Total lack of sharpness up front without Ings and Gabiaddini. Contained comfortably by them really.. Need to mix it up second half of lose to a break away or set piece goal.

What a dire first half of football.

there was a few glimpses of good attacking football from us but no end product

Bertrand's return has been impressive - very little else has been. Has to replace Long; I'd rather Austin at H/T, or even Elynoussi. Awful half of Football.

Awful half of football, wish we would just shoot more outside the box more rather than have one more misplaced pass.

Bound to concede to a long through.

People need to get a grip on themselves. We’re playing another side with absolutely no ambition at all who’ll be happy to leave without getting beaten.

We’ve not been great but it’s tough to find a gap and Stephens and Vestegaard are getting as far forward as our other midfielders at times just to provide options and try to open space.

I suspect we’ll see a forward thinking change, perhaps losing JWP for Austin/Gallagher

We really do have some wet blankets on here. We have been by far the better team, and they have come for a point.

Yep, really not worth going on match threads unless we are winning easily

Absolutely toothless going forward.

Cardiff looking dangerous from set pieces.

Lots of effort, but we're very laboured on the ball. I fear for us if we have to chase the game.

This. We look awful in the final third. Shane Long, why? Only player who looks like scoring is Redmond. If they score first, can't see that we have enough about us to get back. I'd actually take a point now.

By far the better side but we've created no real chances. Yes, by far the better side.

I think the biggest issue is that Shane Long clearly isn't providing any movement. This sort of game suits Austin more.

Also, why are we lumping it in the box at times when that suits Cardiff - i'd like to see Holjberg/Redmond have a few more efforts - both can shoot well.

They are parking the bus completely, zero ambition which is a bit pathetic IMO considering its a 6 pointer. Just need to remain patient and keep pushing for a goal.

we did the same at Chelsea to be fair.

And they'll easily get a point, or more, unless we play a lot better than we have first half.

It's got Trotters Independent Traders written all over it.

Haha.

To be fair, a few others felt it was necessary under the circumstances. Maybe - would've been very Saints-like to concede just before HT.

Away to a top 6 side as a relegation threatened team is a bit different to being away to a team you could go above if you win and in a relegation 6 pointer

We so badly short of a cutting edge up front. So easy to see we needed this most in the last window. Cardiff have come for a win - their strategy is to frustrate for as long as possible then go for it in the last 15 mins when the crowd are getting on our own backs...

...C'mon Saints gotta score a goal!
