By far the better side so far. Thought Hoj, Redmond and Vester were excellent.

JWP needs to get the ball forwards rather than look for a safe pass all the time. Even Bednerak has been more effective attacking wise than him so far.

JWP needs to learn how to play on the turn. He'll hit it backwards to a player he can see even if there's open space for him to turn into. It's a profound weakness for a central midfielder to lack awareness of the space around him.

Whereas Romeu consistently looks to play forward.

Good effort by Saints so far and unlucky not to be in the lead really. Everton look to have more quality but aren't creating too much. Some of our fannying around on the ball worries me a bit.

Only caught the last 20 mins but looks like we are the ones creating the best chances. Has McCarthy even been tested yet?

No. Maybe would have been but bednarek threw himself in the way.

We are creating much more than they are

Not sure that McCarthy playing the ball short to Vestergaard is doing us favours - Vest likes to play with the ball at his feet, which is fine at the halfway line, but he seems to dally for a second too long when 6 yards outside our area.

Doesn't look comfortable when he has to play the ball with his left foot imo.

Played pretty well in that first half, especially in the first 20 minutes. I fear we'll be made to pay for not scoring when we were on top - we definitely faded as the half wore on.

Targett going off has killed our width. Valery is the only outlet, and I've not seen him deliver a cross yet in his fledgling career that wasn't utterly useless.

I'd probably take a point from here - there's no way we don't have a catastrophically sloppy defensive foul up in our near future.

Ref must be a Scouser. So many niggly Everton fouls let go.

Although I though Targett was on for a yellow fouling Lookman. Getting himself injured got him off it, I reckon.

If we were "by far" the better side, we'd be winning.

thought target actually looked decent today before he went off

Much the better side but our play is deceptive -while we’ve created chances by capitalising on their errors and breaking quickly, we’ve lacked any real control and our buildup play has been scrappy.

Hoj and Romeu on their day are just awesome. They've won the ball so many times, and both have put in killer passes to launch attacks. Ings + Redmond posing genuine and exciting threat. And our back three getting stronger all the time.

Believe!

Are you implying teams who play the best always win? We have hit the post twice and made saves out of their keeper. They haven't really had a shot have they?

Yes. The object of the game isn't to hit the post or cause the keeper to make saves. It's to score goals. If team a scores one goal from one shot and wins 1-0, while team b have 20 shots, hit the post 6 times and force a dozen saves, team a are the better team.

Saying you deserve to win a football match because you've hit the post the most times is like claiming you deserve to win at Monopoly because you've rolled the most doubles.

No it means the team that had 1 shot won by luck. It doesn't mean they were the better team.

But your point revolves around the fact that team that hits the post loads and makes the keeper keep making saves won't score. Which as we have now scored shows we are the better side playing the better football and are deservedly winning.
