can switch your phone off. You can switch your car off too. Kind of defeats the purpose of having them though.
