BotleySaint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Lucky you be 1 nil. Ref has been a bit one sided. Don't expect anything today. But hope west ham can turn it around!
austsaint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Pretty embarrassing half really. Lucky to still be within sight of Spurs. It has been hard to watch - Spurs outclassing us. Ralph has to try something different....4 at the back, Armstrong, even Sims on to try and put them under some pressure. Saints look like a poor Championship side today and Spurs look like a Champions League outfit.
supersonic Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 even when we have a free-kick in the spurs half, we still look like conceding. Fans, and the players are an embarrassment.
captainchris Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 (edited) I'd take Vestergaard off for Armstrong, 4 at the back, romeu and hojberg sit, JWP behind Austin with Armstrong left and Redmond right. Sent from my SM-J600FN using Tapatalk Certainly need something very different. Hodj not really been playing well for a while and should be replaced however Armstrong is not good enough yet for this level. Back four needs to be a serious consideration.... saint1977 Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 We need to come out 100mph 2nd half straight away to get anything, in their faces etc. Too easy atm for Spurs. If I was Ralph I'd keep them out there with the fitness trainer, sprint exercises and WGS character running. Strikers, Redmond and JWP (the only outfield players who have vaguely tried or worked hard IMO) can work on hold ups and finishing with the subs supplying them. The players would just have to deal with it and a bit of flak from the fans would build resilience and personality. There's a gap to the next game so it won't hurt them.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 The boos were clearly for the ref. Hes done ok though !! particularly giving them free kicks but not to us in similar circumstances but thats ok

hasper57saint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Kevin Friend 1 Saints nil. And we have two yellows. Unless Ralph kicks a few arses in this break we can forget the rest of this game.
Saint Benali Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 We need to come out 100mph 2nd half straight away to get anything, in their faces etc. Too easy atm for Spurs. The commentator mentioned that. When they have the ball we don't close them down or try and tackle them. Soon as we get the ball there are two players in our players face forcing a mistake. We have shown them far too much respect and playing ultra defensive football is great if you can keep them out. But from the first minute that never looked the case. We need bodies forwards. Austin was a LB at one point....
qwertyell Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 That was a 1-0 massacre. Genuinely one of the worst defensive displays I've ever seen - Spurs had 4 on 3 counters all half long. It wasn't men against boys, more like men against headless chickens. It's extraordinary that we've got two holding midfielder, but neither of them are within 40 yards of the defence in transition. We didn't press, we didn't hustle, we didn't put Spurs under any pressure at all - we looked appalling. Tactically, technically, individually and collectively it's been a horror show. Yet we're only a goal down. With any other team you might think that's cause for optimism, but I can't see any way we can come back. We can't even complete three passes in a row. Where's the energy? I mean, Jesus, give us something... Sent from my F3311 using Tapatalk
Bad Wolf Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 (edited) If this game were FM, switch mode to "Very Rigid" under "Standard" and set the following touchline instructions: Hit early crosses More direct passing Standard backline Run at defence Much higher tempo. I'd also unclick: Get stuck in. Wouldn't it be great if life were that simple Edited 9 March, 2019 by Instant Classic
captainchris Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 To frank it is BS that we are a pressing closing down team. Most games we do not do that at all !!!!
Donatello Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Bit of a mauling that, so to get in at 0-1 is something of a 'blessing'. As others have mentioned, despicable level of effort from PEH for their goal. Think I'd rather have Armstrong/Long/Sims attacking with Redmond, i.e. some form of combination that can counter/relieve pressure (by retaining possession in their half).
Bad Wolf Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 To frank it is BS that we are a pressing closing down team. Most games we do not do that at all !!!! We haven't got the personale to be a full fledged pressing team. We do it more so than under than last three managers but that's no great achievement.
JustMike Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 even when we have a free-kick in the spurs half, we still look like conceding. Fans, and the players are an embarrassment. Yes, it's the fans fault
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 To frank it is BS that we are a pressing closing down team. Most games we do not do that at all !!!! You clearly dont watch properly, RH choses which games to be heavy pressing in and this isnt one of them as when we have they move the ball so well at speed and we get left behind..
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Long and Sims on... Pick the moans out of that, sorry i meant bones
OttawaSaint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Refs fault....again Who said it was the refs fault?
Saint_clark Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Sims, finally. Gets a chance in one of the toughest games though...wish he'd get an extended run in the team. Sent from my SM-J600FN using Tapatalk
SaltashSaint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Great to see Sims on, but why are we still playing the three centre backs?!
Sheaf Saint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Long and Sims on... Pick the moans out of that, sorry i meant bones First thing Sims does is hit a shot on target. First thing Long does is mis-control the ball and give it away.
Saint_clark Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Sims showing straight away why I think he should be starting. Sent from my SM-J600FN using Tapatalk
OttawaSaint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Hilarious. Austin off and his replacement Long immediately fluffs a chance that Austin would have buried.
Bensfcno1 Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 How is PEH still on the pitch? It’s like the space jam monsters have stolen his ability to pass again.
Donatello Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Great to see Sims on, but why are we still playing the three centre backs?! Because our CBs would get even more of a battering in a two.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Hilarious. Austin off and his replacement Long immediately fluffs a chance that Austin would have buried. TBH fair it took a deflection
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Gale will be realy gutted if Spurs don`t win heavily
adrian lord Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Cardiff 2-0 Looking grim. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sheaf Saint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Cardiff 2-0 Fcks sake. West Ham picked a terrible game (from our perspective) to have one of their off-days.
St Marco Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Sims has been excellent since he has come on. Always trying to go forwards and create something.
SaltashSaint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Because our CBs would get even more of a battering in a two. Totally disagree I'm afraid. We are so open in the middle of the park due to a lack of numbers. Three defenders marking Kane is daft and leaves so much space and time for Ali and Eriksen.
hypochondriac Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 All those people who said sims wasn't good enough look stupid. He's done more in the last ten minutes than elyonoussi has done the entire season.
Saints foreva Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Weren't there a few on here who said Cardiff wouldn't win another game? Awkward...
Sheaf Saint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 We're going down. After today, Cardiff still have to play 4 of the top 6. We only have to play one of them. That's what I'm clinging on to anyway.
OttawaSaint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Some fans only intersted in Cardiff...no golf i suppose Surely his pitching wedge could use a poilish...
SaintTex Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Hilarious. Austin off and his replacement Long immediately fluffs a chance that Austin would have buried. Yeah but Austin would have been 10 yards further back up the pitch.
Vancouver Saint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 We're playing better but Cardiff now 2-0 up. West Ham doing us no favours. Brighton beating Palace?! Shaping up for 3 weeks in the relegation zone...not what we wanted but might just be the motivation we need for the run-in.
Sheaf Saint Posted 9 March, 2019 Posted 9 March, 2019 Weren't there a few on here who said Cardiff wouldn't win another game? Awkward... They haven't won yet.
