The January Transfer Window 2019!

Think it was KBilly or Monk who said Boufal is actually a nice lad, just clearly didn’t know what Mark Hughes was about and got on the wrong side of him. He definitely has the ability to change a game and definitely isn’t the lazy player some people label him as. Actually found him more likely to chase down the player who’d just tackled him than most of our other players! Certainly more work rate than Tadic.

As for Sims I don’t understand why he gets so much stick on here? Most games he played for us he was good, and definitely would suit Ralph’s system. Reading are an absolute shambles, plenty of players have had bad loan spells and gone onto be good players.

Would love to see if Ralph could do something with Boufal. A lot of talent there.

In the meantime, according to the press, Ralph seems very keen on involving the youth. But surely we wouldn't get a manager of his calibre in without giving him SOME money to spend in the window?

If we do sign a pacy player? Does he walk into the first team. I mean in our current formation it's hard to drop ings. Redmond although a bit hit n miss has had a decent season and suppose one of the first names on team sheet.. and Armstrong tends to offer a bit of guile and doesn't just run into players or give the ball away which is refreshing.. maybe the going to Ralph's other 4222 formation could free up another first team pacy place..

But also if would be good anyway to get another attacking pacy singer and striker we feel down to the barebones if we were to get injury to ings or Redmond

Boufal's work rate was always good, no idea why people labelled him as lazy, he was just inconsistent.

But doubt we can recall him.

What we need is Shane Long, but with the ability to shoot, control a ball, pass etc. Basically Timo Werner, but obviously not him but someone similar.

Simms, Reed, McQueen, & Gallagher are not what we need

We need experienced pro’s to sign

I can’t understand why everyone thinks these lads are going to do something special.

Other than the exception of Harry Reed, the rest are probably at best championship standard and best sold off

as they are offering the club anything better at 21-24 years old and that is their level.

Your missing one point the club won't miss none of those lads will cost a penny the club are unlikely to shell out loads in Jan ( in fact the other Ralph said as much already) especially if Ralph thinks these lads can do a job he has already shown a willingness to use the youngsters.

We need players to improve the starting 11 to help us avoid relegation so no point signing bench players.

Armstrong is the player who would drop out. He’s a decent player but he’s not a natural fit to that wide role in the current system.

Ii’m very much in the give gallagher a chance camp. Got all the attributes & actually impressed in his only opportunity this season. Still annoyed we panic bought Carrillo. Let’s not do that again.

I would be sad to see Armstrong drop out.. kinda feel like he's the one that can offer end product more so then Redmond tbh decent goal threat. keeps the ball well and actually has some intelligence which is pretty rare in our squad lol

No the point is they aren’t good enough for PL
Neither is 90% of the current squad but we are stuck with them same for the youth we aren't going to get shot and replace all the crud in January. We will be lucky if we get one new signing in this Jan if you think the club are going to spend loads this window you'll be disappointed.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ralph give the youngsters a go as he tries to find a winning formula. Not because he wouldn't rather have some big money signings but because he won't get any.

In best possible scenario I would sacrifice Lemina and Cedric to get £20-40m or so in (if PSG) to spend on a CB and striker, plus a good loan DM, with strength and speed being key in all three to fit Ralph’s strategy

We keep buying players at £15m or so and most end up on the bench

We need just one very good player at £30m Plus who can perform really well all the time which will hopefully help the £15m players to blossom

We just have lots of players of average quality I am not even sure who are our best three players

So many fans living in the past. "bring back lallana" no! F*ck rat boy lallana he's burned his bridges. "bring back lovren" no f*cking way. "boufal is the answer" no he isn't and never has been. We need to stop looking at previous players and look to new blood and to the future. Reed is gone. That gives us hope. With ralph at the helm I have no doubt he recognises quality players. I would much rather have 3 of ralphs players than he knows will fit his system than players who have disrespected our club and fans with their bad attitudes. We are linked with herrmann and he's out of contract. Would definately be worth a punt on that for a free if ralph thinks he's good enough.

We should over charge PSG if they want him so bad. 40 mil just for Lemina. Not like they can't afford it.

Agree with all this, bang on--but there is onne player I would bring back, Mane. No chance of course but he is in his prime, the others mentioned are past their best,

Beginning of the end. Will sign for Liverpool by end of Jan. as I’ve stated and got abuse for

Could make some sense for both parties.

Liverpool get homegrown back up & unhappy mignonette gets to leave whilst we unlock funds in an area of the pitch we have already invested heavily in.

How about a cheeky bid for Antonio, seems pretty versatile, either FB or winger,

like your thinking. Might be a good option for a wing back role too. Victor Moses might be another option. How about both of those two and Bolasie. It would bring in some much needed pace and strength that's for sure.

But we would then need to sign another backup keeper, because there's no way Forster is every going to play for us again, and that would leave us with Gunn and a couple of very young and inexperienced keepers from the academy.

For what we would get for selling McCarthy, would we be able to buy in someone at a similar level? Or would it just be better to keep hold of McCarthy?

Doesn't really make sense for McCarthy though.. as he's totally chanceless of playing first team at Liverpool bar injury

Maybe the club has no choice. If Forster is going nowhere (when they expected he would leave) then maybe they cant afford to keep all three.

I assume if there’s any basis in it the notion would be to have Lewis & Forster or a loan acting as backup.

As for mccarthy’s Motivation, salary, winning medals and playing in cups.

Moses, maxi gomez and konate. Imagine that. I know it's not going to happen but those signings would push us up for sure. I just hope we spend on on some actually quality now that reed isn't here to balls it up with his poundland players sold for harrods prices. I can't see ralph having his pants pulled down. I would love moses here.

News from some our rivals...

'NOT RIGHT MOMENT FOR SOLANKE'

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson says the potential loan arrival of Dominic Solanke has been called off.

“It is a club decision. We were interested, I think he is a good player – it turns out there are complications, other factors involved in it and the club decided in the end it was not the right moment for us to be doing it," he said in a press conference.

“I do feel a little bit disappointed for the player because I think at one stage he made up his mind in our favour so it looked as if it was going to work out but it didn’t work out in the end.

“These are things you accept as a manager because there are always elements that are beyond certainly (the) coach’s control.”

PUNCHEON TO TERRIERS?

Roy Hodgsonhas also admitted Huddersfield are interested in Jason Puncheon.

The Crystal Palace manager has told Puncheon he can leave and says it’s now down to the clubs to agree a deal.

Think Ralph has nailed his colours to the mast with regard to what he wants up front, if you look at his comments about being disappointed Obafemi is injured and Long not doing as he hoped, pace is top of the criteria. Don't think during his brief cameo in a Saints shirt that Carillo is overly blessed in that department.

Rickie and Pelle weren't fast, but they could hold the ball up, and find the back of the net. That's what we desperately need, and have done so since Pelle left.

Seemed to do fine till Mark Hughes came along. A manager who has a reputation of annoying this sort of player.

He didn’t do fine, he was dropped by all 3 managers he played under.

Bad attitude?

Throwing a strop when being subbed off for the reserves, playing for himself and not the team, shouting in MoPe’s face after he scored against WBA, then preceding to do nothing when MoPe started him in the next 4 games.

Maybe, but he's also got the best first touch of any player we've had since Le Tissier, and it isn't even close.

And yet here he is, being regularly dropped and subbed off for Celta Vigo, having failed to impress 3 Saints managers.
