Get in there Saints you surprise merchants!!!!

Who would have predicted that result at half time? Big win Saints - brilliant second half turnaround.

I missed the first half. I assume the match thread will make amusing reading courtesy of the usual suspects...? ;)

Great win. COYR!!!

The Match Thread is could be moved to Golden Posts, if you'd have watched the first half you might not have watched the second!

Well this is just typical. I watch the first half and we are rubbish, start watching the second half and we keep missing good chances. I start noticing I am going all ‘Alpine/Glasgow’ and decide to go out and walk the dog. Come back and just see the replay of JWP’s free kick going in...

So relieved and happy now.

Great turn around, great subs, great team effort!! Was getting tons of **** from Spurs fans in that first half...all gone quiet now!!!

Oh...and yes I was wrong!

Alpine worked his magic yet again.

First home win v Spurs in 14 years, only 4 days away from it being to the day. That was a lucky win after Spurs spurned chances and we took our one. This was so much better.

WHAT A ****ING TURNAROUND. Incredible, we looked utterly ****e and clueless for the entire first half then came out like a totally different side. Sims was ****ing brilliant, bemusing he couldn't get a game for Reading.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!???? Amazing turnaround. We were so bad in that first half it was unreal. Football - bloody hell!

Where's Josh Sims been hiding while we've been wasting time on that useless nomark Elyounoussi? Did more in five minutes than our major signing has managed in nine months.

Wow! Can't believe it. Credit to the manager for changing things at h/t, but it shouldn't have come to that in the first place.

White knuckle stuff. Valery was a disaster in possession all day, but hey, a poaching full back - we've invented a new position. "Set piece expert" Prowse is actually getting quite good at them now... ;)

F-ing hell, that was VITAL. We can hopefully enjoy the next three weeks relatively stress free - until the next time. We're not doing it easy.

When was the last time we came from behind to beat a team in the top 3?

Great result Saints and can't wait tomorrow when I'll see a couple of Spurs mates!

For years when jwp was over free kicks there was much hype little end product. Now he looks a weapon. On top of that he’s got a good aggressiveness now. Surely an England cap awaits. Turning down watford in the summer looks wise now.

Sims, makes you wonder why he couldn’t buy a game at reading or since he’s been back.

Also amusing how getting rid of long sparked our goals. That header of his at start of second half was atrocious.

2 red cards that should have been given and would have been given if the players in question weren’t from teams in the top 4.

What a ****ing massive win. Same scorers as Old Trafford too. Sounds like Sims changed the game - can people now see itwas the Reading regime the reason that his loan spell was unimpressive, not his talent. He's more effective than Moi. Great subs, great management. With Newcastle and Cardiff also winning, that drags everyone above us back into it, with Huddersfield and Fulham gone, Burnley will be nervous.

I wasn't going to go out tonight, I might now!

I've added a poll. Everyone played their part second half, but Sims changed the game for me. Another assured performance by JWP and Gunn as well.

Play sums every week please. Absolutely insane that he's been farmed out on loan rather than playing. Many people have been desperate for him to get some game time and he was written off as not good enough by the usual suspects.

We weren't terrible in the first half but some bold substitutions at half time and we found an extra gear for the entire half for sure.

Austin and Hojberg weren't at their best. Spurs couldn't handle Simms and Valery. Not that Simms was that effective, but he was a willing runner and allowed Valery to have much more space than he should have been allowed. Redmond a handful. As was Armstrong when he came on. Ward Prowse goalscoring record makes him the first name on the team sheet. I am concerned that our forwards aren't scoring though - its going to hurt us sooner or later and we need Ings back before that day comes. In the meantime, a great team performance and resolute defending with a commanding goalkeeper saw us home. Great result.

As said above, great subs.

I was surprised that it took Sims so many games to get on the bench after his brace in the U23's' It's not so much the goals it was more that his movement was so good, always looking to get behind the defence.

Last season he was hugging the touchline, and getting shoved out of play when he tried to beat his man,

As for JWP, Ralph has transformed him. One of the first names on the teamsheet now, and I think Romeu could be the one to drop out when Lemina comes back.

Last 10 would have been a lot more comfortable if Kevin No=Friend-of-Saints had given to obvious straight reds.

Well done all !

Is JAMES WARD PROWSE officialy a free kick specialist now?

You would have to say he is - a beautifully taken strike. Thought Ralph's half-time decision to belatedly give Josh Sims his chance turned the game - his movement, touch and runs turned Spurs around, brought Redmond into the game and took the pressure off our CBs. Sims has to stay in the squad - Ings, Redmond, Sims with cameos from Armstrong is the attack which can keep us up - not Austin and Long. Sensational comeback - great to watch that second half.

I don't know if it was luck or by design but Ralph putting in a lot of pace in the 2nd half, when Spurs were tiring due to playing mid-week, was brilliant.

That reminded of the game we came back to beat Liverpool 3-2

useless, terrible in the first half. Brilliant in the 2nd

how they never got a player sent off is beyond me. No wonder we are getting VAR, the refs are consistently getting big calls wrong. More worryingly, in decisions that should not need a video replay.

great result and JwP MoM for me.

People are saying they should have had two red cards. The foul on Sims was one - what was the other? Was it the little skirmish between Redmond and Sissoko? I didn't see that properly as I was a bit distracted.

This.

Crucial win. And remaining fixtures favor Saints

Cardiff's remaining 8 fixtures are brutal (Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man U)

Burnley's remaining 9 fixtures included (Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal)

Southampton (only one Top 6 club in remaining 8 fixtures, Liverpool at home)

Yep, Sissoko shoves his forehead into Redmonds face and pushes him back with it. Clear as day a red, i've seen red cards given for subtler movements.
