Singapore Saint Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 Done some calculations on how likely the English teams are to be drawn against each other in the Champions League quarter-finals: Probability of AT LEAST 2 English teams meeting each other in the CL quarter-finals = 3/7 + 4/7 x 2/5 + 4/7 x 3/5 x 1/3 = 77.1% Probability of ALL 4 English teams MEETING each other in the quarter-finals = 3/7 x 1/5 = 8.57% Probability of ALL 4 English teams AVOIDING each other in the quarter-finals = 4/7 x 3/5 x 2/3 x 1/1 = 22.9% Probability of LIVERPOOL being drawn against either Man Utd or Man City = 2/7 = 28.6% Assumption: Draw is entirely random.

Really fascinating stuff.
John Boy Saint Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 Very interesting but not saints related Nothing much is going to be for the next 2 and a bit weeks.
Hatch Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 Assumption: Draw is entirely random. and that is where it all falls down.
oldsarum Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 more important and relevant to most Saints fans is we will play Dinamo Zagreb at St Mary's in International Cup Semi Final https://southamptonfc.com/news/2019-03-14/premier-league-international-cup-semi-final-draw-southampton-dinamo-zagreb
Charlie Wayman Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 Quite frankly darling, I don't give a damn!
Pilchards Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 I wonder what the calculations are on Saints fans not giving a ****e?
sydney_saint Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 Don't give any ****s. How exactly did you think this thread would go down?
kwsaint Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 and that is where it all falls down. Was it true that in the scottish cup they used to warm the Celtic and Rangers balls before the draw so that they could prevent them playing each other?
Yorkshire Saint Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 0% I thought they were not able to be drawn together before the semi.
Singapore Saint Posted 14 March, 2019 Author Posted 14 March, 2019 0% I thought they were not able to be drawn together before the semi. They are, the rules have changed in that teams from the same nation are not kept apart as they used to be.
Toomer Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 I would love Spurs to draw City with City at home 2nd leg and Spurs go out.
Dark Munster Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 and that is where it all falls down. Indeed. Barcelona vs. Porto Juventus vs. Ajax Eng. vs. Eng Eng. vs. Eng
aintforever Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 Hopefully it’s Spurs v Liverpool, then at least one of the c*nts will go out.

whelk Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 Indeed. Barcelona vs. Porto Juventus vs. Ajax Eng. vs. Eng Eng. vs. Eng Man City have got Barca
Jonnyboy Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 6 English teams through to the quarters of Europe, when's the last time that happened?
Dark Munster Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 Man City have got Barca Too risky for Barca. They'll be coddled into the semis at least. Hopefully it’s Spurs v Liverpool, then at least one of the c*nts will go out. Sounds like a plan. With City or Barca waiting for the winner in the semis. Warm up those balls.
Pilchards Posted 14 March, 2019 Posted 14 March, 2019 6 English teams through to the quarters of Europe, when's the last time that happened? Today?
Badger Posted 15 March, 2019 Posted 15 March, 2019 As long as Liverpool win Jack,I don't care. Did you mistype that or would you really be pleased to see VD win it? Anyone but a team with VD in it, or Spurs, is preferable to me.
SW5 SAINT Posted 15 March, 2019 Posted 15 March, 2019 I don’t care who wins the CL as long as it’s not Liverpool, Tottenham or ManU.........
nta786 Posted 15 March, 2019 Posted 15 March, 2019 6 English teams through to the quarters of Europe, when's the last time that happened? 1971 apparently. anyway draw been made. i do think its slightly suspicious how the 4 favourites for the trophy have been kept apart, if i was a conspiracist. Ajax vs Juve Liverpool vs Porto Spurs vs City Barcelona vs Man United
