Will be interesting to see if we go to 3 at the back for this one or not.

Hard to tell from the line-up.

Yep. O'Connor can play CB or CM so impossible to tell. I've never seen the kid who's playing at RB. Not sure Jankewitz has started for the u23 before but is a prospect apparently.

With such a clear pathway to the first team it'll be interesting to see how much more the kids give.

Jankewitz def seems highly thought of. Only just turned 17 & featuring for the U23's is not too shoddy.

I'm watching and he's a beast. Playing a back 3 with wing backs playing very high and Vokins coming inside like the man city full backs do.

Cheers for info. Not watching - Who's out wide?

Figured Afolabi up top with Tella one side & Smallbone (?) on the other side?

Wing backs. Olufunwa right. Vokins left. Tella and Smallbone kind inside left and right behind teh striker. Jankewitz looks very good so far. Range of passing, strong, offers up for the ball and talking.

Decent performance. Back 3 all did well - Klarer has improved on the ball and O'Driscoll has turned into a clone of Stephens. Kid at RB solid and promising debut. Vokins at LB petulant first half and disappointing - he's always impressed me but not today. Smallbone had a decent game and main creator. Jankewitz started well before fading but looks a talent - tall, strong, good passer and an organiser. One to watch. Hamblin did very little. Tella scored a good goal but otherwise just runs around a lot. Afolabi strong, pacy, makes decent runs and is another to watch.

Overall a decent performance from a young time. The one negative were the shocking throw ins - nobody offered up for the ball and the ref had to tell us to get on with it.

Ferry seems to be developing very well.

Cousins support Bury where we got Ferry from, they said he was the pick of their academy crop.

They also asked if we could fast track him to the first team and sell him to City for £50m+........once again Bury have some money issues.

With Liverpool so often raiding us for talent, there's a very bad Ferry cross the Mersey joke in there somewhere...

Impressive we keep winning with so many of the better players missing too.

So happy to hear that Ralph has been pro-active with them too.

Yep. Knowing that there's a chance of promotion must be a hell of an incentive. Good management brings improvement though the whole club.

Southampton's youngsters overpowered Stoke City in Premier League 2 on Friday evening, prompting plenty of praise from boss Radhi Jaïdi, as his side moved top of the Premier League 2 table.

The standing may only be temporarily, depending on other results, but Jaïdi placed importance on beginning the new year with victory, given Saints' ambitions to progress to Division One come the end of the season.

As well as the performance, and maximum points, the Tunisian was also pleased with the chance to offer a host of Under-18s their opportunity to impress in the level above, with a handful of regular Under-23s currently within the first-team set-up.

"We pressed with good intensity, and restricted their play in the first half but weren't able to find a goal," Jaïdi began.

"The first goal gave us the confidence to press higher and attack more, and the second goal killed the game off.

"It's good to hear that we've gone top of the table, temporarily at least. We'll look at the other results when they come in, but ultimately we focus on ourselves.

"There are a lot of players with the first team at the moment, and that's the most pleasing.

"Tonight we played with a young side, and some players from the U18s got their opportunity so we're continuing to see a lot of development.

"There's things to work on, but overall I'm impressed with our performance tonight."
