BotleySaint Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 What was the injury for Ings?Could be anything but he was hobbling a bit when walking away.
Sheaf Saint Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Looked like it could/should have been a penalty in real time, but in the slo-mo replay you can see Barnes is already going over before there is any contact. Poor from Alex though. Got his positioning all wrong there.
Lighthouse Posted 2 February, 2019 Author Posted 2 February, 2019 Doncaster? He’s been riding side saddle since he was 17... Must have been a screaming, great left footer.
Mr X Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 we are surely going to pay the price for a shambles of a transfer window at some point now
OttawaSaint Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Must have been a screaming, great left footer. And a raddish. But who would marry him?

Poor from Alex though. Got his positioning all wrong there. Indeed. Brilliant refereeing
bpsaint Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 If the ref sees that penalty appeal again at half time he’ll try and make amends second half I reckon
trousers Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 The only reason I can think that the ref didn't give it is that Barnes pokes the ball right and then moves left to ensure he makes contact with the goalkeeper. I still think it's a penalty but maybe if Barnes had moved in the same direction as the ball the outcome would have been different. Clutching at straws but hey ho
bazza Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Only saw the replay of the ‘penalty’ incident, looks like a dive to me.
DT Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Sorry, where is Hojberg? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed. he was not in control of the ball, hit the ground badly with trailing foot and stumbled into Alex. who was in the wrong place. not a penalty. not a dive either.
trousers Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Sorry, where is Hojberg? Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkHead injury on Wednesday
DT Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Head injury on Wednesday Thanks. Was worried for a bit. Is he OK? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
miserableoldgit Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Sorry, where is Hojberg? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Out with head injury from Wednesday
Jonnyboy Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 If he'd actually made an effort to jump over the keeper he'd have got the pen. McCarthy is entitled to dive for the ball.
Ohio Saint Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Thanks. Was worried for a bit. Is he OK? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk No, he's got a head injury.
trousers Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Thanks. Was worried for a bit. Is he OK? Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkAssume so. Probably one of those mandatory can't play for X days on medical advice cases
Mr X Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 we haven't looked good at all the last couple of games
trousers Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 If he'd actually made an effort to jump over the keeper he'd have got the pen. McCarthy is entitled to dive for the ball.Having initially thought it was a stonewall pen, I'm now thinking that Barnes engineered it rather than it being a simple case of McCarthy bringing him down. Could well be the right decision in hindsight
Batman Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 haha got to love fan bias in saying that was not a penalty for Burnely.
Bad Wolf Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 we haven't looked good at all the last couple of games Probably because we have a squad of players who aren't very good. Despite the majority of fans that seem to think "With the players we've got, we should be midtable". Even Hoj isn't a particularly good player, he's just got a brilliant attitude which makes up for his technical short comings.
Ohio Saint Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 haha got to love fan bias in saying that was not a penalty for Burnely. I saw critical thinking based on evidence. If it was bias, they never would have said it was a penalty in the first place.
trousers Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 haha got to love fan bias in saying that was not a penalty for Burnely.Analysing it a bit more = fan bias ? If you say so squire.... FWIW, I still think it was a penalty, on balance, but I can see why the ref didn't give it
OttawaSaint Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 haha got to love fan bias in saying that was not a penalty for Burnely. Haha. Got to laugh at flagrant contrarians. Always one that wants to look special.
adrian lord Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Gonna be a long 2nd half hoping to hold out at 0-0...
Batman Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 personally, I think JwP not being in the middle is taking some quality away from us. lots of huff and puff but have defended well enough and had clear luck from the ref (again)
tajjuk Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 So we are back to a team with no Ings, Bertrand, Lemina and Hojberg, looking short on quality again.
nta786 Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 half time 0-0 find myself yawning at times watching the stream, dull game really from both! oh well
10i Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 JWP at rwb seems to be an okay spot if you really want him involved, but without Hojbjerg and Lemina Slatteryis the best option who tries to avoid being any part of the game. Better not get the ball and better not get involved in any duels. Romeu havin to run the dem-show on his own...
Mr X Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Probably because we have a squad of players who aren't very good. Despite the majority of fans that seem to think "With the players we've got, we should be midtable". Even Hoj isn't a particularly good player, he's just got a brilliant attitude which makes up for his technical short comings. Agreed average players with a few poor ones in the mix but the reality is we are going to need to beat the likes of Burnley with the players we have somehow, ings was the one bright spark & he will be out for some time again most probably
Pamplemousse Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Burnley fans are the new Stoke fans. Horrible whinging bunch.
verlaine1979 Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 On the basis of 90 minutes against Palace and 45 against Burnley, the belief that we're already too good to go down under RH looks misguided. We already looked toothless with Ings on the pitch, and appear to have no idea how to create openings without the assistance of an opposition mistake.
Ohio Saint Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Haha. Got to laugh at flagrant contrarians. Always one that wants to look special. To be fair, he IS special. His education proves it.
striker Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Not looking good. What was Ings injury? He walked off by himself. Did they give any report? Love the Burnley players freaking out on every ref call now. They are going to lose control.
Pamplemousse Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Barnes should have been sent off. Yellow for the blatant dive, another for dissent.
Batman Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 To be fair, he IS special. His education proves it. what are you on about?
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 haha got to love fan bias in saying that was not a penalty for Burnely. Who cares, the ref didn't give but I know you are disappointed
shurlock Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Not looking good. What was Ings injury? He walked off by himself. Did they give any report? Love the Burnley players freaking out on every ref call now. They are going to lose control. Not if the ref decides to 'level' things up.
obelisk Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Saints players hardly look interested at all.
adrian lord Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Did Ings even bother to try to run his knock off?
Ohio Saint Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 what are you on about? Your special education, duh!
trousers Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Not if the ref decides to 'level' things up.This is inevitable I would venture
Batman Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Your special education, duh! what would you know about it? why on earth are you getting personal? WTF?! not acceptable to be honest
trousers Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Did Ings even bother to try to run his knock off?My guess would be a reoccurrence of his recent hamstring injury. Perhaps it just felt tight and he came off as a precaution
Saints foreva Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Barnes should have been sent off. Yellow for the blatant dive, another for dissent. The fact the referee didn't give him a second booking makes me think he instantly regretted the decision....
Baird of the land Posted 2 February, 2019 Posted 2 February, 2019 Played very well for first 20 and ings should have scored when put straight through. Got lucky on penalty. Barnes is theatrical but McCarthy doesn’t get ball and his leg would have tripped Barnes. Ings injury may be more than a knock, he was ignoring the clapping during his lap of the touch line which maybe suggests deflation/worry on his part. Still think we’ve got other options in that position if need be. Jwp has done fine at wingback. Slatery has looked bright apart from his early (was it a slip) or a foul on their defender.
