Batman Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 (edited) Unbelievably proud today with the players I am in a fantastic job at this club the passion of the squad is outstanding We played perfect counter attacking football in the 1st half we forced mistakes and that is how we scored Long was key for us we were brave today we had to defend like a real team with fantastic commitment I said to Shane, you deserve to score, you work so hard he is quick and has a good head, his mentality is good it was a good game from him I hope I can bring him back to how he was a couple of years ago I think the 2nd yellow for Valery was harsh Maybe a warning would have been better but it was harsh we focused our balance and shape we played 531 and sat deep, we defended well I told them they must stay in the shape, and keep it narrow in the 2nd half it was a marvellous win today This game must be a boost for us Edited 12 January, 2019 by Batman

tajjuk Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 Can't see Long going anywhere now to be honest, whilst he should not be first choice, he is the kind of striker Ralph wants and will therefore I think always be a good option for him in the squad. Hopefully we can find a younger, upgrade Long.
Pip Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 Half listened to the post match interviews on Solent and I thought I heard Shane say that he's been carrying an injury for 6 weeks and is only just getting back to fitness. Could explain a couple of uncharacteristic performances recently.
Danbert Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 Half listened to the post match interviews on Solent and I thought I heard Shane say that he's been carrying an injury for 6 weeks and is only just getting back to fitness. Could explain a couple of uncharacteristic performances recently. You mean, that's why he scored?
whelk Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 Wonder if Longy's goal goes down as an OG. He had wild spin on it - would have spun in
aintforever Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 The more I hear from Ralph the more I like. His counter attacking style should be perfect in the Prem.
wadesmith Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 Tie this manager down long term! Yeah...that will work!
Colinjb Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 Tie this manager down long term! Contracts are binding..... We have seen this over the last few years.
adrian lord Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 You can feel the passion radiating from the page when you read that. No wonder the team are transformed.
Toadhall Saint Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 Some good comments from RH post match on the echo.
washsaint Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 Interestingly, in his interview with Blackmore, he speaks about Valery and how good he is despite having to learn and that he will be a big player for Saints for the rest of the season. Sounds like he is views Valery as his #1 in the position. I do love how he is involving the younger players....it would have been easy for him to bring on Moi but he brought Slattery on instead. Reputations count for nothing with Ralph. I really hope he stays here for some time - he is a breath of fresh air after some of our more recent managers.
Dark Munster Posted 12 January, 2019 Posted 12 January, 2019 Wonder if Longy's goal goes down as an OG. Hopefully they'll credit it to him, it would be good for his confidence. And take that 279 day monkey off his back.
trousers Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 He had wild spin on it - would have spun inThis. That was my instinct on seeing it on one of the TV angles on MotD. It would have curled into the corner IMO.
whelk Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 You know there is going to be a time when we all hate this man when his head is turned and fcks us over. Then it will be time to smash up my shrine
shurlock Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 This. That was my instinct on seeing it on one of the TV angles on MotD. It would have curled into the corner IMO.
Ralph Wiggum Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 Hopefully we can find a younger, upgrade Long. Obafemi imo
OttawaSaint Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 Hopefully they'll credit it to him, it would be good for his confidence. And take that 279 day monkey off his back. Should be his goal. Unless they pull some bull**** like they did on Ostenstadt in the 6-3 vs Utd. Never an own goal in a month of Sundays.
Toussaint Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 Some good comments from RH post match on the echo. True, I always felt Hughes was going through the motions, lost all his drive and just along for the lifestyle. Whereas Ralph just loves the challenge
Toussaint Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 Obafemi imo I hope people are right about Obefami, I think he could go either way.
simo Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 Seen a nice video of him coming over to the away fans and taking his hat off to them after the game !
Bad Wolf Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 I hope people are right about Obefami, I think he could go either way. Agreed. Same with Valery.
The Cat Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 Seen a nice video of him coming over to the away fans and taking his hat off to them after the game ! Great moment. Everyone was singing his name. He applauded us then took off his cap and bowed. There's a hell of a lot of love for Ralph at the moment, and rightly so.
Stud mark of doom Posted 13 January, 2019 Posted 13 January, 2019 I hope people are right about Obefami, I think he could go either way. A defender’s worst nightmare
